      Be careful doing this. Amazon will flag this and suspend the transaction as possibly fraudulent. Check my comment below about this happening on a previous Amazon gift card deal.

        Yep at restaurants with that uses a food type merchant code. Just pay with Apple/Google pay as a credit card.

            @FatTofu: The Restaurant Choice gift card used to be just a physical EFTPOS gift card that worked at selected restaurants around Australia, so the website used to show the participating restaurants. However, a digital Visa version was introduced recently, and both types of gift cards have been updated so that they are now redeemable at any merchants using any of the following Merchant Category Codes (MCCs):

            • Caterers (5811)
            • Eating Places and Restaurants (5812)
            • Drinking Places (Alcoholic Beverages), Drinking Places (Non-Alcoholic Beverages), Bars, Taverns, Cocktail Lounges, Nightclubs and Discotheques (5813)
            • Fast Food Restaurants (5814)
            • Hotels, Motels & Resorts (7011)
            • Amusement Parks, Circuses, Carnivals and Fortune Tellers (7996)
            • Membership Clubs (Sports, Recreation, Athletic), Country Clubs and Private Gold Courses (7997)

            The restaurants you now see on the website are merely featured restaurants.

            However, if a merchant using one of the MCCs above chooses to not accept prepaid gift cards, you’re out of luck. For example:

            • Prepaid gift cards cannot support 3-D Secure (a security feature that allows a payment processor to verify whether the person attempting to use the card is actually the authorised cardholder), so will fail any checks imposed by the merchant’s payment provider. This happened to me recently when I tried ordering a meal from my phone whilst sitting at a restaurant table, but the website kept on telling me my prepaid gift card failed security validation checks.

            • I once used a prepaid EFTPOS gift card at a food outlet without any issues, but when I returned about a month later and tried to use a prepaid EFTPOS gift card again, I got an error message on the EFTPOS terminal saying my payment method was blocked.

        please stop buying uber eats or similar gift cards, restaurants stop getting extra income if any that they used to get from uber eat and customer go to local restaurants make them wash dishes and use their air conditioning…. everyone will be happy :D :D :D

          Uber provides a service and an expanded customer network, that's what they're charging for. Most people that use the service understand they're paying the extra for the service. Just because you can't understand why people value a service doesn't mean you should be labelling them "dumb".

            @Maestrok: well, i label them dumb because same people can contact the same restaurant and buy the product without 30% mark-up so basically you are getting to the point tht i was trying to make here ….. the real dumb people are the restaurant owners who wanted to charge 30% extra as they are paying uber fees for expanded services and hence it is the restaurant owner who should be paying for it not the customer :D :D :D…. if more people stop using uber eats then only this restaurant owners learn the lesson in my opinion and hence all OZbargainer should stop buying this food giftcard where restaurant owner putting fat margin on it…

      Yep. You can amend the payment option but once you load the gift card as the payment option you have to redeem straight away. I’m a little nervous with cancellations so will redeem mine closer to the upcoming payment date.

        I bought a bunch of Airbnb cards in the lead up to Christmas to pay off some existing bookings and I just had a credit sitting in my account until the final payment date of the booking came up at which point I amended the payment option and redeemed the gift card balance to close out the payment due.

          Yep you explained it better than me as i used the word redeem in the wrong context.

          What I meant to say was if you update the payment method to gift card it becomes payable at that point regardless of when the original payment was due. So as you say update the payment to gift cards in line with the original payment dates

    For everyone trying to purchase a gift card by loading discounted Amazon Gift Cards onto your account - read through the comments on this deal. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/738410 - Amazon cracked down on using Amazon credit to buy other gift cards.

    Both me and a lot of other users got flagged by Amazon and had the credits tied up for 2-3 days. Amazon will flag your account for suspicious activity if you load a large denomination of gift cards and then try to use them to buy another gift card. Some of us got away with the first transaction but I don't know if anyone managed to get 2+ gift cards by paying with discounted gift cards.

            @Gunganstyle: For Disney it needs to be same email, and you also have to do it on new account or after subscription expired.
            You can only add it on setup or new account or new subscription when downloading app through app store, can do it on desktop.

        I received a call from Amazon earlier today asking if I still wanted the gift cards from my earlier order.

        It sounded dodgy however didn’t have to share any details with the guy on the phone, and the email and gift card arrived about 10 mins later.

        Very annoying that an online e-gift card service takes over 24 hours to be delivered…

              1) Cancelled the order first
              2) Got me to re-add 1 x 500s to the cart, and applied $50 off manually in the cart), so I have placed an order for 1 x 500 AirBnB for $450 (paid using amazon gc credit, but I didn't load it all today, I've had 1K+ balance for ages)
              Lets see if it goes through!
              3) Asked if I could do 2 x 500s, and they said they can't do two promos in 24 hours, but can do a second order for me tomorrow instead :)

      Amazon now offering the equivalent discount as promotional credit which isn't the worst, but best to check-in with Amazon on the order via live chat.
