Expect more of a drop since the Dead space remake is out now

Save your money for Dead Space which currently has 90 on OpenCritic. It's going to be great.

      It's going to be great

Dead Space is already out. Playing it now.

TCP is a good game, I thoroughly enjoyed it, except for the final boss.

It is if you buy physical for console. Thanks to a "Global release" schedule the PC / digital editions don't unlock until 3AM tomorrow

I made the mistake of ordering on Amazon. It shipped at 5pm today with an estimated delivery of next Thursday. At least I saved $10

  • what is this Gen 9 gen 8 stuff?

I just finished the first two chapters. No idea if the rest of the game is the same but it's 100% linear.. If you think 'one continuous corridor' then you'd be right

I'll finish it because I've paid for it, it's short, looks pretty and i want to onsell it whilst it's worth more than i paid. But it's only passable

Not sure why you expected anything other than a linear experience? It was never promoted to be some wide open world with branching narratives or anything like that. Having just finished the game yesterday, it was quite enjoyable. A few critiques to be had here and there but still an overall enjoyable game.

      • Not sure why you assumed I thought it was a wide open world?

At this rate I'd be happy with a T junction with two directions to choose from.

        • It's literally a linear game, so you are spot on with the '100% linear' line. Like many other games of its kind, it has a set path that you follow and experience the story and gameplay as it has been laid out.

this is a bad bad game.

Currently playing through New Game Plus. Overall I liked the game but it's not without it's issues. The combat you will either love or hate. After you get the hang of it, it can be very fun. Especially after you unlock a bunch of stuff so you can start doing dodge shoot combos. Combat can get challenging but it's not really frustrating. When you die, it's usually because you did something wrong, and often you get into encounters where you're sure you are going to die and somehow you survive it.

The lore and story are fairly interesting, but make sure you listen to the podcast first to get more in-depth with the lore.

As I said though, there are downsides. The main downside is that it's not at all scary. It should be with the setting and everything, but it just fails on the scary factor. Audio queues that feel like they should be scary, instead feel predictable. Most jump scares are exactly where you would expect them to be. And the checkpoint system is so forgiving that it takes any fear out of the game.

As fun as the combat can be at times, most of the time it's not that exciting and other than good graphics and some interesting areas, there's little to make up for the lack of excitement 90% of the time. Still definitely worth the play. Just not sure if it's worth this price.

Actually, I think the best way I could put this is that it reminds me of Lords of the Fallen when it came out. I enjoyed the game as a Souls clone, and I enjoyed my playtime with it. But it just didn't feel as good as the source material. This is similar. When comparing it to Dead Space, it has more interesting characters, and it's heavily melee combat, but it just doesn't feel as good as Dead Space does.

Thought NG+ was coming in February. That's great, I will play it again, I actually do like this game and want to get platinum.

Did they introduce chapter select as well?

Edit: hardcore mode is coming out Feb. Might wait for that

      • +1

        No chapter select unfortunately.

  • Psssst did dead space ship today? Lol

This is a bug's Life and antz all over again

I liked this game. Was a fun short experience. Recommended dont listen to metacritic. If you like story driven linear games this is great.

Only thing i didnt like was consistent crawling through vents.

  • Someone should do a big System Shock 2 rebuild/rerelease.
