  • Looks like a good deal.

I bought this for $99 years ago and it's still in the box

Want to sell for 150$? ;)

      True ozbargainer there

I've read about these being collectors items.
If only I'd got in on the ground floor of the boom

    • +2

still looks like a box after unboxing

      • +2

That's why you need all the tools, needed for putting it all together

    • I'll buy it if you're in brisbane.

  • It's good for a starter kit or if you don't have much space.

Cheeseburger and deep set sockets are more handy than you might think

    • +2

Cheeseburger??? Tried googling a reference to tools, get nothing.

      • +2

The Hamburglar's stealth entry tool of choice

      • that's a shame, someone at google needs to fix that.

        imperial sizes

  • +1

    Discussed here a bit

Unless you need all these tools and have plenty of space to store this cabinet, I'd suggest buying a smaller kits of toolpro tools that you actually need and will use. Much better quality and you'll save heaps of space.

    • +1

Got a link to the one you're referring to please?

I did a major service on my car with a Tool Pro X 3/8 set, one spanner, two screwdrivers, and a T70 bit (I decided to pay for a Toledo kit, rather thsn a single bit) to change front and rear diff fluid. Thanks Subaru! Why is the AT filter behind the battery? And a big FU to the sparkpugs! Also nned jack stands, oil filter wrench, and large pan.

Stuff you dont need but would make life much easier/better:
      * a bigger jack (there's a Tool Pro one on sale)
      * Impact wrench
      * deep impact socket set
      * longer breaker bar
      * gloves
      * JBL Charge 5 to blast 100 gecs to annoy my idiot neighbour who I have been feuding with since the beginning of time

Tool Pro was already good, Tool Pro X is significantly better, and I already own heaps of Sidchrome and Kincrome socket sets and all sorts of different spanners.I bought the Tool Pro X set because i think it looks cool and has deep SAE and metric sockets.

      edit: also lifetime warranty

      • @rosebank
"JBL Charge 5 to blast 100 gecs"
I'm thinking, what does that mean. Is it slang for decibels or percent. Nope.
        Oh wow
        .

        • +2

          Hyperpop isn't for everyone

          • @rosebank: Edit: 1000 gecs and The Tree of Clues is more "accessible", and the ringtone remix with Charlie XCX is a banger

        • Its like island boys 2.0

      • Curious, what happened to fuel the fire with your neighbour.

I'll try to keep it short but I hate all my neighbours, except one. The one on the north used my skip for his trash, including mail with his name and address on it, when I confronted him he said that's not me, my name is Michael. But we eventually dragged all his shit, including a massive tv box and his kids drawings back to his place. I said to him, look man we're gonna be neighbours and seeing each other all the time, this shit isn't cool and a 7m skip isn't cheap. I think his wife told him off and he came to apologise later. When I see him at the park, I still call him Michael becuase (profanity) him.

Neighbour on the south (profanity) up the retaining wall but whatever, shit happens, as long as you fix it. But then water started pouring into my yard several times and I had to repeatedly ask him to fix that shit. It hasn't happened for a while so I guess it's finally fixed.

Neighbour on the west is fine, but the builder that built the house was a complete f-wit. he (profanity) up so much shit on my side and refused to fix it. I said to him, bro, you have a whole crew here and all the tools, it'd take you maybe a couple hours to fix your shit and then we'll be cool, otherwise you'll be talking to my cousin next time who is a lawyer. So my cousin filed all the paperwork for the magistrates court, the loser builder had to hire a lawyer. We went back and forth for months until my cousin and I were like, (profanity) it, we've had enougfh fun, let's just settle. I think the builder wasted at least 10-15k on his lawyer and the setllement over some stupid shit he could've fixed in a few hours, but he's a stupid (profanity). The people who moved in are fine. I've had to fix the fence a few times because new houses are like foam or soft plaster with rendering and it's hard because you cant use normal masonary fasteners, so you have to macguyver shit using plugs for gyprock and other weird shit. One day I saw the 2 boys trying to fix the fence at the front with like a hammer and screwdriver, I felt sorry for them, so I brought over my tools and fixed it properly. The dad then came over and gave me a bottle of wine (worth $120), and on xmas they gave me a box of grade A cherries, and Im like, (profanity), I dont want to be your friends, can we not?

Neighbour on the east is a complete knob. We hate each other. I don't have time to write about our 10+ year fued.

          • +1

@rosebank: Holy shit you haven't had much luck with neighbours. I'm moving home in about 2 months and my biggest concern is (profanity) neighbours. The house I can fix but can't choose neighbours.

My current neighbours are building a fence at the moment and the dkhead builder put the excavator bucket into the side of my shed and knocked over all the shelving inside thinking I wouldn't notice. I Kickout the dint and not going to worry. I Don't own this house (sold it) now so whatever.

            • +1

@mckayver: I have the Fences Act 1975 almost memorised, because I had to deal with my mums house twice. One time, her neighbour thought mum was encroaching on their property so we got a surveyor to check it out. Turns out the neighbour was encroaching on my mum's property by about 20-30cm lol. And I've had to deal with it 3 times on my house for new fences. The worst was the neighhbour on the east, and I thought the builder on the west was bad.

I got this like 8 years ago the bottom box warped due to too much in top box , i fixed it and used it as under bench storage and got a roller box at aldi and use that with the top box now still going great

    • If only Aldi would get their ass up here!

  • +2

Anyone who would want to buy a full tool set like this should instead buy something better quality. There are budget conscious kits that are decent quality - this isn't one of them.

    • 8 x 1/4 Drive Metric Sockets

      Comes with 8!

      Single use!

    • Is there anything you recommend?

      • +1

Watch out for some good deals for Gearwrench on Amazon.

        • +1

Agree on Gearwrench. ToolPro is cheaper but still decent, AuzGrip is in between and also good value.

    • It's perfect for light work, I use it instead of my quality tools which have been in the family forever, Stahlwille stuff I bought my dad in 1980 mostly, but this is truly worth the price so long as you are handy and can re-enforce the thing when it warps when you overload it.

  • +1

Bought this from an Ozbargain post about 5 years ago for $99.

The tools are absolute garbage. Mainly use it for storage

  • Looks great but I think this is an overkill for myself. I’m no mechanic

  • -1

I swear I only use a few socket sizes 8, 10, 14mm. Half tempted to throw out all the ones I don’t use.

    • Can't remember last time I ever used an imperial socket….

Not counting a 1/4 or 3/8 impact driver head….., Just regular every day sockets

      • +1

I have, but only twice: taking down old barn doors, and some random bolts in the kitchen. you never know when you'll need one

      • I used one of the huge ones in my set once as a drift to pop out some bearings. The metric sizes didn't quite fit but an imperial one fit just right.

        • I stand corrected. Imperial socket bearing press for the win.
And for those of us that drive old barn doors on a Sunday

          • @Spending2Much: Hahaha. Yeah I haven’t even bothered with imperial sockets with the exception of a 5/16 deep socket which I’ve used once to change spark plugs. I ended up just buying the single socket when I needed it.

      • Yeah, well I have a airless tyre china made trolley from supercheap that I oiled the bearings and tightened the wheel nuts and bolts yesterday, they are imperial FFS, this cheap ass kit did me good! as all my quality tools are metric.

The tools are actually great for diy .. it's not trade quality but what do you expect at this price… baught ago for like 100… has been very useful

Not sure it's a good buy at 250

  • I wouldn't buy this, the tool chest and drawers feel cheap and the tools are not good. I had a big Stanley set with most of the stuff listed in this post.and it was pretty good, but upgraded everything to Kincrome and Sidchrome.I saw a Tool Pro X 3/8' set on sale a few months ago for $99 and it looked like a good all-rounder set so I bought it.

I own or have used all the "top" brands like Gearwrench, Wera, Tekton, Bahco, TTI, Teng Tools, Knipex, NWS etc, and while Tool Pro is not better than any of those, they are better than everyone else, and most of their tools have lifetime warranty, like Kincrome. I've had Kinchrome stuff repaired or replaced and the process is basically take it this place, the rep comes every week, he'll take it and you'll either have it repaired, or you get a new one, just remember to scan the receipt, or check your emails for the invoice. If Tool Pro can hang with Kinchrome with the simple and local lifetime warranty, I'll be buying a lot of Tool Pro X in the future

Currently, Tool Pro sockets and spanners are fine but could be better (like Tool Pro X). But their hand tools need tio improve and have better QC. I hope this will happen when they expand more of the X range. When I did a search earlier today, there were only ~6 results.

Having owned one i will comment

    The tools are junk

    The cabinet is very average

The draws open make 15 to 20cm making them useless.

I was more than happy to get rid of mind and buy a quality tool box and tools

  • I have the tools I need but is it worth it just to pay for the tool cabinet?

Plus the tools will be an upgrade because what i've got is some random tools from different brands

    • No

    • no its a crap cabinet

      • It's a crapinet

    • Forget the detractors, I have this and it is used in my shed, it is fine, oil the ball bearing on the draw slider every few months and don't abuse it.

Mine came short 2 sets of nuts and bolts for the castors, but 3 on 2 of em was fine.

I bought one of these a few years ago, for the price it's great. DIY use, nothing has broken including hinges and draws.

I would class it as a step or two above el cheapo ozito gear. No way is it a 'single use', but if you need a premium finish and feel best to look elsewhere.
