That's probably to hold your place and will be refunded if your group turns up. The thing to remember is that if you are planning on playing for more than 10 minutes, you're going to need a lot more than the 100 paintballs that are included in the 'free' deal. I used a groupon/scoupon/somethon deal with these guys (maybe 1yr ago) for $40 or so for 400 paintballs - and several of us in the group ended up buying a few hundred rounds of extra paint.
The catch will be the cost of extra paint. Assuming you can buy at the cheaper "before battle" prices as per their website (see Extra Paint Prices half way down this page http://www.ultimatepaintball.com.au/packages.html) I'd be looking at paying $50 to get extra 400 rounds to give you a total of 500 paintballs (including the 100 in the 'free' deal.) That would give you a reasonable number for a pretty good day, and makes this an ok deal if you're not wanting to spend too much and go through too many paintballs. $50 for 500 i'll def consider it again.
Rambo's might need the 900 extra paintballs for $100 - or ozbargainers who see economies of scale and share with your friends. But if you're spending that much, you should compare their regular pricing packages - cause then you get lunch included.
Note - these guys are a ways out of Sydney - but which fields arent.

This is only a 'freebie' if you're willing to fill 2 cars with people and drive from wherever you live to the field, and play for 20 minutes.
What will happen is people will fork out $100's for the extra paintballs, because you're already there.
80% of the cost of a Paintball visit is usually paintballs themselves.
