Google Pixel Buds Pro Charcoal $248 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Harvey Norman

250

Was looking for a pair of Pixel Buds Pro, Harvey Norman has them on sale for $248. ~$2 cheaper than JB Hi-Fi Solutions.
Can potentially get it 5% cheaper at OfficeWorks (if in stock at both OW and HN in the same area).
OW added $7.9 before beating the price for me because it was not in stock at HN around me (paid $243.15).

  • Can this do real translation from foreign language to English? Is that a thing?

it will play whatever you want it to play baby…

    • I think with select devices such as the Pixel 7 (don't quote me on that though)

  • Is it just me? No matter what post code I entered, the click and collect seems to have only one store available and it's out of stock anyway.

I think it's basically online orders only. Not showing up in any stores.

    • I just price beat Officeworks at Taylor's Lakes.

I swapped to these from the Sony WF-1000XM4 and I have been impressed. YMMV but I find these much more comfortable and these seem to form better seal in the ear.

Also if I'm not mistaken Google Store should price match this to avoid giving your dollars to Hardly Normal.

    • I've just bought the WF-1000XM4 and am finding them brutally uncomfortable.
Can you compare the noise cancelling between the two?

      • +4

I had the same experience. I wanted to like the XM4's but they were never comfortable. I followed the tips I could find online such as rolling them with your fingers first before pushing them into your ears which helped a little but never truly comfortable. I tried all the different sizes. I definitely couldn't wear them for long periods. I even tried throwing $20 at some latex ear tips which I saw some good reviews on but I found them worse so swapped back to the foam ones.

I wanted to buy the Pixel Buds Pro since I have a Pixel 7 Pro and just wanted the nice integration and I read up on reddit and watched some YouTube reviews comparing the two and found them all to be mixed between the two.

What I can tell you from my own personal experience is I find the noise cancelling to be better but I should say I believe this is because of the fit in my ears. So I can't definitively say that 'the noise cancelling is better' on the PBP but they are better for me personally.

Sound quality is fairly comparable between the two. I'm certainly no audio expert and usually just set all my earphones and headphones EQ to 'extra bass' and leave it at that. I will say I believe the bass to be stronger on the Sony's but it is more than adequate on the PBP.

Call / Microphone quality is a clear winner on the PBP from those that I have spoken to.

Battery life is better on the Sonys but not really in any sort of situation that impacts me. The PBP never run out during normal usage I'd just say I charge the case maybe 1.5x more.

The case of the PBP is also much more sensible and fits in the pocket a lot nicer. I used the Spigen Tough Armor case for both the Sonys and the PBP.

        • Thanks for the detailed response!
The main unit, rather than the tips seems to be causing most of my discomfort.

I have the same problem with xm4 too so I swap that to Linkbuds S. It has everything from xm4 and is way lighter, the only downside is it can not wireless charge

      • Change the foam tips for silicone tips and thank me later.

Great noise cancelling and sound, but horrible fit and lack of wing make them useless for exercise. I'm returning my set after 3 weeks.

    • +2

At least they cleaned your ears for free

    • +1

What are you planning on trying that does have wing tips? I am still on the galaxy buds + which are slowly dying on me, tried the xm4 and galaxy buds2 but without wings they just don't fit nicely

      • Not sure yet! Buds pro was what I had narrowed to after months! Back to 75t for now

  • +1

    Worst fit.

  • Is the fit similar to the Jabra 75t earbuds? Can anyone compare the comfort of these two?

    • +1

Nope! I have both, and Buds pro is far more less stable during exercise.

  • Brought a pair from JB and fit was horrific!

Returned for full refund a few days later later under not fit for purpose clause.

In terms of functionally and audio quality, they are good however.

  • I love them except for one thing…..basically the right bud never charges past 96-98%, likely a software glitch as not solved by RMA and new pair, and doesn't seem to be corrected permanently by a device or case reset

Love mine, purchased for $300 a few months ago. Very hesitant to spend that much $$ on earphones, as I've been happy with the cheap Chinese wireless ones featured on Ozb over the years. I use every day for work as well as commuting. Noise cancellation is great, making phone calls in noisy areas also works well. No complaints about the fit. Just got back from the gym, never had to adjust them once. They come with 3x different size buds, if you're not getting the correct fit maybe try a bigger/smaller one.
USBC and wireless charging on my dock are is convenient as well.

Google Store is price-matching. Time to deploy the store credit.

    • Do you have a link, or did you chat with the Google Store?

      • +2

I ordered the Buds, waited until they were shipped, chatted with the store, sent them the Harvey Norman link and they price matched straight away. Got the buds today - they are excellent.

        • Did you pay the entire price with Google store credit? I have enough credit to pay the full price, Im just wandering if I will get the refund back as a credit.

          • @preasm14: Yes, I paid 100% with store credit and was refunded with store credit. Plus extra credit from the new sale. Unfortunately there are no Google products left that I'm interested in 🤷‍♂️

    • Do they price beat since they price match?

      • Price match only. But if you have Google One membership then you still get the usual store credit.
