Basically the same price I bought the normal one for the year prior.

I bought one now awaiting le hacks so can download all the games into an sdcard. Stuff laying 60bucks average for games so many being remastered wii games i already have

        • I hoxxed my OG Switch. But I still want an OLED for N64 games and I still have my copy of Mario Kart and BOTW.

        • No hack ever on oled

Lightning Deals and coupons never register on Camels. From what I've seen.

        So you need to use a combo of;

        Good memory :)

Gamers appreciate the exclusive titles of which there are to many for me to spend my time counting. There are more exclusive games on the Switch than the combined total of exclusives on PS4, PS5, Xbox1, Xbox SS and SX.

There are all the Nintendo made games that people love playing.

Then there are all the other cross-platform games on the Switch. And once again, there’s too many for me to count.

Games are tiny cartridges that take up next to no space or digital downloads. And with a micro SD card inserted into the Switch, it holds a huge amount of digital games! An Xbox SS can only have about three or four games on it at a time whereas the Switch can have double digits. Mine’s up to about 30 so far.

The portability factor is a huge selling point, along with the ability to play it on tv screens.

The fact you can play two-player games without the need to buy a second controller is another reason people like the console.

      The Pro controller is excellent.

So yeah, I’m sure there are people who buy it just to play Mario, but there are hundreds of other titles to choose from and have a great time playing. And if you like coöperative games, especially couch coöp, then the Switch is fantastic.

      • Does it have any sensor you need to keep in front near TV or its all about console on one corner and it picks your hand movement and speed?

2nd ques - Does it have cricket, soccer, rugby like in PS5. Thanks

        • No console alignment is required for playing on TV. Set it up as you want!

          • @JustNotGod: There’s no sensor bar or anything like you needed for the Wii or Wii U.

I wouldn’t get a Switch if sports games or racing games are your main go to. There’s lots of reasons to get a Switch as outlined above, but library of sports games isn’t one. On the other hand, it’s the only console with Mario Kart and Mario Strikers.

            • -2

@bulletbill88: switch has all sports games.. afl, cricket, FIFA, nba etc. perhaps not at the highest graphics but it is a potable device as well at the price point compared to a ps5 which cost 2.5x and requires a decent $500+ tv to play anything, the switch has its advantages

              • @Gavman: That decent tv price is missing a 1 at the beginning. $1500 a the minimum for a hdr tv that can take advantage of all the new features current gen consoles have. That’s also a smaller tv for a small room

      Zelda

You can watch YouTube on it too… but seriously if you Gota ask it’s obviously not something targeted to your demographic or amusement sect

      • You ever asked a girls no if you aren't interested ?

    • Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, fortnight, simulators, SSB

    • Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Metroid, Indie games, Kirby, Sonic, Donkey Kong, retro games

Would cover about 90% of the fanbases IMO, then other gems pop up every now and then

  • Thanks op, bought one. Does this come with any games ? Or do we have to buy separately?

    • +2

it doesnt come with any games, so youll have to buy them separately, switch games are expensive but hold its value though

      • Only expensive if you buy them new from a department store which it’s dumb to say the least. You can buy games all day long on marketplace at usually 50% cheaper which you can flip for same cost when your sick of it. And Especially now after Xmas plenty of unwanted gifts no shortage of cheap games to buy

  • In 3 months the Switch will be 6 years old.

Unless people are upgrading their existing units for handheld play, there must be a Switch 2 coming soon?

    • At least not until the end of March 2023 if any, according to Nintendo CEO?

  • Aside from the screen, is there any benefit to OLED over the regular switch? Any other specs upgraded?

    • +3

If you don’t already have a Switch, getting the OLED is a no brainer. However, if you already do have one, it’s a bit harder to justify. I personally upgraded mine early this year and am very happy with it, but my original Switch was a launch model with a very weak battery life.

      • +1

Also, for anyone who cares, launch model much easier to “hack”. I purposely got one before they patched them in 2018 so I could keep the ability to do that easily

      • Thanks for your thoughts… if you're only intending to play in TV mode, would it be better to get the bundle with mario kart? I think the only thing I saw is the OLED has more memory, but not sure if that's confirmed?

        • +1

No difference if it’s for TV.

  • What is it like to play Diablo/The Witcher/Pillars of Eternity… on Switch without a TV? I love these games n like the idea that I can play it on train or while waiting for my partner shopping. I already have them on my consoles/PC.

    • +1

I have finished The Witcher on switch only. Pretty decent, never crashed, thought suggest to keep saving.

    • +1

Aren’t there tons of YouTube videos/reviews on these games for Switch?

    • +1

Diablo runs fine on the Switch. Takes some getting used to using a controller over a mouse but it works.

The Witcher I purchased solely out of my own curiosity on how it would run. It runs ok…. but it's definitely a very watered down experience visually. If you can play it any other way I would suggest it - but if it was the only way you could play the game, it's serviceable.

Haven't tried Pillars, but given the type of game it is, should run fine.

    • +1

The Witcher 3 has cross-saves between Switch and PC. Ideal for short sessions away from your PC.

  • Tempted to buy one just to play BOTW 2 when it releases. But there's really nothing else on the system that interests me (got a WiiU for BOTW)

  • Just bought the boxing day sale for $479 at jbhifi white colour! Just my luck :S
