Their slower write speed ones heat up pretty bad.. Wonder if this one glows red when filling it up.

    • I assumed they used the metal body as a heatsink for better transfer rates, but either they do and it's a trash radiator, and/or their using worse controllers because some of the plasticy ones have wildly more reliable and often faster transfer speeds…

    • Have 64/128/256 and never noticed it heats up. Do you do a lot of read/write to it?

      • How lol, it definitely heats up as soon as you use it.

I have a 128 and its uncomfortably hot to the touch after transferring anything longer than say 2-3mins.

If I don't do anything and just leave it plugged in, when I remember to remove it, it's quite warm.

        • Are you talking about this USB drive or another Samsung product?

I have several of these, they are excellent. Very good 4k write speed for a USB stick as well

        • Idk. I have 3 of each type and no issues. Might be a lemon?

    • Agree could fry an egg on one. They were crap

Nah fam. I literally picked up a 250GB Toshiba SSD XC10 before for like $20: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/734388 and it is quite small. Not the best deal or even remotely good tbh.

I like them because they look like whistles.

  • Good keys. Very durable. I must don't transfer large files anymore

    • I've had an older 128GB one for a few years. It's been rock solid. I don't use it as much as I used to.

  • Thanks OP. However i don't buy Samsung BAR Plus flash drives any more. The last ones i bought all ended up completely failing within a year. I suspect that these overheat and end up frying the chips over time.

  • I had one for a few years, albeit smaller capacity, it worked fine no issues except that it's a bit too tight when inserting into some USB sockets.

    • I think that those USB ports had some big issues.

  • Price is now 37.95, and buy 2 save 5%

  • I should point out that this write speed is around 60MB/sec instead of 200MB/sec as mentioned by OP.
