I'd fork out extra for the silver.

I have the black and always regret not getting silver.

    • why is that? does the black come off eventually?

      • I’d like to know that as well. I have the silver but I was planning to get a black as a gift.

        • I’ve had both. Silver looks better. Black looks good but the paint does chip off, especially around the area supporting the tray. Black shows up more grime. Good price though

        • I have the black Breville Dynamic Duo. Pretty sure the paint is enamel paint, quite soft, scratches and chips easily.
After a couple of years of use, I have a little missing paint here and there, but nothing you'd notice from a couple of meters away.

The silver is unpainted stainless steel, much less likely to notice dings and scratches.

I still recommend the black if you prefer the look, just take a bit of care when moving sharp metal objects around.
The most common cause of scratches for me is moving the drip tray around without taking care.

      • I imagine that black would just show up every single mark so easily. Combine potentially inadvertent scratches with spray from frothing milk and splatters from the extraction process, one's machine would look dirty and well-used without necessarily being so. I've got the silver version and only have to wipe it down maybe once every day or two (we make about 10 cups a day with it), and any light scratches just blend in with the stainless steel/silver.

        • I don't find the black to look particularly dirty, much the same whichever colour I think.
I wipe mine down regularly, and it looks good as new, except for some small paint chips around the drip tray.
Regular dust shows up more than anything.

        • 10 cups a day?! for how many people?

Let's take a moment to appreciate @Marc D leaving a stirring comment without any reason and flying away.

The stainless steel one may suit his kitchen better.

  • OOS already

  • Ive never been able to pull a good coffee from this machine. Watched all the videos, different beans, settings etc. Usually just succeed in making a mess and a shit coffee.

    • Interesting..

    • Very strange. We use Gabriel coffee and we have a great success. Always comes out “within range” and very creamy.

      Its you not the machine.

I've learnt a good coffee is all about the person who makes it. I make shit coffees with good machines, meanwhile my dad makes great coffees with an average machine. I follow instructions and videos but it doesn't help 😔

    • Although there are many variables at play (amount of grind, size of grind, tamping pressure, coffee type, humidity/moisture), I've had consistent success with mine. Having used other friends' machines, its very apparent that no two machines are the same though. Have you thought about returning yours and asking for a replacement?

  • bought one for my old man thanks op

    • Postage is a killer for me. $103.83 😱

      • +2

It's free postage with eBay Plus. There are only 5 left, I would definitely jump on this machine at this price. I picked mine up last week for $535 and it's amazing.

        Edit: now sold out.

    • Not sure if you can, Powerland are not one of the participating retailers …

Remember to get the dosing funnel unless you're into messy frustration.

    • +1

Agreed. I ended up 3D printing mine.

Get a third party one instead of paying the Breville tax. Amazon cheapest one is $12, eBay maybe cheaper.

      • +1

Dont suppose you have the .stl file for the 3D print?

Also, cant see a reason why you couldnt print a distrubutor as well. Must be one out there.

The price of tamps etc cracks me up..

I bought this machine recently and it came with one of these. Took me a minute to figure out what it was! Not sure if product code is different to the one in this deal.

    • Wish I had that like 8 years ago.

      • I know!

    • I think it should be included because it makes such a huge difference. It shortens the prep time and no more spilled coffee grinds. Biggest improvement. 2nd only to a proper tamper

      • What's "a proper tamper"?

Also agree re the improvement the funnel adds. Doesn't have to be Breville's, but it has to screw onto portafilter on fit in the portafilter holder (under the grinder) - not all of them do.

        • Proper tamper probably isn’t exactly what I should say. I just think the tamper that comes with the brevilles to be kinda bad.

  • I got the Breville Barista Max on boxing day sale from HN. Also, based on some previous posts got the Aldi Lazzio Single Origin Brazil beans for starters.

I mostly drink - Cappuccino, Latte or Mocha. Could you please recommend some good coffee beans. I read good reviews about Airjo beans but they are little expensive.

So any recommendations among the Aldi range or any other local roasters in Syd please ?

    • I buy the dark roast Aldi beans and the Coles Urban Coffee Culture just to learn how to do it initially. They both are like $11-12 which is okay as I don't mind wasting grinds while learning

  • this or the "impress" version?

  • Has anyone’s shipped yet? Mines still sitting at paid.

    • looks like shipped yesterday, or at least at the consignment stage
