    Personally I have always found scanning the gift card barcodes on the phone very difficult at Kmart for some reason. Even entering the codes in manually there are extra hurdles compared to say Woolies. Maybe it's easier if they're printed out I don't know.

      I’ve found that a lot of Kmart stores still use product scanners at self checkouts that cannot read barcodes from a phone screen, so I would avoid trying to use the product scanners… at least until Kmart gets around to upgrading self checkouts.

      I find that if I store the Kmart gift card on Stocard and then use the barcode scanning gun to scan the gift card’s barcode from Stocard, that works quite well. You may need to play around for a couple of seconds to find the sweet spot for the scanning gun though. If you use another app to store digital copies of gift cards (e.g. Google Wallet), that should work fine too.

        I've never had an issue scanning the gift card barcode as long as I do it with the scan gun. Biggest issue I have is when the system craps itself whilst trying to use a gift card, it then adds it as an unknown item and even the staff have trouble sorting it out. They usually cancel the sale and ask to start again on another unit. Their POS units are really POS 😜

          Yes this always happens to me as well. I think it has great problems trying to process a second card if the first doesn't have enough.

      The handheld scanner will always work. The built in scanners almost never will.

      The few times I've used these, I've found printing means it scans easily enough.

      But overall the Kmart POS and the way it handles these gift cards is pretty bad. You'd think they could just look at how Coles etc do it and copy the approach. Eg. If I'm paying the full amount by gift card, why isn't there a button for that? I've had to key the dollar amount each time. The most annoying to me is the way it handles the PIN. There's nothing on the main screen prompting you to enter the PIN. The main screen just looks like it's crashed, and if you don't realise the EFTPOS terminal is waiting for you to enter the PIN, it eventually times out and takes you back to the previous step.

                    Upon checking with the relevant team, we are working really hard with "KMart" regarding this error due to a technical glitch with our partner’s systems.
