    I can't imagine a PS5 hitting 120fps @ 2000 x 2040 per eye except in the most basic titles. Doesn't it struggle with 4k 60fps as it is?

    • +5

Foveated rendering is the key for PSVR2

      • Interesting, had not heard of it.

  • Thanks OP! Worked out much better value this way, especially with discount gift cards. The game itself on the digital store is otherwise $110 (what a joke).

  • +13

I'll buy this in six years when it's $200 and then never touch it like I did with PSVR1.

  • -3

A pass for me… unless they release FFVR :P. I'm a Final Fantasy junkie. :D Grand Turismo could be fun though.

  • Thanks OP. Pre-ordered!

    • How do you change it to delivery? It wont let me

  • +1

Damn. Can only do 2 gift cards at checkout. Now I have a bloody $50 one with nothing to spend it on.

    • +1

This happened to me like 18 months ago when buying a TV. I got stuck with a $200 gift card that I only just found a reason to use. So dumb how it only allows 2 cards, especially considering that the goodguys website allows you to purchase 3 gift cards from them in one transaction.

      • Yeah my fear is more so that they cancel the order altogether then I’m stuck with a tonne…

        • Did your order get cancelled? Mine has been cancelled.. Pretty crappy. Still no refund yet but.

  • +29

Keeping this one hidden in the comments so it works for more people in case they shut it down, the code works on digital Playstation Gift Cards to get 15% off :)

Sony PlayStation Gift Card up $15 (ESD)
Sony PlayStation Gift Card up $30 (ESD)
Sony PlayStation Gift Card Up $100 (ESD)

Xbox Gift Cards for 15% off too:

Xbox LIVE $100 2019 (Digital Download)

    • +1

cheers this worked waiting on email for code

    • Can we use tgg gc to pay?

      • nah gcs dont work for digital purchases, same with cashrewards it tracks and makes it 20% off but it will be declined in the end

    • Legend. Thank you. Codes emailed within 5 minutes.

    • It's charging me $8 for delivery despite it being via email. And it says there's no stores within 500km that have the item for pickup. How do I avoid the $8 fee?

      • +1

Mine said 5 until i put my address in and it changed it to 0 i always used paypal to pay but it says i gotta wait 1 to 2 days for the code

    • Thanks, got a $100 card for $85.

I also tried to use TGG StoreCash but can’t be used on digital purchases.

    • My guy, you're a legend! Thank you so much!

    • Seems the discount isn't working for me, guess they plugged that. That will teach me for going to bed early.

  • Not able to pre-order the Horizon bundle?

Shows preorder button with no price and gives an error

  • Cheers OP!

Just the PSVR 2 by itself is available for $756.15 as well.

Also Cash Rewards 6% cashback (ends 6am AEDT 24/01).

    Special Terms:

Important: Gift cards can be used as payment with The Good Guys, however their value is excluded from cashback calculations. Only the portion that's paid without gift cards is eligible for cashback.

Cashback is ineligible on Apple, ASKO, Miele, AEG, Neff, Bertazzoni, FFalcon, La Germania, Loewe, Playstation 5, Playstation 5 Digital Edition, Xbox Series X 1TB, gift card purchases, negotiated deals (phone/email/chat), purchases via The Good Guys Commercial website, home services, concierge, delivery, GST.

Does state cashback is ineligible on consoles but nothing about accessories which I think the PSVR2 is classified as?

    • +2

I think it's ok for cashback. Excludes ps5 but by the way it's written it's evident to me that they mean the ps5 console is excluded. Certainly I'd argue the point

      • I did receive a $48 cashback tracking email but yeah I guess we'll just have to hope for the best haha.

On another note I didn't use 3% off GCs since it states no cashback on GCs used so would be sucky if it gets denied. Having said that there's a chance of GGs cancelling these orders as well so probably for the best.

  • Will good guys honour it?

    • If they don’t I’ll be pissed, as I ordered one, but forgot Cashrewards so ordered a second. So I’ll have a tonne of gift cards if they cancel…

  • +5

Man went back and forth on this as with cashrewards cashback it effectively makes it $179 cheaper than the RRP of $879 but then I thought about how much time my Quest 2 has spent collecting dust as impressive as that headset is. I have a feeling the same will happen with the PSVR2 so just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. Plus I'm in between jobs with three kids and spousal approval is at an time low

    • +2

I figured that this could be a good way to play normal PS games when the TV is occupied.

    • I'm with you mate, good deal compared to RRP but if I bought this, once the novelty wears off I can see it being an expensive dust collector for me.

    • I love playing on the PS5 but I have a feeling that this will just collect dust after a while.

    • Same… and my pile of shame has never been too big. Lots of ps5 plus extra games before it expires, pc games on game pass, triangle strategy on switch. man i'm screwed -_-

  • Good deal, are these suitable for kids under 12? I know the previous version wasn't

    • +3

Vr isn't great for kids due to spatial development not being complete. Also, youre not supposed to drive for half an hour after vr due to temporary effects

I'm going to get negged because people don't like inconvenient truths. Whatever.

      • youre not supposed to drive for half an hour after vr due to temporary effects

        WTF, are you serious?

        • Yes. Possibly to do with your brain disconnecting visual and motion (inner ear) cues.. And simple things like in vr even distant objects are seen by focusing your eyes at close range rather than far away like they are supposed to. Either way, you can imagine brain signals get mucked up and reaction times drop. Which probably feels like it's not an issue until you really need quick reaction times to avoid an accident. The longer you are in vr, or doing crazier vr, the worse i would think.

I love vr but my kids will have to live without it (I don't know at what age I'll ease up on that.. They're still young enough that it won't be for many years)

      • +1

I can concur. VR usage as an adult def takes some training of the brain to get used to. Realistically you won't be using it for more than a few small sessions at a time.

It can cause headaches, nausea, the headset itself gets hot as + the physical movement will have your sweating buckets on your head.

Trying to play Skyrim in VR was awesome, until I realised VR games (at the moment anyways) shouldnt really be played for longer than 30 mins / an hour.

Have owned a VIve, Vive Pro, Index, Quest 2 and I always end up selling them because while I like the idea, realistically it gets f all use.

    • -1

      Don't believe it's changed.

      Wouldn't do it anyway.

    • I remember reading 6 somewhere for quest. Which seemed low to me.

  • What good of a VR headgear you can get? All I got was just dizziness and nausea.

    • +1

I get a tonne of nausea when I do any form of motion, but beat saber is a perfect video game imo.

      • Can play similar game on Wii

        • Username checks out. Doesn't quite compare to playing in 3D and feeling 'inside' the game though.

    • +1

Try travel sickness meds or just stick with the Wii.

      • How did you know? Wii is my favourite console!

    • From which headset?

You did get more motion sickness with the older ones that had lower hz displays.

But even with these newer ones that support 90hz plus, some people still experience motion sickness with games that simulate a lot of motion (e.g. long periods of flying or no teleport option)

      • +1

Tried the current gen PS VR, couldn't take it more than 5 mins

        • Yeah that's supposed to be at least 90hz

  • +1

Thanks OP. Wanted the carrots from EB Games but I rather have $130 in my pocket.

    • Same here and pointless in getting the bundle when it's only a digital code… can always buy from PS store.

This is a truly good deal and I managed to purchase it with my Latitude card for 50 months interest free.

  • Almost bought Psvr2 without owning a ps5.

    • +1

      Why?

      • One day i will

        • +1

at this price, you should just buy the console first.

  • +1

Deal dead? Can no longer cart the standalone headset either

    • +2

Same here, I think they stopped it

  • Thanks OP! Got one around 9:50pm

  • +1

Argh so annoying to hear they put the cash rewards code up late! Can’t win em all I guess.

  • +2

I expect orders to be cancelled. They'll be making a loss on this, no doubt.
Furthermore, since it is a preorder item, they have more than ample time to go through each order and issue the refunds. If the code worked on PS5s, that would be a totally different story.

    • I converted a few ‘home’ gift cards and would be pretty pissed if they cancel it NGL. Should have just ordered with cash…

      • Pushed your luck there. You know what the saying is, if it is usually too good to be true, it usually is 🤷‍♂️
You'll get issued a GG gift card and you can use it next time.

        • Next time they cancel an order? I swear the last time I ordered from them they cancelled to be fair. I don’t understand as I find JB to be generally very good, why are GG so bad?

          • @cc23: Because GGs f up more than JB lol.
I don't wish to be right here, but gut feeling is orders still be cancelled 100%.
You'd have been better off ordering from JB with 15% off TCN/ ultimate cards. That's what I did :)

            • @thousandsuns: Arggghhh that was why I bought the gift cards in the first place, just to buy PSVR from JB. But I converted 3 to use for this order, then could only use 2 anyway, which sucks. If they then cancel it good guys are 100% on my blacklist.

              • @cc23: Please pass those gift cards on to me. I assume you'll blacklist them BEFORE spending them, right? ;)

    • +1

why would they cancel/make a loss?

is the code not meant to be allowed to be used to buy the psvr2?

      • +1

No, it's not. Why on earth would they discount a preorder item? Let alone a brand new headset, which is full price on the market. They somehow stuffed up by letting the code to be used on preorder items.

        • +2

Amazon discounted the Edge Controller and that is still pre order…

          • +1

@Abraxsas: Since when is a controller the same as a $900 headset? lol. Based on that same understanding, the PS5 should have been on sale, too?
These things are overpriced for a reason, and they haven't even released it yet. Makes zero sense for them to be discounted. It's like saying Mercedes are taking pre orders for their new EVs that are yet to hit the market at a discounted price. Not to mention, the global semiconductor shortage has hit electronics hard, and it is only now starting to alleviate slowly.
Anyways, wait and see if they honour it. My guess is no.

            • +1

              @thousandsuns:

Since when is a controller the same as a $900 headset?

To be fair, that PS5 preorder controller RRP is $339. Yes. I know.

        • Not only that, the 10% code was a 15% code for some reason.

  • +1

Just some info, JB HiFi owns Good Guys….

    • -5

I was grew up right next to the very first JB Hifi in Nunawading Vic when it was a tiny back end store competing with other small music shops in the area…it's interesting seeing where all my money went over the years, pretty sure they owe me a lifetime 20% discount card at this stage but when it came to COVID they were one of the first Mega stores to lock people out without a QR code, so they lost my respect at that point. Grown to big for their own good so if i can find it elsewhere for the same price i'm gonna take that option. I'd not heard JB owns Good Guys as well but nothing surprises me anymore.

  • Will be interesting to see if they honour this deal. I once bought 2 printers from them that were supposed to be $104 each and they mistakenly put them online for $4 each. They honoured that. :)

    • I imagine you were one of few people who grabbed those, this has been smashed by OzB

      • Yep yep. The printers were smashed by ozb too. Was just lucky enough they honoured it. To be totally honest i won't be too upset if they don't honour this one. I'm sure i'll find a 5% or more discount somewhere and that will allow me to go get it on day 1.

        • I’m locked in with GG gift cards if they cancel. Gonna SUCK for me if they cancel. No one wants GG gift cards.

          • @cc23: Yeah i feel that. I'd try to avoid GG gift cards if i had the choice. Fingers crossed for you!

    • A $104 printer vs. a $900 VR headset…what do you think? 🤔

      • +1

Well they're wont be loosing out $900 as they are not giving it away for free.

        • +1

They've started cancelling orders. Told you so…

          • @thousandsuns: I knew this would happen as well.
My point is about you comparing a $100 printer vs a $900 VR. It's not about how much a product costs, it's about how much they lose on revenue from. a sale

            • @praga: Yes. Margins are lower on low-cost products as opposed to high-cost products. That's common sense.

  • I’m glad I missed this last night (if it’s honoured) or it may have just tipped me over the edge into getting it day one.

  • Does this always need a PS5 or can I hook it up to a PC or anything else??

  • still got 1 in my cart but looks like they removed the discount now

    • Yeah was always due to finish at 7am today.

  • Damn this is better than the $100 off AmEx offer through Sony. At least managed to nab the pre order then.

    Can’t wait, GT7, Firewall….goodbye real world!

  • They better honor it, the PSVR2 is selling well below forecasts and in the USA the PSVR2 Call of the Mountian bundle is $599 USD which equates to $853 AUD. The GG will take a massive hit to their reputation if they fail to honor it…..

    • +2

They cancelled a tonne of ps5 pre orders last year. Their reputation didn’t suffer.

      • what was the pricing error with the PS5?

        • They oversold the stock they had on the PS5 and had to cancel.

This is completely different, as the coupon code was for all gaming accessories the PSVR 2 is an accessory, not a price error here, as it wasn't listed as excluded on the T&Cs of the coupon code. They had no T&Cs to cancel out the PSVR being discounted.

          • @Thunder-Wombat: yeah, I also think they have no grounds to cancel any PSVR2 preorders….
