  • Shame it's not cordless

    • It can be kinda cordless with a battery + solar panel as these are 5v and draw about 0.2-0.4A

    • +1

How would you power it without a cable ?

The solar idea above is probably the only thing that makes sense. It's not going to be very convenient to climb up to your roof to change the batteries otherwise 🤷🏼‍♂️

      • Via a very short cable with a battery in an electrical box and a solar panel like i did.

And cordless is battery powered with motion detection. And those are garbage cameras. This is a real 24/7 setup camera.

        • Yeah battery powered cameras are a none-starter, because changing/charging them is none trivial.

          • @Nom: But they’re not a security camera. They’re a 10-15 seconds too late. Record for 15-20 seconds and then turn off.

In our place people walking by walked right passed Eufy camera and Reolink battery cameras before they even turned on.

            • @checkingthisout: This is usually my problem with all of these motion based type devices. You're wholly reliant on them deciding they've detected a person or movement or whatever. Sometimes they'll pick shadows up as people and alert you, or you'll see the top of someone's head before its decided to activate and they've already walked by. Its probably all situational though, as some people will just have better property layouts that work well with these types of devices.

That said other people have great experiences with them.

              • @Tardvark: It really depends on the neural net models used. I’ve found Reolink and ubiquiti had very good tensor flow models.

But you’re right. If they’re not constantly on and viewing and the cameras not well made. Then the decision to pickup a “human” and to catch useful footage will be useless.

That is why 24:7 is the only security option. If someone asks for footage at 11am last week. Then you most likely have it.

Im from the Ultimo, Broadway, Central, Redfern, Waterloo area and alone there are 3,300+ surveillance cameras. The government wants to call it safety cameras, but i call it surveillance camera. No privacy at all for Australians

Why they want to track the citizens like this? Im risking everything by putting this out. Wont be surprised if they are on to me.

    • You don’t like being tracked. Whilst also giving away your location so freely on here?

    • Are you going to sprout this rubbish for every cctv post?
Get your tinfoil off your head, it’s cooked your brain

  • Price changed to $229 when I check out.

    • Looks like they sold out of sale stock as $179 delivered is very good for Ubiquiti G4 cameras.

      • It was $179 when I add to my cart. But the price changed to $229 when I process the payment. Also, I didn't subscribe the email, their system automatic subscribe me.

        • Yeah sadly I think it’s sold out of the low cost version. Their shopify store maybe hasn’t updated it.
