Been using it since it was last posted here and works well.

The only drawback is having to logout of my AU Apple ID and into Turkish one whenever I have to top up with TL. Better off putting in enough money for quite a few months. Can confirm that Turgame worked reliably for me multiple times.

    • +29

If you have a Mac computer, the Turkey account could just be another user on the computer. Whenever I need to recharge, I just need to switch to that user and log off afterwards.

Can confirm that Turgame worked reliably for me multiple times.

I think a few people had payment issues depending on their card/bank in the past post, so it might be good to specify which card you used.

      • +6

The wise and Revolut work for me for turgame, both virtual and physical cards. Though my only issue is that turgame advertised delivery in couple of minutes but every time it took 3-5 hours for the delivery

      • +1

        I used 28Degrees MC.

        • -1

Did you do anything special? Mine kept getting rejected…. coudln't add it to my account

I used my ING and it worked. Wait for like 10-15 minutes as it may give an error that payment failed in your order history. But if you check with your bank, it will show that the money was deducted. I got the gift card in 10 minutes and it was all good. Thanks

      • I had issues with ING where the transaction would be blocked by ING each time I tried, with an SMS alert as soon as I had tried to process the transaction.

My Bankwest Platinum Mstercard worked without any issues, and without any overseas transaction fees.

        • Did you use the GPAY or PAYTR option? I tried with Bankwest Platinum Mastercard but kept failing.

    • +3

You only need to log out of “media and purchases”, not out of your whole Apple ID.

    • This is exactly why keep on Apple AU

    • Why can't you use an international payment card? For recurring billing?

seems like a pretty cool workaround.

any risk in getting caught and losing all of my sh t?

    • Yes, there's a risk. Don't believe there's a precedent for it happening, but nothing stopping them from doing it in the future.

I'd say it's unlikely, but at the end of the day you're at their mercy.

Definitely back up any critical data on other services, or locally.

      • -1

yeah, if I jump on the apple one deal, I'll save so much in a matter of months from switch to apple music from spotify alone.

        Good deals.

        • Tidal is good too, $3 a month or something via previous deals.

      • -3

Being Apple, they’re likely to give a heads up. Not only do they risk losing iCloud revenue they may also lose an iPhone/Mac user over $20 a year.

At worst it’d be like if you stop paying for iCloud, you get 30 days to clean it out.

        • You couldn't possibly know that. I'd be surprised if this wasn't against their terms of service, and under those circumstances, it isn't the same as a feature getting removed, it's banning someone with what could be seen as nefarious intentions from their system.

Or maybe they'd be kind and do what you said, either way I wouldn't leave critical data and put it in the hands of one company, particularly when I'm circumventing a system to avoid paying full price.

Definitely not saying don't do this, but there is absolutely a risk here - and if you're storing anything you'd be upset with losing then you should absolutely have copies in multiple other places.

          • @snoopydoop: Definitely is against their terms and definitely could be deleted, but the likely response is they won’t due to customers impacted, the level of impact and the cost/benefit.

It goes both ways, if data is critical then saving $20 a year is a bit daft. I don’t use Gamepass VPN tricks because I use my Microsoft account for critical things.

            • +1

@freefall101: You have confidently said its against T&C.

              Which T&C is it against?

              • @fiveferrari: Good point, every other product has T&Cs around location and home country but iCloud doesn't seem to.

        • instant account removal ,data locked/removed. No 'being apple…' bullshit. It is in their 'Terms of service'.

          • @dan0909: lol

if this happens dm me and ill shout you a carton

            • +1

@191919: what good is a carton when you loose your 5-7 years of good photos, playlists and other data?

              • +1

@dan0909: i agree you should back things up somewhere else, but i personally think there is 0% chance of apple just deleting your shit with no warning, esp if you've given them money, (even if it was done dodgily)

My existing AU Apple ID is already having an iCloud+ subscription (200GB) and being shared with two family members (Both AU Apple ID's).

What's going to happen if I create a new Turkish Apple ID, and invite my existing Apple ID, and other two family members into a new Turkish iCloud+ subscription? Does my existing subscription automatically stop, and get transferred to the new Turkish subscription?

    • There are comments of people on previous post. I think they got pro rata refund on current plan.

    • +1

In my case, my AU subscription gets cancelled automatically and refunded prorated.

      • What happens to the data like Hide My Email & others associated with the previous AU account?

    • Interested in this too.

    • Yes, Did that and no issues. Payment was refunded and all my family members moved to the new ID. Apple actually helped me to transfer one of my family members account to the new ID as i had issues due to my MacBook was running old version of macOS (it’s 2012 MacBook). Hope that helps Thanks

      • Appreciate the info, thanks.

What about contents that were previously uploaded/synced as part of the existing iCloud+ subscription? Do you have to manually ‘transfer’ or resync to the new subscription? Or it just happens automagically?

        • +1

It’s all automatically done with icloud backup if I’m understanding it correctly? You’re old backups will remain on icloud for 1 month to download it(that’s the case if you’re downgrading to default 5Gb per month or moving to different family account ). I manually initiated iCloud backup once my account was setup and you don’t have to worry about the old backups. To make sure you’re backup is there just check the iCloud storage and it will breakdown the whole family account usage. But still you have 1 month if you run into issues or if you want to save it somewhere else. Cheers

But how does your need scenario relate to other people’s?

      • +3

I needed it within the first year of owning an 11 pro. 3.2gb for just the phone backup. 2gb of messages…. I pay google for photo storage though

      • Not my problem if you’re stuck in the year 2000 lol

    • -1

because they are just reselling Microsoft OneDrive, not their infrastructure.

      • I don't think that's true. I believe these days they use the Google Cloud platform.

      • +1

believe they use multiple cloud providers.

  • can i pay using revolut / wise via direct debit? or have to buy loaded cards online and made the payment? anyu idea?

  • can i buy like 5 years worth at once?

    • You can load money on your account and it will automatically deduct monthly. No Annual options as far as I know.

      • any expiry on funds?

        • No

  • How about using same workaround for Apple One+ ?

  • does it work for Apple Premier for family too?

    • You mean Apple One?
Apple one is not available in Türkiye and that tier isn’t available in India.

  • I’ve tried several times and haven’t been able to join AU family. It might be possible to create a new one.

  • Does this mean I will need to sign into my devices with the new Apple ID? If so, it would “n’t it have significant ramifications given how tightly integrated Apple ID is with everything?

    • Just the purchases section not signing out the entire ID.

      • Are you able to elaborate?

Edit: ignore, I see the steps in the description now. Thanks

  • Can you use an existing number (current ph number associated with my au Apple ID) when creating a New Turkish Apple ID?

    • Yes you can

  • Are the iTunes cards necessary or could the sub payment be set to automatically deduct from the credit card?

    • +1

Apple Türkiye doesn’t accept AU cards, that’s why the gift cards.

      • Thanks

  • And any issues with using HSV?

  • Did this the other day. Had issues with Turgame so went with codes off G2A instead which worked alright. Worked out to be something like $6 or so a month. No major hitches. A couple of things though - it seemed to reset my Find my Friends amongst the family members I already had on there and those I invited. Basically I had to reinvite and be reinvited to share locations (not a big deal but just something to think about). Also, just a general gripe about Apple, but the UI to set up Family Sharing is really crappy and not intuitive at all. To set up iCloud storage there's a number of menus you have to go through which are really not intuitive. They need to up their game on their settings function.

Sad that this doesn’t have News+ and Fitness+ included. Also not sure how I feel about backing up all my info through a hack, could Apple ban the account if found out?

  • +1

I've been sharing the 2TB plan with the family for the last year or so.

For any crypto people here, I use Bitrefill to purchase the gift cards. I find its a lot more reliable than turgame, instant delivery. Paired with binance pay there is no payment fees either.

  • Do i have to change my AU ITunes account country to Turkiye before adding it the new TR iTunes Family?

    • Nope. That’s the point if creating a separate ID

  • Anyone having issues with OTP from Turgame? Can't seem to verify my number and proceed with payment.

    • My OTP was pre-populated on my PC which was really weird.
I never received an OTP SMS
So I just clicked submit with the pre-poluated 4 digits and it worked fine.

    • I did, I created an account instead, I never received the OTP on my phone.

  • Does sharing the iCloud space like this make files from one available to be opened by other people in the family share, or are we all in our own isolated silos but the total quota of space is shared between us all?

    • Isolated, unless you share a specific file with the other iCloud user.

      • thanks, looks like this might be a way to consolidate a bunch of accounts.

  • Nice, thanks OP.

  • +1

Any issue with linking your AU number if it’s the same number you use for your AU Apple account?

    • No issues for me. Linked to four IDs

  • I'm with 200GB p/m for $4.49 plan since a long time. Is it worth the potential risk and hassle of changing/logging in and out for less than $3 a month (less than a coffee cost these days). I understand for ppl requiring 2TB plan it's a substantial saving.
I'm more worried about apple banning it or any 2FA not working someday and losing all my data.

    • +1

It's a real risk, but from what I have seen the data stays with each of the Apple Accounts, they would have to ban all members.
Losing access to the primary account, does not risk your data in the other accounts, you are just sharing the quota allocation.
Should never rely on a single cloud provider. O365 Family is a good cost effective way to backup Media and Photos as the OneDrive App is quite reliable. It backs up HEIC format, but I don't believe you can access the additional Lifeview frames, just the KeyFrame is backed up, can anyone confirm?

  • Will I get notified once my Turkish Apple account has run out of credit for the monthly charge?

  • -3

    Few gotcha's though;
    - You can't share the space with your existing family members\accounts, as all accounts need to be in the same country (yes they can all change their countries, but note the next point). May have changed this was months ago when I tried.
    - Purchases are now limited to Apps on the Turkey store.
    - Any Apps installed using the previous ID will fail to update. To update these, you need to delete\re-install with the new account, or sign-out \ back-in with the new account.
    - I use to sign-up to services, like Disney, or basically anything that requires an in-app purchase to receive discounted pricing (many not all, there is a separate post showing all the discounted pricing

    • You can't share the space with your existing family members\accounts, as all accounts need to be in the same country

That doesn't seem consistent with what the post is describing:

      • While logged in using Turkey ID start Family Sharing group and invite your AU account. Make sure you add iCloud+ to sharing with family.
      • Logout from Turkey Apple ID and login back with AU Apple ID.
      • Accept Family sharing request and enjoy iCloud+
      • Yes, I will need to re-try and report back.

    • You can't share the space with your existing family members\accounts, as all accounts need to be in the same country (yes they can all change their countries, but note the next point). May have changed this was months ago when I tried.

      That’s not true.

Purchases are now limited to Apps on the Turkey store.

      Not sure what you mean.

Any Apps installed using the previous ID will fail to update. To update these, you need to delete\re-install with the new account, or sign-out \ back-in with the new account.

Partially true. Mostly you should be able to update apps even when logged in with other ID. Only occasionally if you haven’t logged in into other ID for a while / restarted your device etc when it will just ask for your password of that ID

      • All these discussions with "previous" ID and "other" ID is all so confusing for me : )

Let's just use AU ID (being the primary ID) and TU ID (being the solution of this deal).

Are people going to have problems updating apps installed under theor AU ID?

        • Are people going to have problems updating apps installed under theor AU ID?

Ideally, after getting subscription you should log out of your TU ID and log back into AU ID. So there shouldn’t be any problems. You should only sign back into TU ID if topping up funds or changing/cancelling sub.

You should also be able to download all required apps via your AU ID so that way you can update them without issues. Unless it’s a turkish only app.

      • Not my experience. 7-Eleven is a good example, it wouldn't update despite continually prompting for a password.
Then when I went into Apps, noticed about 20 that had not updated to newer versions and would not update even when putting in the correct password.
Just calling out experience may vary.

As for sharing iCloud+, checking RedIt, implies this changed about 12 months ago, you can now share "Apple One storage and TV+, Music subscriptions" with members in different countries.

    • First sentence of the post

  • +1

have this setup - and shared with existing AU icloud family for over a year already.. thanks @Pricebeat

  • Would this work with Apple One? Fitness, tv, arcade etc?

    • +1

Nope, that isn’t available in Türkiye.

  • Awesome OP, thanks.

Recently created a Türkiye Apple ID for my my moves to YT premium and Netflix so half my work is done!

    • Won't work for Netflix, works for Disney+ though.

      • Huh? I just recently did it so yeah, it does.
