Damn, I already bought the google one for $6 yesterday.

    • return it and save $1!

I saw the apple one too, but I have only ever used android phones and $1 to guarantee compatibility is worth it. I read that the apple one output very low volume on android.

But if I could have gotten it for free well that is an entirely different story.

        • Ah fair enough, if you had an apple phone then I would have swapped it so everything is within the same eco system.

          • @Magicmannn: Apparently being within the ecosystem means very little:

Just a note, this DOES NOT work with Airpod MAX

Which surprises no one, I believe. Also this from a comment right below:

Apple one is (a) flimsy and (b) much quieter than the Google

I believe this comment applies to using the Apple adapter on Google devices.
Is the volume still quiet on Apple devices (say on an USB-C iPad)?

I've bought one of these adaptors for my Pixel from Google, an official Samsung one for my wife's Samsung, and considering this one for my son's iPad, all in the name of compatibility. A small price to pay to prevent them complaining later on that the adaptor doesn't work (or works poorly) and having to go through refund processes or write off the cost completely because its outside the returns or warranty period.

    • The Google one is way better. I have both, and the Apple one is (a) flimsy and (b) much quieter than the Google one for some reason.

      • Google one has higher output impedance, which may change the sound of some of your headphones or earphones. For those who care

        • The Apple one is way lower than standard line-level even at max volume.

  • Did apple change to USB-C ? I must be living under a rock.

I bought this for a new iPad Air, that model and the pro’s have cut over to usb-c.

This dongle can be surprisingly useful for PC users as a cheap basic DAC. I use one so I can plug in my gaming headphones with mic because my tower isn’t in a convenient location in relation to my desk. I use a hub/extender so I can put this dongle closer to where I sit.

  • The last time I tried price matching at JB they didn't allow me y use the perks voucher.

Will the price beat work if i'm in SA or will they add on the delivery?

  • Will this work on my Google Pixel 6 phone?

    • I'm wondering this too. Any differences to the Pixel adaptor?

I have a Pixel 6 Pro and this and it works, but I would recommend the Google one for the reasons set out in my comment above.

      • One JB agent kindly price matched Google version of this cable ;) Sweet deal

Too many people are using the price from Videoguys to price match with JB. Videoguys has now put the price up to $15 :D lol

lol people still use wired devices with mobile devices. You're not going to get better quality with good wired headphones on an ipad or iphone. you better off with getting some bluetooth headphones and then you never need worry about adapters again.

    • My true wireless $300 "pro" earbuds are utter crap in windy conditions or when I ride, or when in public transport or other busy environments. I tend to switch to wired earpods to actually be heard on the other side.

So you can lol now, but appreciate when somebody calls you with their airpods that manage to pick up all the conversations, PSAs, clangs, running taps and any other noise around you.

    • Some airlines don’t allow Bluetooth headphones inflight and require you to run them wired.

  • I thought you can't use a Perks voucher on Apple products?
