8x AA Eneloop Rechargeable Glitter Batteries at DSE $19.99 + Postage

2130

Some of you have been holding out waiting for the Eneloop Glitter batteries to come on special, and here they are.

No longer available for click and collect. Booo.

Postage looks to be $4.95, maybe more if you're out in the sticks, just enter your postcode to find out before you order.

Copied from the website unedited:

Just as the classical eneloop, the eneloop glitter batteries get pre-charged at the Japanese factory with electric power, which is generated from solar energy. For this reason the batteries are ready to use directly after being purchased. Thanks to its low self discharge eneloop glitter keeps approximately 75% of its initial charge even after 3 years of storage. Like eneloop, eneloop glitter can get recharged up to 1500 times. The batteries are having a nominal voltage of 1,2V and a rating capacity of2000 mAh.

Additionally the limited edition packs include batteries in 8 different glitter colors: purple, pink, orange, yellow, light green, light blue, silver and black, which enables users to pick colors according to their taste or to use colors to remember which batteries are charged and which ones need to be recharged.

  • Bought another pack - got one last time the deal was up (pretty sure it was free shipping then).

Paid for postage as no sufficient stock nearby. Deal isn't quite as good with shipping attached, but who cares… they're nice looking cells ;)

  • Just in time for 'I will Survive'.

  • Click and collect @ Cranbourne, VIC ok. Also confirmed on-line price with store staff……thanks OP

  • Successfully click and collected at Chullora. Also can you charge these with non eneloop brand chargers?

    • yes you can

  • Cheers OP, couldn't pick up the Hills area so I got them delivered to my work.

  • Darn! Can't resist with the colours. Bought it! Cheers OP!

  • thanks 4 packs ordered

  • Now only available online.

  • Thanks OP been waiting on these for ages! 16 cells of glittery goodness are coming my way in the mail!

IF stores aren't honoring offered prices,
the need to be reported to your local/state
    Consumer Affairs.

I think they'll find that raising prices
at the shop is -not- legal.

(Also, DSE has often been observed to offer
NEW, but - at the shop - stock only REPAIRED
goods. I'd say this is as wrong as raising
the price, & I'd like to know if anyone's
raised this issue with a Consumer Affairs,
&, if they have, what the result has been.)

    • It's an online only deal. Stores have no obligation to match online prices.

Bought my first eneloops today =)

    • congrats

  • Just bought 2 packs. Thanks

    • -2

Were there any savings in S+H, when ordering -more- than 1 pack, for shipment to your home, in the same order?

      • +12

It's capped at $4.95 for up to 5 packs (maximum per purchase).

I hope this helps with your non-purchase eneloop trolling.

  • Thanks, OP.

  • I'm sick of people throwing my recharables away. Hopefully the pretty colours will help them remember. I ordered 2 packs.

    • Use a highlighter to highlight "rechargeable" so they won't throw them away again.

    • An odd suggestion perhaps - Have a second lot charged up ready to go, change them all at the same time yourself so that others aren't handling them, rinse and repeat.

Maybe do this once a month or at whatever interval you think is required to stop others removing and discarding them.

    • +3

stick goatse images on your batteries, nobody will touch them

  • Thanks, just bought 5. I can't have enough of eneelop :). These are made in japan.

    • Lol why didn't you buy an even number to match them up?
Btw, you bought the wrong batteries, eneelop are the knockoff brand :P

  • Wouldn't mind this, but don't even have $20 in my account, nice deal though.

  • Tempted. Would I have any issues charging these in an ordinary NiMH charger? My Sony's are getting old, and they aren't in production any more (Absolute best batteries I've used!) so these will be great.

    • These would be much better than the Sony. Any NiMH will be ok as these eneelop is just like the NiMH except it has much lower charge leakage.

  • Thanks OP waiting for a while for this deal

  • thanks! yeeah finally got some! :) AAA's next please…

  • Bought 2 packs.

  • Got two packs! :)

  • I hope they've got enough stock for all these orders!

  • Thanks for sharing. bought 2.

  • Bought 3, thanks.

  • Out of interest- what are people using all these batteries for?/so often that they require recharging

    • +3

Oh, you are telling me that they are real batteries for charging? I have bought these for display.

    • My eneloops will be going in the RC car. 8 in the controller & 4 in the car.

    • +1

Flashlights.. No idea why I need 16 batteries though.

      • +1

My flash light uses 8 AAs.
        My headlamp uses 4 AAs.

    • Have to replace the batteries in my Ergorapido. A shame because I will miss seeing all the glitterful colours.

      • How do you replace the batteries in a Ergorapido vacuum cleaner? Do they use rechargeable AA batteries?

        • +1

The 12V version has 10x NimH rechargeable AA's, 6 around the motor, and 4 in the handle. They are not very good batteries either…. I think they were about 1100mAh, so these eneloops are way better. Only thing is the existing batteries are the ones with the solder tabs, which are a fraction shorter and easier to solder than standard aa's. They do fit though. Main thing is, be careful when soldering these eneloops because you don't want them to get too hot. Make sure to use a powerful enough soldering iron so you can solder quickly and avoid heat going into the cells. You need to cut a small piece of plastic to be able to remove the cells around the motor. It takes a bit of fiddling, but it beats buying a new vacuum broom, and the Eneloops are a lot better than the batteries in a brand new machine. Not sure what batteries the 18v version uses though.

        • +1

You might find the eneloops easier to solder if you file where you're going to solder back a bit, takes off the nickel or chrome plating or whatever it is and the solder takes to them much easier and with less heat.

Practice on some old disposables, see if it works for you.

Must have. Ordered 2 packs with home delivery. Just noticed that I am always late to get a good deal here. Gladly paid $5 delivery just to secure my glitter treasure. No more shopping for batteries for at least 3 years.

how gay do you have to be to want to buy a pack of these………click - order x1000000
    thanks xD

    • +2

:-) Well, apart from that those will be 99% of the time hidden inside a device…
When they are out and girls are around it may be a good conversation starter, as you will attract an attention with those. And then, it is up to you and your ability to develop something from there (endless possibilities from bunny rabbit to a "personal massager" related type of conversation. I agree, it may work as well in the gay community (and nothing wrong with that, if you are into it)

    • Can people not see this was a joke lol

  • Ordered 2 packs.

    Thanks.

    Where can I get sleeves?

Here is a charger + AAA deal (and some AA as well). Is it a smart charger?

    http://junglejumble.com.au/sanyo-quick-charger-eneloop-aa-4-…

    • +2

The glitter pack comes in a resealable pack, so don't need to worry about a battery case for them. But for other eneloops you may want to invest in a case.

This week thanks to Ozbargain I came into possession of 4 glitter AAA eneloops, 8 regular AA eneloops and 16 glitter AA eneloops. The only 'charger' I have is a logitech mouse that runs off an AA eneloop and is capable of recharging the battery inside of the mouse. So I am in the market for a charger. I am not an expert, what I have to say here is based on a couple of days of web research.

If the Jungle Jumble item has the correct picture, it is a smart charger and as far as I can tell the best eneloop branded AC charger.

To give a quick run down.

This here is the MQN04 eneloop charger (note the 2 green LEDs on top, it is the cheapest but it is a timer charger, so if a partially charged battery is put in it will be overcharged, which can reduce the lifespan of the battery.
      http://www.sanyo.com.au/images/products/Batteries/NCMQN04_an…

The next step up is the MQN06, I don't believe that this model is sold by Australian retailers, however it was the charger that comes with the amazon superpack here (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/74950). Note the 2 green LEDs on the bottom. It is a smart charger (i think), however it apparently chargers in pairs (one LED per pair I am guessing), not sure what happens if there is only one battery in the charger. It is a apparently slower than the one in your link.
      http://www.cpfreviews.com/Batteries-Sanyo-Eneloop-Green-Onli…

The one in your link appears to be the NC-MQR06, which seems to be not sold in the USA. It has 4 blue LEDS (one per battery) on the bottom (they are behind the white outer plastic and are only visible when lit and on the later models has quick written on the outer slots. It is a smart charger and charges each battery individually. It sounds like it is the quickest and best of the eneloop chargers. The one issue is the smart technology, is not the typical smart charging found in other brands and may not work as well with non-eneloop rechargeables. I'm guessing however, this is better for the the eneloop than if it was placed in another brands charger. Look here for more info(http://www.electronicswarehouse.com.au/blog/sanyo-eneloop-ba…). This is more expensive than the N06, I'm not sure if the extra features of the R06 outweigh the value of the powerpack. If the powerpack came with a R06 rather than the N06 it would be a no brainier.
      http://www.netcomputadores.com.br/dbimg/produtos/nc_mqr06w_1…

I'm not sure which one I personally will get, but I hope that helps.

If anyone seems a mistake with any of that please correct me.

      • thanks for the comparision. as the quick charger is not that cheap, is it better to spend a little extra and go for a maha charger ?
and why do eneloops need to stay in resealable cases?

  • My Fenix TK41 uses 8 x AA + A fully charged set ready to swap in.
My Son's Fenix TK45 uses 8 x AA + A fully charged set ready to swap in.
    My 2 x Spark SD-52 Headlamps use 4 x AA for both + 4 x AA For Backups
    My Son's ZebraLight H51 uses 1 AA + 1 For backup

    So that's 42 Just for those ..

I need some good battery storage cases .. any recommendations ?

    • +1

You could probably buy another torch and store your batteries in that.

    • There are a heap on Amazon, want me to look for you?

      • I'm interested in one too, so why not? :-)

    • Nice collection. I used to be a flashaholic and still have 3 zeabralights, 4 surefire lights, 3 HDS lights, 20 various lights that I not care to mention including Fenix, Nitecore, etc…

  • +1
    • Thanks.
      Got some too…

  • so tempting but i have to resist as already bought 8 packs from last sale.

    • What the hell are you running that requires so many batteries?!

  • Can you charge these with any normal battery charger?

    • +2

No… needs to be a AA battery charger. Your car battery charger will not work.

  • Great deal! I ordered 2 packs on Tuesday afternoon and they were just delivered.

    • +1

same! Finally I can distinguish my xbox controller from my housmate's!

  • My shiny eneloops have just arrived.

I tested all 16 with my multimeter and all 16 were 1.33V.

    • Sounds alright, what's the voltage of a freshly charged cell?

  • mine just got here this morning, yey!

  • ..Speedy delivery - Ordered yesterday…..received today…IMPRESSED with Dicksmith' delivery!!!

  • Do they use AAE? Apparently I have a missed package from them..

    • Startrack Express delivered mine.

      • Yer. Bugger. Delivery delayed till Monday! Needed some charged batteries for a shoot tonight haha. :(

  • I am surprise it has not been ozbargained.

    • They probably had a heap of stock in anticipation. Many thousand.

  • Why is it that some people can click and collect and some can't?

    • They probably have stock at their nearest store. Only 1 store near my home or job had anystock at all when I made an order

  • Order mine onling for home delivery. got mine today, they are so sparkly :)

    • and it was delivered very quickly, i was actually pleasantly surprised. Well done DSE !

  • Click and collect not available, so I thought I'd try the local DSE and they refused to sell any store stock to me for less than $39.95 - pretty bad business (or stupid rep) really when you think about it, so I've ordered online. Good way to kill their bricks and mortar stores faster than they already are.

  • Wow Fast post!!!!

  • Got mine yesterday. Holy f**knuckles they are sparkly!

  • Got mine.

  • Can anyone tell me or point me in the direction of a cree torch that uses AA batteries :D I need a use for them lol

  • Back up to $39.99 d'oh…

  • Offer has now expired :( I hope everyone that got these is happy with their purchase and gets many years out of them.

If anyone did miss out, you can still get 8 non glitter eneloops in this deal - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/74944

If you do want some, you should order quickly as the non glitter ones came on special first so they could also go back up in price at any moment.
