These aren’t the latest models. They only come in 64gb and 128gb. Not worth.

    A12 chip vs A15 chip.

Yeah it's the 2nd gen 4K 32GB model. It's still a quite capable media player with the A12 chip. I even still run the 1st gen 4K model and even that works fine with every thing i use.

Just need to point it out as it isn’t the same product as the recent deals in case someone buys first without doing research. The 128gb also has the thread networking (new mesh stuff)

        • Thread and matter, I believe

        • This one would do thread. Both the Gen 2 models did. They took Ethernet and thread out of the base Gen three model

      • this looks overprice for an old model

        • Only a little

  • Old generation

  • Question for anyone who has 2 of these.

Will the remotes interfere (as in try to control the wrong Apple TV) if I have one in each adjacent room?

    Overpriced junk

    • Ha ha says those who have probably never used it to it's potential

We have a WDTV, Latest Chromecast, Samsung Smart TV, up until recently a Laser Android TV stick and Apple TV. The snappiness and user experience outshines the others on the Apple TV. With an app like Infuse 7 - it organises media. The Prime Video, Freeview apps everything runs faster and smoother on the Apple product

I'm not an Apple fanboy - no Mac or Apple Watches, AirPods etc. Just a iPhone and iPad and now Apple TV.

I would use an Apple TV based on experience even if I had android phones - that's who much I like how it functions.

I didn't even buy an Apple TV until late 22 or early 23. Only because it came up cheap when the 1st Gen 4K was on a JB hi fi sale - and I had some spare vouchers to spend. I was skeptical too due to the price

Take the post as you will, it's my honest opinion

  • Still a very capable media player, and far better than the cheaper junk that have colour space and other issues.

    Mine has been faultless.

Better off spending a few extra dollars on the current model though.

May be change title to show the year of manufacture so someone with limited knowledge on the generations is not mislead ?

    • That would be helpful, particularly since the now dated description opens with “The new Apple TV 4K…”

  • This model is entirely fine,

If you have eBay Plus Good Guys have the current 128GB Apple TV for $236.55 (PLUSDEC1) + (Free C&C or $5.00 delivery)

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/115612551625?epid=25057112562

I would say for the extra $50 it is worth getting the latest and greatest.

Better value from Apple Store when Coles/Woolies do discounted GCs, will get for $225 free postage.

      • +2

Think about using ebay GC for the deal above.

        • +1

Yep that’d do it to :)

  • +3

I'm not interested in older version of apple TV unless it's $99 or lower

    • -2

      More like <$50
