    • Was concerned about support since they didn't reply to my emails.

Me too. Their facebook page definitely does not inspire confidence unfortunately.

      • +1

I rang MB dealers and they had NFI told me to ring spare parts. Spare parts just as bad called it "promotional material". Not going to spend several thousand dollars if there is zero aftersales support.

Thankfully that Glowwormbicycles are an official dealer / support retailer. They said getting spare parts is very slow as well as MB support but they respond. So they will do support if required.

Pisses me off because these ebikes are a great product. Exactly what i been looking for in a ebike for ages. Was going to write to MB HQ about, really hope they take their Ebikes more seriously.

        • How did you find an official dealer? Looking for one in Melbourne

        • Thanks for the info. How did you find out that GlowWormBicycles was a dealer?
One in Bris would be handy

          • @theguyrules: https://nplusbikes.com.au/pages/mercedes-amg-stockists

Glow worm was listed, as a stockist. I called several MB dealerships and they were useless.

If it wasnt for Glow worm actually picking up the phone I wouldn't of bought the Mercedes Ebike.

            • @Bid Sniper: Oh ha, the only one in Brisbane is the massive fancy Merc dealership which I'm sure will laugh at me if I bring my bike there.

              • @theguyrules: Probably, rang the two biggest ones in Sydney and there were unaware they were listed as stockist. Told me ring spare parts, spares parts werent helpful.

Good product, bad service. Certainly doesnt sell MB cars if their service is so bad. At least for those in NSW, use Glowworm to sidestep the issue.

        • +1

          Nice work finding Glow Worm!

If anyone is in Adelaide, looks like there is a non-MB dealership there too for support:

          https://willride.com/

Source: https://nplusbikes.com.au/pages/service-centre-directory (Will Ride is currently the only store in Australia listed on that map!)

          • @enthusiast: I rang Will Ride asking if they had any of the listed E Bikes in for service (I wanted to get an idea of sizing). Will Ride no longer support Mercedes E Bikes. Has anyone in Adelaide received a small size Mercedes bike, that I could look at please.

        • +1

Be aware these are n+ bikes that are “Manufactured under licence from Mercedes-Benz Formula E Limited.” I think Mercedes have linked their name to a great product, but at the end of the day the bike is made and distributed by n+.

Not really related, but I know a lot of people that have been waiting over 12 months for their car (various brands) to be delivered.

Hopefully n+ will sort out all the orders and get bikes to everyone ASAP. Usually I am the one stressing, or missing out, not sure how I got lucky and had mine delivered already. (I did purchase early)

          • +1

@deal88: Sent a email today, just got a email back from my initial email in December lol

oh this is going to drag on I suspect

            • @Bid Sniper: Considering my bike is on a container ship from Germany, yeah it might take a while.
I'm half tempted to ask for a refund and walk and get an ebike from elsewhere as I feel support will be a nightmare if needed.

              • +2

@theguyrules: Support is trash but sadly the bike is good. I looked at heaps of ebikes and theyre not as good as this one.

Think 6 weeks wait for us

                • @Bid Sniper: I think the 50% saving would be worth the wait, IF you are guaranteed a bike in the end. I would not want to wait and end up with no bike.

The parts are solid and pretty standard so I would assume minimal issues. Possibly the biggest concern is the batteries, but I have not read anywhere about people having issues so I am assuming they will be OK. Worst case you may need to get a third party to replace some battery cells, but most ebikes use off the shelf cells anyway.

With all that said, you just don’t know how any company will support you if you have an issue.

I think in the end it really comes down to what type of bike you want. I had been looking at this one for a while. Deciding factor was it does not look like an e-bike and great components for the discounted price. But there are e-bikes that are cheaper, some with more power, some easier to override the max speed, some better for mountain bike riding…..

                  • @deal88:

I think in the end it really comes down to what type of bike you want.
Daily commuter, belt drive, internal gearing.

Here it beats the specs, plus it looks good and has a CVT transmission. I really want this bike, I will wait because all the other ebikes have major issues and Frankenstein builds. Friend sent me the new Porsche e-bike, expensive, old gearing, meh design.

If anyone is looking for a bike pump, this is the one I got - $39 club price @ 99bikes - JetBlack Little Fella Floor Pump 120psi

    • I suggest spending slightly more on an electric pump. I used to commute 45km daily and found the quickest way to repair punctures was with a battery powered pump - and Park Tools GP-2C pre-glued super patches. Xiaomi 1S is great, but a less price-sensitive Benz owner may prefer a Fumpa

    • @me4president great pump for a good price.

  • Was tempted by the dual motor model but the lack of a Melbourne presence given all the issues people have commented about on YouTube have changed my mind.

    • should be too hard for any bike stores to service it no?

      • Service yes, fix probably not as sounds like spare parts availability will be the catch

      • Broken hubs and things would need warranty support - more hassle than it's worth imo

    • I've been told the wheel motors are not kind to the spokes on the rims. I assume it adds more tension to the spokes

      • I'm happy to be corrected, but irrespective of whether it's a mid or hub mounted motor, won't the torque to the tyres still need to be transmitted through the spokes and rims?

  • Can you get U lock though the frame and the back wheel?
I'm looking to get the ABUS Granit XPlus 540 for it.

    • +2

Hi @Quickshot I just googled the size of the ABUS, looks to be 108 x 230 internal. I have a different brand lock the same size, so tested it for you.

You can get the lock length ways through the back wheel and seat upright. The width between the wheel and upright is about 170mm. I don’t think you will also be able to go around a pole.

Other thing I tried was down the hard tail angle. The could fit around the frame and wheel. Should be enough to go around a pole.

    • I've always used Abus Granit and was looking for one for this bike too, and then I saw the Hiplock for half price here!
It's the Paul Smith branded version, but is still rated at the same security level as the higher-end Abus options.
      I bought two ;)

      • Are you going to attach it to the bike? If so, how?

        • For now it will go in a pannier bag, but I am thinking of making a 3D printed bracket because even if the Hiplok version was available locally, it isn't much use on this bike when there are no mounting points on the frame.

  • Just got this "order update". Damn the support team isn't even trying.

We're experiencing higher volumes than usual for dispatching bikes from our distribution center in Western Australia. Based on your order queue position, we estimate that a courier will be picking up your bike for delivery in the next 2 weeks, and tracking details will be forwarded to you for the delivery.

This is almost an exact copy of the update I got 2 weeks ago, except 2 weeks ago they said 1-2 weeks.

    • I think they got OzBargained.

      • They did the same 50% off deal on their US site, so it sounds like they're just clearing everything out and closing up shop.
I am curious as to how that will go with our warranties/14 day change of mind.

Definitely a rough start for me.

        • Maybe an optimist on this but worst case scenario is a charge back. End up with a free ebike with some minorish fault.

        • I assumed they are just clearing out all of their 2022 stock. There is a bit of a bicycle glut at the moment and even some Giants are discounted to 50%.

With that said, I never saw the black Merc team bike with more than 25% off on their normal website or their Facebook links. I think the 50% off link would have resulted in a large increase in orders they are working through. I hope this is the case.

I would be surprised if they shut up shop, but if anyone hears anything or has their orders cancelled, please let us know.

    • Did you ask for that update? I haven't heard anything at all. But am happy to wait.

      • I did yeah, I replied to my last update from Tuesday the 24th Jan, and asked

The latest update that I got says that the bike was on its way from Germany to Australia. This goes against what you said about dispatching my bike from Western Australia.
How come it's coming from Germany? How long will it take to get from Germany to me? Is it coming via Perth?

Maybe I am being an annoying customer, I don't care. I spent $2.5k and haven't seen any tracking or proof of it actually coming yet.

    • +3

I am really sorry for your bad experience with their support team. I did order my Formula E bike on the 23rd of January and received yesterday in the Sydney region. There was a bit of delay for the delivery and the support team contacted me directly without I even had to ask for an order update.
The updates were just a bit more detailed than what I could get from the tracking order website though but it was nice to talk to a support team member.

The bike is really good looking and is really pleasant to use so far. I needed a bit of time to get used to the Enviolo system and the electric motor. Also I find it very heavy, I hope I will never run out of battery before a hill^^

The bike doesn't come with any instruction, you have to check all the user and assembly guides here.

      • +1

Glad to hear you like it.

        • +1

I hope you'll get yours soon!

  • +1

I ordered the evening of 24th. Got my first e-mail update on 2 Feb that tracking details will follow. Tracking details received on 3 Feb and bike delivered yesterday, 6 Feb.

Took +-45 mins to assemble. Have only been able to do a quick around the block trip and very happy thus far.

Hope it works out for the rest of you guys!

  • Anyone received the silver arrow sport or championship edition yet? Is the speed limited? Are you planning a hack or request for speed limit to be removed?

  • We are waiting currently on our next container of bikes to arrive in Australia. We are forecasting that you will have your bike by the end of the month.

I apologise for the dealy but we are going to push your bike out to you as soon as it lands in our distribution centre.

Finally what feels like some honesty from them. Extremely annoyed at the wait though, and their made up queue.

  • Does anyone know if the battery can be removed to be charged?
I would like to charge the battery at the office

  • +2

Ok, so you want to remove the battery on the black bike so you can take the battery inside to charge it? Or possibly remove the battery and seat to reduce the chance of theft?*

Are you concerned about the cable dropping down the seat tube into the dark abyss? This may leave you pedalling home with no assist which would be unbearable and people will laugh at you.

After 17 years and over $1 million in development with NASA and the CSIRO there is a solution. I am off to the patent office tomorrow, but assume no one will read this late night post until then.

    A sneak peek…

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/53368/101568/58791a2a-…

This high-tech engineered solution can be pre ordered for $1,200 but I have an 88% off deal for OzB. Can be payable in iTunes cards or to my Western Union account.

    FAQ….
Q: Is this just a name tag lanyard you got from a trade show?
A: Of course not, this a secret patent pending design.

Q: Is that just a standard spring clip key ring on the end?
A: It may look normal, but it is stealth technology made from nickel plated carbon fibre reinforced titanium.

Q: What other features does it have?
A: We will be releasing version 7 to the market with a strap long enough to wrap around the top of the seat tube. This works with our in-house anti-slip grip gravity defying technology that keeps the strap below the seat quick release lever.

    • I am not sure how durable the cable and connector would be if removing battery everyday.
    • +1

Due to the high demand, we will also be releasing these limited edition versions for only $100 extra.

Here is a photo for reference only, but don’t buy these ones as they could have an electro magnetic interference with your electric bike. Order directly from me as our are the only ones with an EMI, EMC and HSP free guarantee.

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/115022051305?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

To ensure long life and our industry leading 7 month pro-rata warranty, these are printed using the white phlegm of the giant Tunisian sea wombat. There is an extra 6 months wait time for these versions, but may be quicker if we can get the sea wombats to sit still.

      • +1

I forgot to mention, the prices above are exGST, so don’t forget to add that and the $27 express shipping cost. (express from the time we get the stock. Note the 6 months wait time, mentioned above)

Extra 3% discount for any orders of 700 units or more.

        • +1

          wow just a plain lanyard
How finnicky is it to put back the seat post?

          • +1

@mmd: It is not too hard to put the seat back, but you need to ensure the cable is twisted correctly so it springs down. Otherwise it may bunch up and you will not be able to push the seat fully down.

  • Has anyone got a Medium sized 2022 Formula E Team eBike (the black one) and can tell if it will suit me with a 0.79m inseam?
    I ordered a Medium based on the fact that their website says;

    """""""""""
    Medium
    For riders from 1.76m / 5ft 8" to 1.85m / 6ft 1"
    """""""""""

    I double checked with support by giving them my inseam height and this is the reply;

    """""""""""""""""
I'll be 100% honest this bike is going to be too big for you, the minimum height is 80cm for the small bike.
Would you like me to start the cancellation process?
    """""""""""""""""

This almost sounds like they don't want to sell me a bike…..

    • Do you have short legs because that inseam measurement seems short even for someone at the minimum 176cm for a medium?
Do you have an exisiting bike? If so, measure your seat height from centre bottom bracket to top of seat, along the seat tube. Hopefully someone with a medium and see what the lowest seat height is.

      • I wish they'd actually put the bike measurements on their site.

    • I emailed them my measurements and asked, and they didn't reply

That said, my inseam I measured at 83cm and I ordered a large… so this is concerning.

    • +1

      You guys had me worried
I'm 176cm and my inseam is 81cm pretty much perfectly in between sizes. I ordered a medium.

I got a different reply when I emailed them on Monday.

      You can use this chart to confirm sizing using your inseam measurement – the bikes run quite tall due to the battery in the seat post so best to use this measurement to be sure;
      SMALL > 76cm/ 30”
      MED > 81cm / 32”
      LARGE > 86cm / 34”

      • Ah okay. I was going to change to SMALL but might stick with MED

        175 / (82 with shoes on)

        • Also - you likely wouldn't be able to change easily.

      • Awesome looks like my large is gonna be too tall.

  • Did anyone get a large bike (the black one)

  • +2

Still waiting for an update on tracking details. It’s been 2 weeks

  • +2

Summary so far, for those waiting:

23/1 @ 1:20pm AEST Ordered large E-team bike. Paid in full
24/1 @ 9pm "we estimate a courier will be picking up your bike for delivery in the next 2 weeks or end of the month, and tracking details will be forwarded to you for the delivery."
6/2 @ 11pm "we estimate that a courier will be picking up your bike for delivery in the next 2 weeks, and tracking details will be forwarded to you for the delivery"
7/2 @ 11pm "We are waiting currently on our next container of bikes to arrive in Australia. We are forecasting that you will have your bike by the end of the month."

    • I don’t think even month end is reality and these guys are just buying time

      • Unfortunately you could be right, there's nothing to go on at the moment. How long is the cutoff for chargeback?

        • +1

There will be good enough reasons for refund as they would not have fulfilled the sale.

They have been advertising immediate delivery and next communication has been promising deliveries in a couple of weeks…

  • Has anyone noticed that the reserve payment made via SplitIt being removed?

  • +2

I think they’re all getting delivered soon as I got an Aus post delivery email message saying my delivery will be sent

From APG eCommerce Solutions c/o CT Freight

I think this is it boys

    • Hell yes! What size?

    • I see it in my Auspost app too.

Interestingly, I also purchased another eBike at the same time from Ignite Bikes in Melbourne. Their shop page was the same as the one for N+, and the courier was the same as this one. Seems like the same company…

    • Thats great news! Has your order on the website been updated?

I'm still waiting, sent a email today after payment 2 weeks ago.

  • +4

    Dear theguyrules,

    The wait is nearly over!

Your Mercedes-EQ Team eBike is set for delivery at the end of February.

We will be providing your delivery tracking information shortly. Welcome to the owners club!

So still almost 2 weeks away?

    • Got same email, im ok with 2 weeks as long we're informed.

  • Any more updates of people receiving the bike or tracking?

    • +1

      Not here.

      • +2

I literally just received a notice from Australia Post saying my parcel has been collected and will be delivered between 28 February and 3 March (in WA).

No official notification it is the bike but I'm 99% sure it is.

        • i thought this was the case but received the parcel today and it turns out to be from amazon international… sigh

        • when did you place order? i am yet to receive any update :(. placed order on 1st of Feb

  • +1

Has anyone been able to unlock the bike to US speed?

    • Not yet, but here's what I got from support:

Instructions on how to access Sport, Sport+ and Track mode:

      1. Press M to power your bike on

      2. Press and hold UP and DOWN buttons at the same time for 3 seconds, until a “29in” screen displays

      3. Press and hold DOWN and M for 3 seconds, until you see 0-0-0-0 displayed on the screen

      4. You are now ready to enter passcode (8888). Press UP to toggle through the numbers, and M to toggle to the next digit. (8,M,8,M,8,M,8,M)

      5. After entering this code, use the UP button to toggle up to PAS 5

      6. Press and hold MODE until you see PAS 1 on display.

      7. To disable level 3, 4 and 5 simply do these steps again however at step 5 lower the level to PAS 2.

      • Can you clarify what Level 3 4 and 5 means, PAS 1 to 5 means? I'd just like to toggle on the 32kph speed limit, do you know what do I need to do?

Edit: I have found info on this here https://nplusbikes.com/pages/championship-edition-indemnity-…
I imagine they would apply to the E-Team one too, only the max available setting would be 3 (32 kph), i.e. Sport mode.
I will give it a go tonight and let everyone know how I go.

        • Ok so I have tried all the steps, I'm stuck at point 2. When I turn in the bike by pressing M, as usual it prompts me to input my passcode. If I press UP and DOWN before entering the passcode nothing happens. If I press UP and DOWN after entering the passcode, it goes in the usual menu where you can select metric it imperial. No "29in" displayed.

Anyone had any luck in trying this method?

          • @liongalahad: wonder if this cause the malfunction?

            • @mmd: Nah, I find it near impossible that pressing some buttons that did nothing , can cause a sensor to go nuts. I think my bike is just flawed.

        • These settings are for the championship bike only. There is no such option like sports mode on the formula E-Team bike

          • @SgTrS: Yeah pretty sure you're right about that

          • @SgTrS: Hmmm there should be a way to change to US max speed?

            • @mmd: I asked support some time ago, that said they'd get back to me on this but they never actually did. Well I have more urgent issues at the moment to fix (see my other post further down the comments) but I'll ask again once I finish my other issue

    • I’m also waiting for some help here

  • +1
