      Thanks BDL

Shop 15 265 Parramatta Rd Auburn. If anyone is coming in, wouldn't mind a Kombucha

      • +10

I once went there and requested a demo of a specific B&W tower speakers, the guy at the counter asked me if I wanted to buy only then he'd let me listen, I was pissed off and never sat foot in that store in Auburn lol unfortunately, not all are so welcoming like this rep

        • +12

Plot twist, OP is the guy that you spoke to :P

        • +2

You could’ve said “yes, I do want to buy”, had a listen and then said “thanks, see ya, I’m buying it somewhere else.

@Cheap Rich Guy: Was into quality hifi set ups 30-35 years ago and used to spend between $500

and $3000 per purchase back then in various Melbourne specialised shops as

a really young looking man/teenager. As I was not a professional working person

who was dressed in bussiness style,I was often snubbed and not given any

respect regarding hifi knowledge and ability to buy top gear.

There was one shop in High St. Armadale owner operator was an American tall guy

called Mike and he was great and did not care how we looked or dressed, and was happy

to take our money.Needless to say, myself and a few of my friends ended up spending a lot

of our hard earned money with him.

  • Thanks, ordered.

  • +1

    Ordered! Thanks

  • Anyone have this and can you connect via HDMI? The pictures on Samsung website show HDMI in and out but spec sheet says no.

    • +1

I've got this, paid $350 a couple years ago, kinda upset at paying so much as it's not worth $350 imo.
      It's a steal at $99.

Anyway, I connect via HDMI ARC to Samsung TV and that gives some benefits such as using a single remote to change volume.

      • +1

450 is always optical output only. You must have got 550 or other.

        • +1

Don't know too much about sound stuff but like Bob, I have this and use HDMI ARC

  • ordered one, looking forward to it, thanks OP!

    • +2

I can get an 80's Ferrari for the price of a new c class too.

      • You probably can. My freind bought an Audi Q7 2016 for $30000 the other day (full service history) from a rich dude who got their new car delivered early. Car sales showing same car selling for $60000+

I also know a surgeon who sold a 4 year old Volvo SUV with 35000km for $15000 cause he couldnt be bothered listing it on carsales (his daily income from private hospital work was $10000+)

        • +5

inb4 repairable write off, if it sounds too good to be true then it most likely is.

why wouldn't the rich dude take his car to the dealership and do a swap over and get trade in value for his car? that would be easier than selling privately for below market value

          • -2

            @bargainswede: Rich people dont care.
Obviously you never met any but alot of my work is with rich clients who live on waterfronts.

            • +4

@easternculture: Exactly why they wouldnt bother with a private sale when they could drive their old car to the dealership and just drive away with the new one

But if you say so mate

              • +1

@bargainswede: No one asked you to believe me.
There are bargains to be had. You just have to be right place right time

                • +1

@easternculture: I'm with you on this one "easternculture" as sound wise some older quality gear sound

way better than most gimmicky new gear for similar prices sound system wise.

And like you say, if you look hard in the right places, there are some real bargains to be had.

                  • +1

@ozhunter68: And the older amps are much better quality. I have a few pre 2012 and im keeping them for future use

                    • @easternculture: Not sure how long you have been into quality hifi gear, but as far as amps/receivers

and speakers go, there has been some top gear around since the 80's, but you really

need to know what you're looking at, sound test them and make sure the component

matches your system or desired outcome. Yamaha certainly has some good gear,

but there is better to be had too.

                      • @ozhunter68: The other amps i have are Denon . But using the yamaha because i wanted 7.1 but daisy chained 2 subs for 7.2 channel.

        • End of lease prestige cars can often be had for cheap. The owner is just happy to do better than change over.
Strangely enough not common for multi seat SUVs so the guy who got the Q7 was a legend.

    • +7

Stealing is nothing to smirk about.

      • +7

You mean getting it for free from rich people in the northern suburbs from marketplace because they upgraded to a shitty soundbar 🤣🤣🤣🤣

        • +4

That's actually smart. Find good gear at cheap prices, while saving it from ending up in landfill. Kill 2 birds with one stone.

          • +4

@dealhunter52: True. I have my search set in northern and eastern suburbs.

Also if you call council and see when collection day is, you will find some nice goodies.
I found a 2 year old xbox one S all digital in brighton and its working fine

          • +2

@dealhunter52: What did those birds ever do to you?

    • -1

What about warranty, if it break after a week where do you go?

      • +8

Second hand rarely breaks after a week.
Infact most if my household items are second hand from marketplace and still going strong

And if your getting a $700+ item for less than $100, its worth the risk

    • +1

Which one do you have? And any tips/key words to help with the search?

      • +5

        I usually search yamaha speakers.
Aim for richer suburbs so you know your not getting banged up speakers.
If you want to negotiate aim for 15 to 20% from original listed price.
        Pickup right away

        • Cheers for the tip, I ended up with a Jamo E8 series (Made in Denmark) 5.1 set including 2x E870 floor standing speakers, picked up from Northern Sydney. They sound amazing!

  • -5

    Doesn’t support Dolby atmos.

    • +12

For 99 bucks it doesn’t have to

    • +5

      But…it's $99 not $x99.

      • not $x99

        It's $099 though

        • Well, $099 or $0000000099 is still $99.

          • @dealhunter52: I know, so then

            not $x99

            Is incorrect

            • @spaceflight: Seems common sense is not that common these days. Well done genius!

              • @dealhunter52: There's no shame in failing maths.

Some may say it makes you an idiot, but I would never say that.

                • @spaceflight: Math you can learn but there is no education for common sense, either you have it, or not. I can only sympathise for you.

                  • +1

@dealhunter52: My therapist tells me not to worry about common sense because that's very common and most people have it.

I'm not common which makes me much more special.

  • +9
    • That shows the real world price too, not RRP. OP's is still a saving, particularly if c&c, but not as big of a saving if paying for delivery

Wow, those reviews… 4 hours playback seems to be the magic number before it just goes "no you"

    • +3

Issues aside, I would really not recommended this as someone who has just upgraded from this to a Sonos set. 2.1 Channels is really not sufficient. Dialogue sounds extremely muffled and I would literally mute the soundbar and use the TV speaker for shows like Game of Thrones. I would not spend any money on this, it is hardly better (and in some cases not) than a TV speaker. Try find a 3.1 channel soundbar at minimum. The one Pro is that the bass is strong.

Interested folks can also buy directly from Samsung website for $179 with free delivery.
On the Samsung website it says 2022 model, not sure if it makes any difference.

    • Saw these at Costco Marsden Park for $149.

  • Motherboard search alert brought me here

    Nice bargain tho!

  • It says, NSW collect, so where in NSW?

    • +1

see OP comment at the very top

got B650 not long ago, know about these issues above. first thing out of the box, updated firmware. haven't noticed any issues

  • Thanks, got one, lets see how it sounds

  • does anyone have this + the rear wireless ? swa-9200s looks to be cheapest compatible rears but an extra $299 retail

  • It wouldn’t let me checkout. The payment screen glitch plus JB won’t price match claiming it’s clearance item

    • Clearance item or not, that is the price they have it for, and they have it in stock. Shouldn't they have to price match it?

Does anyone know how this works with JB?

      • I called twice and spoke to two different people, they both don’t price match it said it’s clearance item :( they said they can offer best price which is $135 but I didn’t take it. oh well

        • Hmm alright, I wonder where it says that they can't price match clearance items. What determines an item as clearance?

          • @Zackeroo: they said they can see it listed under clearance section! so annoyed that now is oos

            • @ozvictor: Aww that's unfortunate :(

These price match rules are so confusing

    • JB price matched for me with collect at Bankstown NSW.

      Al done through live chat

  • Purchased one. Can it be picked up today?

    • before 5, yes

      • Thanks. Haven't receved any confirmation yet though.

        • I may have pulled the trigger too early
please wait for a call or email from our Warehouse team

  • Aw bummer just missed out.

  • I missed out :(

    • Shows active again 😂

      • my bad, now it's the monitors only

  • OP any deals for subwoofer?

  • Well I have the rear wireless speakers and they work flawlessly.

    • Wireless power?

      • No the rear speakers connect to a hub that is powered. The hub connects wirelessly to the sound bar.

        • So they aren't really wireless then :(

  • Any deals on a sealed 10” active sub?

  • OP
question I'm hunting for a centre speaker, my question is it better for me to stick with the same brand of center speaker as my main one (Dali ikon) or any center speaker should do?

  • +2

Not many comments on the JBL monitors?

    • +1

very little info online about them compared to other models too

  • +3

Seems like a crazy good deal on the JBL speakers? They're like $1000+ everywhere else. Anyone have thoughts on those? Thinking about upgrading the edifiers I've got connected to my turntable since I've bought an amp.
