  • Good price for a zbook

  • Legit website?

    • -1

      Look for ABN.

    • Yep.

    • Yes I’m buying from them 4 years now. They’re legitimate.

  • +1

    Price error surely….

    • +1

I thought so, too, until I saw it for ~$1500 on Shopping Express and Aus PC Market:
      https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/hp-zbook-power-g9-15.…

      https://www.auspcmarket.com.au/systems/laptops/hp-laptops/hp…

      • +4

All these resellers appear to be taking a data feed from Dicker Data, and yes, Dicker's price is absurdly low atm. Synnex and Ingram Micro, the other 2 big disties, are the "normal" buy price, which is closer to $4k.

Even large bid pricing wouldnt be close to what DD currently has it at. I will ask my AM there tomorrow if it's an error or correct.

        • I can understand why you double-quoted "normal" :)

There is little movtivation for disties and sub-disties to correct pricing.

Pretty much like petrol, pump-up high quickly, extremely reluctant to drop.

          • +1

@icecream: The Dicker price for the 6J9L0PA and a Seagate HDD bundle is $4094 ex. So unless theyre trying to sell a 2TB USB HDD for nearly $2500 I can guarantee this price is an error and was never going to be honoured.

        • Replying to myself for anyone still reading this thread. The price was an error.

          • @jnewau: So will they honor the price error or cancelling the orders

            • @ozvictor: almost certainly cancel the orders

            • @ozvictor: Do you imagine they'll want to pay nearly $4k for a laptop and sell it to everyone here for $1400?

  • Is this okay for gaming?

    • Negative

      • I would say ok, but not great

        • +1

Its a mobile 3050ti levels of performance at best even with extra vram, you arent getting a mux on this neither. a 1k 3060 deal kills this in gaming even with subpar cpu.

I wouldnt pay the premium honestly if you dont need the a2000 for non gaming workloads.

          • @Brrrrt: I bought for the cpu specs, and a2000 will be decent for photo editing and AI
May give a whirl with an egpu too given TB4

            • @Lonewolf1983: yeah cpu and ram is definitely the pros here, and that screen as well.

              • +1

                @Brrrrt: Screen doesn't seem good, 400nits HDR500?

    • +2

3050 Ti equivalent with more VRAM, I would guess it's okay but not a gaming powerhouse

  • Pretty good price for the specs

    Here as well

    https://www.auspcmarket.com.au/systems/laptops/hp-laptops/hp…

    • +1

      That one says 1080p

  • +2

Shit screen but seems good specs otherwise.

    • +1

I'm not sure why there is this trend for horrible screens on well specced laptops at the moment ☹️

      • +3

Office-bound and WFH people don’t care about laptop screen.

    • +9

      IPS, anti-glare, 400 nits, 100% sRGB

      Blimey how is that "shit"?

      • +3

Ahh I didn't see that one, I was talking about this one.

        15.6" diagonal, FHD (1920 x 1080), anti-glare, 250 nits, 45% NTSC

        • +1

Ah yeah post was updated! Makes sense haha.

  • +1

As above just searched the sku and came up priced similar on SE
    https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/hp-zbook-power-g9-15.…

I bought there (free shipping code automatically applies)
$1461 from a non sketchy supplier was my preference

Note is a single 32gb module so youll need to slot in a 2nd for optimal performance

    • Why need to upgrade RAM its DDR5 not DDR4

      • For dual channel operation, more performance

If anyone wants to sell me their 32gb module from this deal let me know (you can then get 2x16 for yourself)

        • +1

DDR5 is 2 channels per DIMM so that would actually make it quad channel.

          • @HomeAlone: Yeah dual dimm, quad channel
Either way more performance with 2 modules

  • +2

250nits…screen… You barely can see it if U want to use it outside or while sitting in cafe…but rest of the specs r very appealing.

    • +2

Yep and check out that colour gamut 🤮

  • How are these build quality wise vs Lenovo X series? They look like they've taken "inspiration" from Apple but HP machines can be hit and miss sometimes

  • +5

Deal updated to the 4K model, this deal is now a blockbuster
    15.6" diagonal, 4K UHD (3840 x 2160), IPS, anti-glare, 400 nits, 100% sRGB

    • +2

The link with the 4k screen still shows the 1080p specifications in the specifications tab. Not sure if that's accurate?

    • 4k will kill battery life and harder on the gpu but good to have options

      • -1

It's a 4k AMOLED so it uses less power than OLED.

        • +1

Don't count on it. The official HP specs do not mention OLED anywhere.

          https://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=c0815…

  • any link for ebay?

Surely for an extra $60 the 12900h version is better? Plus shipping is free vs not above so its less than $60 diff

    • -1

Way better. 1080p vs 4k AMOLED screen.

      • -1
        • which one is for that specs?

      • Don't count on it. The official HP specs do not mention OLED anywhere.

We will wait till it comes then, as that's what Centrecom says.

        • +3

OLED is only available on specific custom builds.

Anyone expecting OLED is going to be disappointed

This is the exact breakdown on 6J9L0PA - note the screen has zero mention of OLED

    • I purchased through them - but they refunded due to no stock.

  • Really good price for the spec

  • Seems like a decent price but the very few comments/reviews it has on its fb page doesn't particularly instil confidence…

Can anyone share their past experience ordering hardware from them?

    • i paid the slight price premium from the larger retailers in the comments

  • Is the screen ips or oled? Personally would prefer ips to avoid screen burn in

  • I assume the battery life would be non-existent?

  • I like these sorts of deals but always want it in circa 13" with no numpad

  • Monster productivity specs!

  • +1

Try to checkout but said it’s pre order and team will contact you for ETA

    • This is probably worth adding to the deal description… unknown ETA though >.>

      • +4

Yea I wouldn’t place an order with unknown ETA. It will cost them a lot to order it as well for the spec. They might end up holding your money for a few weeks and then canceling the pre orders

  • Dear customer, please note that items HP ZBOOK POWER G9 I9-12900H(14C) 32GB 1TB 15.6" 4K A2000-8GB VPRO IR FP W10P-W11DG 3YR are currently listed as pre-order/on order. You can continue to place a backorder and it will ensure earliest allocation when these products are available. Our team will contact you to notify the expected ETA. Thank you.

    • Will be cancelled similar to other retailers / auspcmarket?

      • almost certainly

  • 6J9L0PA (4k one) is sold out. I don't believe it is touch-screen, but might not matter to many.

  • +2

Bought this one when it was in stock https://www.auspcmarket.com.au/systems/laptops/hp-laptops/hp…
Got an email saying it is not in stock and refund :(

  • Any reason this would be a poor choice for a 4k HTPC?

Seems like you could hide it behind your TV quite easily.

    • +3

Massive massive overkill lol. You could get a $150 USFF Dell Optiplex refurb machine that would be more than cromulent for HTPC uses.

      • -1

        transcoding.

        • +1

Yup more than capable enough. The $1500 one comes with a 6500T which is more than enough. If you feel a bit rich you can spend $50 more and get a 7500t and possible a 8500t.

          • @ChickenDinner123: Didn't know. Good to know. I have issues with my 4th gen i5 HTPC. If 6500T or 7500T solves those that's not a bad idea.

            • +1

@Pikaloo: Yup, I think you would want the 7500t or 8500t as they had a really important feature introduced that makes them ideal for transcoding.

              Just double check.

    • why you like to hide $1400 behind tv… if you hate it give them to me :)
      see above. $150 is okay

  • if you're a design engineer this is too good to pass up

  • +1

sooo… no stock, no deal then ?

  • +1

Highly doubt it that this will be honoured. Still ordered one.

  • What a beast of a cpu (benchmark..) wow

  • Notebookcheck just posted a review of the 4K IPS model:

    https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-ZBook-Power-15-G9-laptop-re…

    VERDICT

    Pros
    + robust metal case
    + good system performance
    + 2x SSD and 2x SO-DIMM
    + Wi-Fi 6E and Thunderbolt 4
    + long battery life
    + good input devices
+ efficient and matte 4K display

    Cons
    - only a small performance increase compared to (11th-gen) predecessor
    - bad speakers
    - soldered WLAN module; no WWAN option
    - no SD card reader
    - display has a red tint in the state of delivery

The ZBook Power 15 G9 is an entry-level workstation, targeting users who need a reliable performance and professional graphics cards. Aside from the processor, our test configuration already corresponds to the maximum configuration with the 4K display, the Nvidia RTX A2000, and abundant storage, which of course also drives up the price. Like its predecessor, the ZBook Power G9 also offers a solid performance in many areas. But particularly in the CPU performance, the results again are not always constant. The situation has slightly stabilized with some BIOS updates, but the workstation is still unable to make full use of the real potential of the Core i7-12700H.

Particularly in terms of the performance development, the ZBook Power 15 G9 is unable to reach top values, but thanks to some BIOS updates, the CPU performance has stabilized to a large extent. After a calibration, the low power 4K display offers a good image quality and allows for a long battery life.

However, to be fair we also have to mention that the entry-level workstations from the competitors, such as the Lenovo ThinkPad P15v or Dell Precision 5560 don't deliver much more performance either, with the three models performing at eye level overall. The 4K panel is basically a very good choice, since it runs very efficiently without driving up the power consumption, but you should calibrate it if possible.

  • Bought the 4k one, haven't got a reply about ETA but the same model on auspcmarket has an ETA of late Jan (confirmed by email), so I assume similar for these guys. There would have to be more stock available as this is a 12th gen new model, but I'll wait and see.
If the i7 one didn't have such a poor gamut I would've just bought it as it's in stock. ☹️

  • +1

If you didn’t get the UHD 4K one (SKU: 6J9L0PA), you can consider the FHD touch screen i9-12900HK one (SKU: 6J9K9PA), it is only $1498.95 on megabuy, $1563 on Shopping Express.

    • How bad would the screen be on that one? Just for e.g. watching movies, web browsing etc.

The UHD 4K was a no-brainer. Screen is much worse but his one still seems worth it.

    • are they trustworthy suppliers?

    • had a 4k laptop for nearly 5 years. cant go back to 1080p

  • +1

Worth trying for the 4K at PCmegamart with back order or do we all think it’ll get cancelled?

    Otherwise I’ll go shopping express.

    • Is PCmegamart legit?

      • I ordered the FHD from Shopping Express before I saw PC Megamart had the UHD on backorder. Figured I can cancel it so tried to order from PC Megamart but got an error on the shipping page saying to email them.

Seems like PC Megamart are legit, an agent replied to my email pretty fast on a Sunday night and is going to send me an invoice to pay on that.

Hope it doesn't get cancelled. Now I don't know whether to cancel my Shopping Express order or not in case the PC Megamart one gets cancelled.

  • +1

CES 2023 has announced some significant tech improvements that make the RRP of this today overpriced:

    • Raptor Lake 13th-gen HX 24C/32T processors (vs 14C/20T offered here)
    • mini LED high-refresh/brightness LCDs with 1024 dimming zones
    • RTX 4000 dGPUs

    Also:

    • 16" 16:10 LCDs (vs 15.6" 16:9 here) has been the norm for premium systems for several years now

So maybe this deal is about right price?

    • +1

fair to say that given this model was listed RRP at what $4k - its safe to say any new model will be at least as much.
