Good deal with local AU stock. $199 is near the at time low. Good value HDD for general storage. I actually prefer 5xxx RPM (less energy and heat) to 7200rpm.

Mod Note: Now available on back-order. Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months.

5200 also long life, I have been using these for about 5 years now ( I have Reds 5200rpm )

  • Thanks for the heads up I've had this on the wishlist for yonks didn't think we'd see local stock again.

Thanks, been waiting on one of these. Almost pulled the pin on a Seagate BarraCuda earlier today.

Have a HD with bad sectors and only 58% health. These WD's seem to die slowly and at least give you some time to backup your stuff. The couple of Seagate's I've had have just died out of nowhere.

Same experience for me, every dead drive in my bucket of crap is Seagate. WDs have always been amazing for me.

  • CMR which is good, according to the website:
    https://www.westerndigital.com/en-au/products/internal-drive…

  • These are great CMR drives.

They're now $204, and delivered from US. I guess local stock is now sold out.

    ooor $195 at Umart :/
    - except OOS :(

  • backups people, can never have enough backups!

  • Can someone comment on having this blue drive on a nas? (I would imagine red is still preferred for nas?)

  • I've had one of these for a couple of months now.
They aren't exactly quiet drives if that's something that will bother you.

It's a shame WD discontinued the "Green" drives. I have one I bought about 10 years ago and wouldn't use anything else, nearly silent.

    • What would be a good, quiet alternative to this? I'm looking to upsize from a 2TB wd green.

  • Mine arrived today in bubble wrap and a padded bag. Sigh… Played this game last year with amazon and shipping hdds like this. Returned 2 drives both DoA and then I gave up.

Hopefully this one survived the journey.
