  • Not the cheapest ever, but still a great deal imo. Thanks

  • I got this and couldn't be happier!

  • Specs from http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/AV-Receivers/Pio… says 80W per channel across 20Hz-20kHz @ 8ohm and a respectable 0.08% THD.

Not bad, not bad at all.

  • $243 delivered at JB and that is everyday price at JB for weeks now.

    Not even a bargain…

  • Bought mine last time around. Great Amp. Does everything I need.

However, please note that this model does NOT do any video upshifting. That is, to use hdmi out you must have hdmi in, component etc in cannot be switched to the hdmi out port. So if all your equipment is relatively new (ie. uses hdmi) you are in luck and will save heaps over higher price Pioneer VSX models.

Bonus is that the Pioneer KuroLink is compatible with Panasonic Viera link so you can do basic controls (eg. vol up/down) with your Pana remote via a Pana device then over the hdmi control channel.

  • Any recommended speakers for small-middle size living room?

  • Silly question, but does this amp handle audio over HDMI as well? My current one doesn't and this could be a great upgrade!

I have this amp, I believe one of the purpose of HDMI is to support both video and audio in 1 cable..so yes, this amp can decode video and audio over HDMI.

    • Yes. Supports audio over HDMI, and supports audio return channel (for sending audio in the reverse direction over HDMI). If your TV/Monitor does not support audio return channel you will need a fibre optic cable to send any audio back to the Pioneer from the TV/Monitor.

  • Not a bargain, cheaper at JB.

Sorry, I had googled the model using a price range, and JB showed up in the search result as $299. I assumed Google would index it at least every day and that the cache would be current. Apparently not. Sorry about that, I should have actually clicked through to the JB link.

Please don't be sorry. at least you tried to share. have a good night

        • Agreed. Six bucks difference is nothing to someone who wants to buy one from a walk-in store & has a DSE store nearby but no JB…it's always nice to have options! :)

      • Well …As soon as you click the "BUY ONLINE" button on the page(http://www.jbhifi.com.au/jb-hi-fi-home-audio/receiver/pionee…), it says they dont have it.

So now DSE has the lowest price available!

    • Dreambuds, since JB doesnt have stock vote removed - see manobik report for details. This is under our voting guidelines where incorrect negative votes can be removed.

  • Very tempting. I have I believe the model before and the 2HDMI inputs is a hassle, just need a justification to upgrade.

    • +1

I remember some earlier Pioneer receivers did not support audio over HDMI or HD Audio (True-HD and Master Audio). If that's the case for yours then I think there's a good justification.
