  • OP, What about the app? Is it any good?

    • +1

I don't personally own one but it has 4.6 ⭐ out of 141k reviews that's for the tp-link tapo app

    • +2

The app is pretty good. Easy to use and navigate. I have 4 cameras and 3 smart plugs and it works well.

Notifications are pretty prompt as well.

      • Does the night vision have visible red LEDs?

        • +1

Not that I have noticed. I can't get any of my rooms to darken enough to activate night vision during the day, but I can check for you tonight and post back here if you want.

        • Yes they do and the night vision footage is pretty good.

  • +1

Looking at the reviews, says it will come with a UK plug, which may not be suitable for AU use. So do some research before you buy

    • Yes I just read the customer questions, most probably it comes with UK plug. So adaptor might be needed.

I was looking for something like this last year and after research I decided on the Reolink E1 Pro, works well for me to check on my puppy and the quality is pretty great (1440p). I bought it for $68 but it's now ~$76 with code asau3f53

    • I personally like the features of the camera that I have posted. The only problem it's it might come with UK plug. I didn't spot it before posting.

  • +1

Could be wrong… but isn't it basically the same camera as the c200 (https://www.tp-link.com/en/compare/?typeId=19&productIds=428…), which is available for $58.40 at Amazon AU?

  • +1

So it has motion detection and pan/tilt. But no auto pan/tilt/zoom when motion is detected?

Looking for a front yard/door camera and those features seem useful.

    • +4

I have the C200 Aus models and motion tracking is an option but it appears you can only enable it by signing up for Tapo Care cloud subscription. Which is a pretty crappy move on TP links part.

    • It's an indoor camera you'd have to be careful where you put it outside

I got this same thing delivered from Amazon on 30th Dec for $47. NOT A DEAL
Its a good camera and does the job for me. App is also quite good and notfications are consistent.

  • May I ask if this is good enough for home security use ?? My aunt's house just got broken into last night in Brisbane southside and the whole house was ransacked, this is the 3rd person I know of in recent month whose home got broken into, law and order is out of control in Brisbane !!!

  • +1

This Tapo C210 would be a much better deal

  • I like to let the CCP know what I'm doing at all times, so chose the Xiaomi (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/284427506894) which is down to $66.49 with code PLUSJAN1. Might try this TP-Link one, especially if it works with Alexa.

  • These are pretty decent units but should be able to grab them for around $50 on Amazon if you keep an eye on them (AU version as well).

  • anyone tried the "eko" version? Looks to retail around $45

Edit: Looks like lots of people have had issues with needing to reset them. That would be a PITA.
