Pinnacle 1830 x 1820 x 540mm 4-Tier Heavy Duty Shelving Unit $178 (Was $296) + Delivery ($0 in-Store) @ Bunnings

2400

I had been keeping an eye on this one for a while, and was pleasantly surprised this morning to receive a notification from Price Hipster that the price of the shelving unit had dropped from $296 down to $178.

The shelving unit was last on sale at this price in August 2022.

Enjoy!

From the Bunnings website:

  • Heavy duty wire shelves with support braces
  • Heavy duty design
  • Rubber foot caps for added stability
  • 625kg weight load capacity per shelf (when evenly distributed)
  • Powdercoated matte black

This heavy duty 4 tier adjustable shelving unit has a black powder coated finish and a total weight capacity of 625kg per shelf. Great for heavier items. With easy assembly, the shelving bays simply snap together and tapped into position with a hammer or mallet.

I found bunnings dropped this price last night. and confirmed this morning in store and placed order for two . Just when I wanted to post it here, saw your post.

I was considering to build one with the rackit., but for the price of one rackit 40mm system, i can get two of these which certainly surface.

    • Yeah this is def a great choice if you were considering the 400kg rackit system and don't need the modular options rackit provides.
Here is their website listing: https://www.pinnacle.net.au/product/4-tier-heavy-duty-adjust…
I don't think it is compatible with the rest of their storage options.

    • Awesome

      RACK<IT
Is this the modular system referred to? https://rack-it.com.au/

    • Interesting - I purchased two of these RackIT units in Feb 2021 for $270 ea, and now they are almost $100 more expensive. They are quality units and being able to join and extend them has been good. I have some of the pinnacle racks and the quality is chalk and cheese. Shame they jacked the prices so much (inflation doesn't really explain a 26% increase per unit in under a year … )

Bunnings price-matching/beating ALDI's Upcoming Special Buy

    • Which one is better?

      • +3

Always Bunnings version. In the past Aldi is harder to assemble, not as finished off properly and has sharp edges.

        • I would have to agree. I've purchase ALDI Garden & Bike Shed previously (deeply discounted) and they were a pain to build.

        • +2

It took me 15-20 mins to assemble the Aldi version..its was very very simple.

Quality seems comparable. I got 2 from Aldi @$99 each.

          • @MANU7D: How did you only pay $99? Aren't they $179 at ALDI?

            • +1

@placard: The way I got mine for 79 was because when they didn't sell in the first week or two at Aldi, they became too bulky to keep on the floor, so about half a dozen shops kept them out back and they didn't get seen to be sold. When I enquired at one store that did have them out the week before they had sold out but got me the names of 6 stores that had stock, some still have 10+

          • +4

@MANU7D: I got 3 from Aldi for 79 bucks each. I can't see how Bunnings matching Aldi maximum price is a good deal. The real deal is waiting for this bulky item that won't sell out at Aldi going off the batch they got a few months ago getting discounted again in a month.

Not to mention the fact that why anyone would want to reward bunnings for ripping us off 350 days a year when Aldi doesn't have something on sale is beyond me

      • +2

I've got some of this stuff…it's solid.

Also have some Rack It 1000kg…more solid, but the Pinnacle is still excellent.

        • +1

TIL Rack It is a well-regarded household name

  • +1

Pretty sure this is too big and heavy to be included in OnePass free delivery.

    • Good pick up. Updated the title of the deal.

  • I have two in the garage and these are very good.

    • Is this easy to put together? Thinking of purchasing these for the garage.

      • +5

Is pretty easy but using a rubber mallet will make it 20 times faster. In fact, you will struggle to assemble it without a mallet.

        • Big yes for using the rubber mallet. Wish i had room for more as the one i have is great

    • is bolting these a must? or they heavy enough that there is no chance of toppling over?

      • +1

They are quite sturdy but stability will depend on how you distribute weight. I would keep the heaviest items towards the bottom shelves and the lightest items towards the top to keep the center of gravity low.

Having said that, I've not put anything too heavy on them right now. If I were to do it I would consider bolting them to the wall.

  • +1

I have this and it’s great. My shed is lovely and tidy, it’s huge and holds everything. No problem with one person assembly,
    .

  • +3

These are top notch, especially at this price. Just make sure you have a rubber mallet or something similar to bash the shelves in place when putting it together.

  • Does this need to be bolted to the wall or anything?

    • No it doesn't as none of mine are but you can if you want to…

    • +1

You can if you intend on storing very heavy stuff up the top. Comes with a mountain bracket. It’s sturdy enough that I didn’t find it necessary though.

  • +4

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/254668763486
These are for $160 with eBay coupon code delivered. Not heavy duty but better looking IMO for those who don’t really want heavy duty shelves

    • Postage:
AU $352.71 Freight: Large and bulky items

How are you getting free freight?

    • +1

These are coming up with $104 delivery for me in QLD.

    • Better looking? If you like blue and orange colour. Wider dimensions too

    • I have 4 of these, the 2m x 2m x 0.6m.
I rate them for the price. Put heaps of heavy stuff on mine with no issues. Shelves are a bit flimsy but do the job well enough.

  • +16

Total weight is 45kg. Am I going to be able to carry this out of the store myself? Just a regular dude with a dad bod. Will prob be wearing my crocs

    • +2

      Doesn't your Bunnings have trolleys

      • +13

The trolleys are for wheeling dogs around, not shelves.

    • +8

I did this (kinda)! I had someone in store help me load it onto a trolley, vertically. I was able to then pay for it, navigate carefully to my car, and load it into my sedan (with the backseats down) without issue. I am also an average guy with a dad bod.

    • +2

They are an awkward 45kg i think the delivery fee is pretty damn good to get these delivered to your door rather then muck around fitting in vehicle or trailer.

        Not an alphamale comment

        • +7

          Alfalfa male?

    • +4

Bought three of this last sale, loaded/unloaded all by myself, fk heavy though, better to go with a mate.

      • +1

I got the guy at the store help me load them on to a trolley, a nd then loaded them on the roof racks on my car. I would have thought twice if I realised it was 150kg, but I only hd to go about a km. Getting them down by myself was touch, pulled a muscle in my neck but it came good after a couple of days. Not for the feint hearted

    • I sincerely hope you walk out with a nice rack!! Your neighbors will be envious

    • +1

I got two and loaded them on the trolley myself no issues. You can always give it a shot. Use the trolleys built for trade loads instead of ones made to house kids. I just loaded one on top of the other and handled carefully till they were loaded into the car.

    • Will prob be wearing my crocs

Will probably get your feet crushed. For the love of God wear some safety boots lifting heavy weight.

  • Click and collect doesnt work at any store near me, guess I'll have to try my luck in store (seems to be stock everywhere)

    • No click and collect for me as well, but my local had plenty of stock.

      • +2

Maybe no click n collect due to their size

  • +2

Are these easy to disassemble and move in a years time?

    • +3

Yeah. Same as assembly basically just a rubber mallet and bang away.

  • +6

These are so much better than other storage solutions I had in the past and easy to set up. Very sturdy and highly recommended.

Can take apart in future if required.

They’re heavy when picking up from memory so watch your backs! Managed to fit 2 of them in my hatchback haha

    • +2

Gotta love a hatchback. Poor man's ute

      • +1

Only thing better is the lift back

  • +1

$40 extra to get four sets delivered…$752 total. Bargain

  • Will it fit boot of car?

    • If your second row can be folded, yes. I used a civic to carry it home.

  • Speaking of this brand, does anyone have any experience with the Pinnacle Heavy Duty Work Station? Thinking of picking up two of the Shelving Unit with one of the work stations - bit pricey at $449 though. I wonder if there's an ozhack to replicate it at a cheaper price?

    • +1

Yeah, it's called pine lumber and DIY.

      • +2

We've got a Sherlock over here. Timber benchtops and pegboards aren't exactly free, so the ozhack reference was more about if it was worth the effort to investigate.

        • -1

They aren't, but it is your cheaper option, a fun DIY, and 1000% customisable.

You can get structural timbers dirt cheap off gumtree, sometimes even free from a large building project.

You can make your own benchtop by laminating a bunch together. It's just glue.

      • Or dexion and DIY will give you a more comparable product, but unsure if it will be much cheaper. It's worth it if you have high ceilings, you can take it up to 2.4 or 3m.

On a side note these laminated bench tops were going very cheap and they are far better than most of the mdf bench tops you get with a lot of these style of workbenches. It's expired but worth checking if they are still around cos the links still work or at least 3 of them.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/734622

    • The only difference I can see is, it's 2090 height, (26cm higher) vs 1830 of one of these units.
Has the faux/fake timber bench top, and peg board.
I can't remember how much the 2090 version of the rack unit is, but I picked up an extra one of these, last time these were on special, August maybe, with th exact same idea, to make it a work bench, by finding/buying a panel to sit on top for the work bench part. Not overly fussed on the peg board part, can't see me ever using it.
I haven't got round to setting it up yet ….it's on my to-do list

    • Parents have a couple in the shed. Very sturdy benches.

  • +1

How does this compare to the Montgomery of similar dimensions?

    • +1

Pinnacle is good brand for great quality.

Montgomery is bunning brand to compete with Aldi, but much better than Aldi

  • +9

    Pinnacle 2090x2100x540mm 5 shelf version (400kg per shelf) is on clearance for $50. I/N: 0312812. https://nrby.in/bunnings/0312812

    • +3

About 98% of stores show out of stock, zero stock.
But a bargain if you could grab one or two

    • +1

Capalaba store in QLD dont actually have any.

    • +6

for SA people; Mt Barker and Woodville both told me they don't have any. Both times it was staff walking around checking
      .

      • +1

        Same here for Launceston.
Staff looked for the 3 in stock but they're long gone.
Price was apparently $25 so imagine the joy of whoever snapped up those last few…

  • Are the uprights one or 2 piece?

  • +2

These are great, solid built and looks good
Definitely need a mallet to assemble and easier to get it delivered, it's pretty heavy.

  • Any word on whether these are suitable for outside? I'm looking at setting something up for my propagating area that'll get them off the ground (****ing sheep got out last week and caused havoc).

Being galvo, I'd kind of assume so, but don't see anything listed about external use

    • +2

It says powder coated, not galv.

Typical powder coating is just straight over raw steel and no prep. Don't expect it to last as long as HDG before the rust shows up.

    • It's not galvanised. Its only powder coated.

  • +2
  • tough decisions, one or two

    • +3

      Didnt need any, got two.

      • +6

        Well played.
I better buy 3 to reassert dominance

    • Just do what i did and get 4 :)

    • 5 will be perfect

    • +2

Always best prepared. Always need a spare.

      • I was gonna buy 2. But then I thought eff it, I'm buying 3. $40 delivery not bad either.

        • +2

Nice, don't have room for 3 but went with 2, looking forward to getting garage organised better.
          Cheers all

  • Is the package size of 1780x570 on Bunnings site accurate? Mainly concerned with the length. (Please refrain from "that's what she said" comments);

    • +1

1860x570 packge size, 100% sure. Measured by myself. Can't imagine 1830mm upright put in a a 1780mm packge.

      • +1

        Thats what she said
