$10 for The First Month Unlimited nbn 25/5, 50/20,100/20,250/25 (Then $65, $75, $85, $110), New Customers Only @ Dodo

60

Spiritual successor to this deal.

$10 for the first month for Dodo's NBN 25/5, 50/20, 100/20 and 250/25 plans.

For 50/20, 100/20 and 250/25, there's also an alternative longer term promotion: $10 off for 12 months.

After promotion pricing is $65, $75, $85 and $110, respectively. Their normal pricing is not good value, since they need some extra margin for customers who bundle gas and electricity (similar story as other companies that offer internet and traditional utilities like electricity and gas, such as Origin).

As per the original deal, Dodo only let you schedule future orders 14 days ahead.

    Dodo = Nono

    • I remember when my parents went through a nightmare with Dodo on their dial up account. Dodo kept billing them for months after they had cancelled it, every month they went through the same process to try cancel it again.

It really surprises me that Dodo has managed to last this long.

      • It really surprises me that people trust Dodo for their gas and electricity

There’s a reason why these birds are extinct!

    "Dodo! Dodo! Internet that dies!"

  • $110 for 250 isn't that bad.

    But

    Dodo.

  • Currently in the process of researching a new ISP as my $10/month discount ends this month. Anyone have personal experiences with Dodo, Tangerine, Flip or More?

    • +1

Been with More since they came in with their 30%.

      No major issues.

Did have some drop issues after being upgraded to Fibre, that one tech was convinced it was their end and they saw countless drops…. called the next day and had another tech insisting it was my end (which ultimately it was with some faulty hardware). So there's that…. but pricing, quick to answer calls etc etc

    • I was with FLIP on NBN25/12 for a year. I moved to Spintel because I wanted to upgrade to NBN50 and they were most competitive at that time. Now FLIP has matched the price and are very competitive however I'm not bothered switching back.

No issues with FLIP, they have great customer support and I haven't had any dropouts during my year with them. Would definitely consider them

  • Outside of sign-up deals like this, I don't think anyone is cheaper than Kogan NBN.

    • 250mbps typical evening speed on Gigabit?

      That's…. ordinary.

      • Idk about other speeds but I pay for the 100/20 and I always get around 110/20. Not sure why but I get a little more juice than I pay for!

NBN Over provisioning. Has been happening for a while now.

    • This may be true, but aren't we all just basically churning every six months?

At the moment, this seems to be one of the best deals.

Prior to that, the Aust Post broadband deal was the winner in my opinion.

Why would I pay somebody to not have internet?

  • +2

Not a great deal. Exetel still has better pricing and far better customer service and quality of service.

    • I was curious about Exetel then I saw they have an option to "boost" your speed for 5 days. Does that mean 5 days of excellent speeds and the rest of the month will be average? Strikes me as odd to even have a speed boost option.

      • +1

There's no conspiracy here. We were on the 50 plan, and then you hit the boost button, and a couple of mins later your internet restarts/resets and goes up to the next speed tier for 24 hours. It worked perfectly for us, and you can store the days in a boost bank, and save them up if you like. It's a great free bonus. We achieved the advertised speeds consistently.

      • The speed boost isn't related to some sort of QoS or whatever, they're just temporarily bumping you to the next speed tier. I'm on 100/40 and get full speed all day everyday but can't go above that as I'm on FTTN.

  • I wouldn’t recommend Exetel

    • Why so?

      • Exetel speeds far faster than tangerine for me

  • $10 is pretty steep for Dodo.

  • Is Dodo really that bad? I'm glad I went with Superloop instead of Dodo yesterday

    • +1

I think for latency-insensitive use cases Dodo is fine. Eg. Video streaming. But if gaming is involved Vocus resellers (for which Dodo is one) is a lower-tier experience.

  • Can you future date it beyond 19th Jan?

Also I used dodo in the last free month promotion, am I a new customer again?

    • You get to choose up to 14 days ahead, and yes, I used multiple free months from Dodo. If you're not a current customer, you're a new customer.

  • Moving in soon, HFC technology. What kind of modem do I need to take advantage of those 6 months churn ?
