    Nice first post!

Not saying these are a shit deal, but for the non-club price you can get a larger and much higher weight rated set from bunnings. The 37kg per shelf is pretty tiny.

At the discount price I'm teetering on the fence at the moment.

I wonder if the 37kg is a typo. I bought what I think is the same 4 MDF shelf unit from SCA 5 yrs ago and it's rated at 150kg per shelf.

      • +15

150kg total, so 37.5kg per shelf. Source - looking at the box right now 😂

        • +1

These seem good to stack wine on!

Unfortunately I don't think they can hold enough weight for it.

@[Deactivated]: But if you do think…
            1.2kg per bottle
Stored horizontal to moisten and preserve the cork.
With a diy or home made rack, fixed to the shelves with fasteners or otherwise.
Let's say 30 bottles for first two shelves. 20 for the next and 10 for the last highest shelf.
Fastened to the wall, staggering the weight, high to low and under rating the capacity.

Safely store almost 99 bottles of wine on the wall.
            99 Bottles of wine.
You take one down and pass it around.
98 bottles of wine on the wall….

      • +1

Yeah right.. assuming you are below 150kg, sit down on the top shelf and let us know how you go.

        • +1

Most cases of wine 12 bottles, would be 15kgs. You can fit 3-4 cases a shelf, so no it wouldn't hold the weight.

          It says 37.5kgs a shelf.

    • Which one in Bunnings?

  • +1

What about this one for $10.49? I too am after a shelf but know little. Can any one tell what's the main difference, except dimensions and load rating? Thanks

    • Galvanised as opposed to powder coated

      • And holds less weight

    • These one's have sharp edges and in pretty chuddy in general

    • +4

These ones are more flimsy, and use nuts and bolts to assemble. The shelves will withstand damp areas though being galvanised steel.

The powder coated ones don't require tools to assemble/adjust a shelf - although it's made easier with a mallet.
Surface area of the shelves is MDF though so not good for damp.

    • I've just made both the galvanised and the toolless shelves. Galvanised took 30 mins to mess around with the bolts. Toolless took 10 mins.

I ordered one and am going to use it as two shorter shelves.

Found this https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:728730 (3d printable feet) in case anyone else is going to do the same.

Powder Coated workbench also half price around $55

Looked like a great deal but then I found a better deal if you have the space.

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/montgomery-1830-x-910-x-410mm-5-…
    $54.36 each
    5 Shelves
    150KG PER SHELF
    750KG PER SYSTEM

A bit larger but holds a lot more weight or so it says.

    • Can you put stuff on the top?

      • +1

Sure can. It's the same as all the other shelves.

    • A 30cm ruler deep for those who need to visualise. Not very large.

      • +5

150cm ruler high and 80cm ruler wide for those who also need to visualise the other dimensions.

        • +1

I visualised 5 X 30cm rulers to visualise your 150cm ruler lol struggling to visualise something that's 80cm though

        • +1

DW I just visualised the shelf to visualise 80cm

  • Got some of the Montgomery ones from Bunnings..good for general stuff. But needed some custom sizes and went with the Rack It range from Bunnings. A different price range but supposedly really good

    • did you have an odd space you were trying to put the shelf and hence the 'custom size'?

  • Nice, just got $109 in my Supercheap account as something I just purchased went on special, spending that right now

  • anyone have any experience with these? https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/sca-sca-workbench-powder…

they look a bit flimsy and dont look like they can take a beating when smacking parts with a hammer.

  • How this compare to Bunnings Pinnacle range?
