[TAS] Fee-Free TAFE Courses - Certificate II to IV Level @ TasTAFE

TasTafe have joined the other states (e.g. QLD & NSW) by offering fee free courses including short courses, Certificate II, Certificate III and Certificate IV.

Unfortunately there's no Diplomas or a large number of courses available, however many are applicable to the local industry. Including Arboriculture, Agriculture, Horticulture, Dairy Production, Wine Industry Operations and Information Technology.

To be eligible for Fee-free TAFE, at the time of enrolment you must be:

  • a resident of Tasmania or working in Tasmania
  • an Australian or New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent resident or an eligible VISA holder, and
  • of working age.

Applicants must also meet any specific entry requirements for individual courses.

  • Don’t take this the wrong way, but do these TAFE and fee free HECS courses allow you to get a concession card?

    • Not in Tasmania. They're for Seniors, Pensioners, Veterans, Companions and Health. I think you mean a student discount? Certainly if you get a TAFE id.

      • Student card is based on how many hours you do, I wanted to do part-time study in Vic which costs $$ as short courses as no gov subsidy, I enrolled for the full course but dropped a few classes (ones not offered at night as was working in daytime) , meant cheap tuition and I got a student card for discounts …..

          If your course is of at least 6 weeks at TasTafe you're eligible for a card upon request. In some cases you can get it for shorter courses.
