  • Got LG QNED 91 last BF, when this model was just launched at $4995/$5495.

    • How are you liking the LG? I should get my 65" delivered tomorrow; set me back $1545.

        Two problems:
It seems incompatible with Google Chromecast with Google TV 4K ver. I got my Google Chromecast connected but it occasionally shows the stripe on the top left corner (like colour faded, can show pic if you want). It disappeared immediately after changing the input source i.e. change to Web OS apps or Nintendo Switch. I have exchanged the Chromecast with a new one but the stripe was still there. Just got LG Web OS updated a few days ago, but haven't tested the Chromecast again.

I was using embedded Airplay to extend the screen of my Apple MacBook Pro M1, but it keeps freezing almost every time (maybe due to my LAN setup).

No other complaints and still an ok TV for me.

Mini LED worth it over the alternatives? Or better to wait a few years for the tech to mature?

    Still quite expensive.

The TCL C835 is probably the best value bang for buck - as far as Mini LED goes

    • 100%.
      Shits all over Hisense.

      • +1

Will probably be even cheaper in the coming months, since the C845 (2023 model) has recently been announced.

I just paid $1450 for TCL 65C835 in JB two weeks ago, including 2 year repair cover bundle.

      • I paid $1600 for the 75inch from good guys on black friday deals..
        Including 10% discounted gcards.

    • No 85inch option though, which is a shame.

    • Been eyeing one for awhile. But seems to OOS everywhere around me.

    Excellent TV.
If only it came in 55".

Check out the TCL C835, it comes in 55 inch and has the GoogleTV User Interface.

It is not a Sony but then again doesn't have the Sony price tag.

  • What's the difference between Mini LED and normal LED?

    • +2

from google, Mini LED is an advancement of LED LCD backlighting technology. The 'mini' part refers to the size of the LED used in the display to produce the light seen on screen. By miniaturising the LED form factor, it allows for more LEDs to be squeezed into the display.

      • +1

It's more about local dimming zone of those many LEDs tho, helping to create the blacks the OLED is famous for

        • +1

          This is correct.
It is deigned to improve blooming.

  • What's better micro LED or mini LED?

    • MicroLED is better, but it will cost ya.

      • Micro is more a commercial option

        • Also correct.
          Not even a consumer option.

i picked up a 77" OLED CS for less than this

    • Ermm how ? Discounted GC I assume ?

      • sorry - context is important i guess. scored a 40% discount voucher from LG

        edit: from https://www.lg.com/au/spin-and-win

        • Yeah it is when most people weren't aware especially me lol, still happy with my 77C1 :)

  • Surely OLED TVs are better unless you need the brightness for daytime viewing.

    • I went from an X9300E to a B7 then back to the X930E.
Bright highlights are more important to me than perfect blacks.
Blooming isn't that much of a problem IMO but some people don't like it.

Next tv won't olead major burn in for me.can see all the red youtube icons.can see the task bar with icons and I can see my Yamaha amp screen saver etched in there as well.

So if you're going to use it as a computer screen you have been warned.

This is on a 2+ year old lg 55"
