I actually need a digital album

  • Dam IPS display hmm.. I might get this as a third monitor just to put below my two normal monitors. Anyone have experience with these monitors? Actually I dont even know what to put on the third display.

      Adult educational videos

I usually work from home with my work laptop connected to my ultrawide. Whenever I need to go into work, my portable monitor comes in clutch (can't deal with one sole small display).. highly recommend one for a work laptop, and ez tax writeoff lol

FYI this isn't the portable monitor I use, just giving my own opinion on the usefulness of portable monitors in general :)

      • Working in IT, I asked my boss for an ultra-widescreen like I have at home for the office - got one :D

    • +7

if you're putting it below your monitors, I suggest to fork out a little more and get a touchscreen one. There are quite a few small QOL that makes it a huge workflow improvement. For example, if you're using chrome at the bottom to read a guide, or you're using it to take notes, you can touch it with your finger to scroll to the right part of the page, and the mouse will remain exactly where it was last was, so you can just left click absentmindedly to get back into the page or game you were on.

      • Any touch screen one you recommend?

      • Yes, any portable touch screen monitor you can recommend?

      • I use my 10" Android Tablet for that, very handy.

        • +3

Supposedly you can wirelessly extend your pc screen with android tablet now. I've been considering investing into one with stylus support for mind map note taking.

      • +1

Yeah. Since the last "special", I regret not getting the touch screen one. It is 1000x more useful when connecting enabled devices to it.

    • +1

It's a "software" monitor, so won't benefit from the power of any graphics cards you have / will struggle with anything other than web browsing or youtube. Usually cap out at a lowish frame rate. 60hz is a big maybe. But it's fantastic for laptop office work on the go etc.

For a home setup there is absolutely zero reason to get this over a real monitor, particularly given the price difference to a entry level one is minimal. Unless you have run out of video outputs or something, in which case you can find a secondhand office gfx card very cheap.

And for a home office, it's tiny as balls.

      • Ahh you actually made some really good points. I guess ill stick with my S8 Ultra as a temp third display.

  • +2

Anyone use one of these with MBA M1? How much working time do you get before running out of battery?

Also saw this Asus one on Amazon for $245: https://www.amazon.com.au/ASUS-ZenScreen-Portable-Monitor-MB… not sure if it's worth the extra for a brand name?

    • FWIW, I got this one a year ago https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0966YYP65/ref=ppx_od_d… for work

They work off your laptop's battery so it depends how long your laptop can hold, but it's pretty decent and works well with MBP (Intel) from work, never noticed any issue if I'm working off battery for a few hour.
There's a gotcha on the cable for these "usb c only" screens though, I think you need DP Alt Mode capable cables. I haven't been able to use it without the stock cable from Asus (albeit all my other usb c/hdmi cables are old). Also doesn't work directly with Switch, probably need one of those cable with a power adapter connected to it.

  • In the market for one. From pics on AliExpress, seems this does not support portrait mode?

    • +3

No reason you can't set it to Portrait under Display settings on your computer.

      • Would that feature work if you're using this with an android phone? For eg I want the browser content to auto rotate when I rotate this monitor which is connected to my phone.

        • +2

my guess is that you will need to rotate the phone to match

        • +1

I think the monitor being sold would need to have a gyroscope or some sensors installed to be able to know when it's been rotated. Don't see it listed so I wouldn't count on it

  • +7

I have been in the market for one, and it's tempting at this price point, but I'd probably rather get something from Amazon if I'm going to take a punt on a no-name brand as the returns process will be much easier.

    • +4

yea thats whats stopping me as well, amazon is insane when it comes to returns. they dont screw around

      • +1

If you choose the GC refund option, they credit you the refund as soon as they pick up the tracking number scan. Simply insane how much they trust you.
I guess they can always cancel the gift cards if you send back an empty box.

similar monitor $180.98 after discount from Amazon. This comes with a case

      • +7

Another one with similar price, case and few more reviews. No idea how good but I'm definitely in the market for one now :)

        • this one coming from US?

        • Thanks bought one for $169.21 from Amazon US.

          • @kampret: cool let us know how that goes - arrives in few weeks it seems :(

      • the $180.98 looks good with case and stand

        • +1

          Showing $245.07 for me :(

          • @here4dealz: Yeah, voucher expired or was targeted. I would have bought at $180

            • @Mentok: Back down to $200.58 - $20 Voucher again.

          • @here4dealz: The $40 coupon has disappeared… a few OZB must have clicked..

Lol, I wish I had school holidays instead of a 9 to 5. Looking at your replies on here your life must be pretty miserable for you to be this bitter and angry. Either that or you are the actual 12yo on school holidays larping here and this is some weak attempt at trolling for attention. Hope you find a better outlet for your rage other than ozbargain.

          Username checks out.

    • +7

He did. One sentence introduced the deal and the following were explaining possible use cases for it you muppet

        • +6

          Bit ironic coming from you

I've been looking for a deal on an 11thGen Core i5, and this has got to be it.

Sure it doesn't have a HSF, you'll need one
Sure 12th Gen CPU's and x590 mobo's are already trickling in
Sure you don't need Gen4 Pcie support, may as well slap that mechanical drive back in eh!

Could try reading the title next with the price next time

      • +7

Don't mind U Muppet. He holds a grudge against me for no particular reason (that I can tell) so he runs around saying stupid crap on my deals.

@Sheep Whisperer: Everything is manufactured in China.

Plus most of the community is Chinese-Australian so you might be on the wrong site buddy.

@Sheep Whisperer: Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today

Please respect all members on this community and don’t make any racist remarks about the deals or the members

FWIW, I’m a Chinese and I find your comment to be utterly useless, inappropriate and doesn’t bring any contribution to what the deal has to offer

colour is washed out when viewing from the bottom angle like most normal people would.

  • I find I need either a 16" or 17.3" for two separate windows (document review, etc). So this would be too small for me.

Either way - Good find Op!!!

    • +1

      buy two?

      • I thought about buying two 17.3 portable and 3d printing some hinge and sitting them on top of one another……
        hasn't happened lol.

  • Has anyone used an external andriod tablet as a second monitor ? does that work and can that be a good replacement, albeit lot more expensive than this ?

    • Not many have that function, I use my Chromebook tablet as a second screen but as a seperate computer.

    • hi, i use this setup.

its ok, does the job but i have a samsung galaxy tab A8 and i need to install remote desktop on the tablet and then set it up through ubuntu.
all in all it took about 3 mins to setup and it works, the frame rate is a bit slow BUT for an extra screen its ok….. 10inch is slightly small for my aging eyes though.

    • I have an Android 10" tablet as a second monitor, very handy. Since I don't play games on it, it doesn't have to be powerful, nor colour accurate as I primarily use it for educational material as I try to work on a project on the main screen. I use SuperDisplay as the app on the tablet to act as a second screen.

    • I thought of that too, apparently possible with an app but limited in size..

    • I have an s7 plus which natively supports as a second monitor as long as it's connected to the same wifi. I use it as a 2nd screen for work occasionally and from picture quality and a lag perspective it's good, I often move my teams call on there while I work on other documents and there isn't any real noticeable lag. My main challenge using it regularly is looking at excel and word docs on a 12" screen can be a struggle.

Plus I had one laptop which just didn't want to connect to it as a second screen, so the implementation may not work in all cases.

    • There are plenty of apps available for Android that will do this. Expect some slight lag, but it's usable.

  • +3

The day when oled sheets become the future, just unroll it add it to the wall, and it either syncs via WiFi transceiver or thin cord.

Pack it up and go, this item just goes to show how much monopoly Lg has over the market.

  • +1

I got a zeuslap from a deal a while back for the purposes of mobile working but what I've found this is great for additionally is to occasionally connect to headless devices like home servers or nvrs to troubleshoot. Once done, you can pack them away. The price convenience makes them well worth it.

  • +1

How to get price down to 137 and it shows 156 for me with coupons

    • +4

AU$ is based on the current Mastercard rate at time of posting.

Basically to get the actual exchange rate for any deal you need a card without currency conversion fees. You add that card to PayPal, set the currency to USD on AliExpress, add to cart, apply coupons and at the PayPal checkout you select the card and click "See currency options" to bill the card in USD. Then you get the exchange rate.

If you set AliExpress to AUD or let PayPal do the conversion the rate will often be inflated.

      • +1

I'll have to hand in my ozbargain card! I don't think I'll apply for an additional credit card for this sort of deal. I'll just wear the cost.

      • OP. I haven't got the right card yet. However, I managed to purchase with case and stand for total $155.54
Is that ok, or little to much inflated you think?

  • Anyone try the expresso display (based in Au), or the mobile pixels triple setup?

    • have been trialling the espresso (am probably going to send it back next week) - 15 inch touch screen.
cant seem to get the touch screen to work with my mac mini.
they cost a lot more than this - have not seen enough added function / quality to justify the cost - sorry …
on paper they are super cool mind you - and I have not been using the "portability aspect of them" - was just looking for a good 2nd screen (touch) to compliment my 32 inch one on my desk…

  • Need one for tomorrow :(

  • Can you run this off a battery pack, or does it need mains power?

    • No reason it wouldn't run off a usbc battery pack that can deliver the specs it requires.

      So yes!

  • Well looking to use this as an extension to ipad9 and chromebook. would these be compatible?

  • How many times we all wished laptops had a "just a display with an input port running on its battery" mode!

    • +1

I have a Uperfect X 13.3" portable monitor which has been incredibly useful. It would be great built into laptops.

      • Used it as a second monitor when working away from home for a few weeks
      • Tried out Samsung DeX including as a tablet (NB: no palm rejection if typing)
      • Watching movies
      • Troubleshooting/setting up a Raspberry Pi, PCs
      • pretty cool, didn't know this existed - could see it be an interesting pairing with a surface

  • I bought this one 6mths ago for US$159.70 (AU$238.19) with case/stand but haven't opened it yet.. maybe I should sell it
Much better specs than OP: HaiTume 15.6 inch 4K UHD Portable Monitor 3840*2160 IPS HDR 500 Nits Dual Speaker Gaming Display

    • True, but you will also have to pay more than 100 AUD for this.

  • @Clear with codes tax US $10.28 the total displayed as 106.09. Is it correct?

    • What's the price before the codes?

  • Good morning all. Does anyone know if this has a battery and how long it lasts with general use? Thanks in advance.

    • No battery, needs power connected or can run off your phone while streaming it

    • It supports USB-C PD charging and the adapter supplied is only 15W so any battery bank that supports PD should charge it fine.

  • @Clear, have you found any good deal for OLED portable monitor (at least similar size as this one, or slightly bigger)?

    • They're always US$200 plus so I haven't really checked.

      • Hi Clear, do you think this Arzopa A1 Gamut 15.6'' Ultra Slim Portable Monitor is a good deal too? It is on sale for $US86.66 before tax, code discount and cashback. Or $US82.66 for new user with 5 day delivery. That comes with a case, but it is not that good according to Amazon reviews

        • I shared that one previously and the seller didn't end up shipping orders some I'm hesitant. Specs on this one are better I believe.
