$10 off Your Next Bill Payment (Minimum $50) @ Sniip

3041
JANUARY2023

For those who use sniip to pay your bills, I've just received an email telling me about what appears to be a generic $10 off voucher on your next bill payment: JANUARY2023

I can only assume this code is valid until end of January, but once you apply it to your account you can use it anytime up until January 2024

For those interested in the Sniip fee structure, that detail can be found here. (eg amex payment to ATO for 1.5%):

https://sniip.com/personal-payments/

How do I receive the reward?

  1. Log into the Sniip app.
  2. Tap on the top left menu.
  3. Tap ‘Rewards’.
  4. Enter the code ‘JANUARY2023’ and tap ‘Apply’.
  5. You can now add the reward to your next bill payment!

How do I get $10 off my next bill?

  1. Tap ‘Bills’ in the lower menu.
  2. Select the bill you wish to pay.
  3. Tap ‘Pay’.
  4. Choose your payment method.
  5. In the Pay screen, turn on the toggle that says ‘Use Sniip Rewards’.
  6. Your reward has been added and you can proceed to pay your bill!

EDIT : New expiry date 1 Feb - make sure you pay a bill by then!!

    Cool, worked for me :)
Note, min bill pay of $50, so for me cost $40.60 after promo code due to 60c fee for $50 bill pay.
May be less for those with existing rewards balance from other things such as referrals.

    @ Sniip

    Ouch !!!

    • +4

We cut your bills, not your thrills

      • +2

I don't see much regular bill cutting with 1.5% fees for MasterCard and Visa.

Can you explain more or are you referring to this one off?

    • +1

Which ceremony do you prefer: The one on Fridays or Saturday?

  • Thanks op, applied $10 to my rewards section. Will probably use it on my next phone bill. 👍

You can finally afford to call mum!

If you’re a new user, don’t forget to add a random generated referral code before signing up from this deal

It stacks both this deal and the referral code

    • Hi, where do you enter the referral code? I downloaded the app and tapped on sign up but there’s nowhere to enter a referral code. Sign up options are: email, Apple, Google, Facebook. Thanks.

      • +1

Hey mate, after you click either sign up via email or Apple/FB/Google, the next screen should have a empty section in “Promo Code (optional) - Enter a referral code to earn money off your next bill”. This is where you can enter a referral code

        • After i enter my email, the next page it ask me for the full name and then my mobile number for verify. I cannot see any section that let you enter the referral or promo code.

          • @tongheitai: You’ve missed it. It’s on the screen where you enter your email address and password. Underneath the password section there should be a section called Promo Code (optional)

        • +1

@BargainsGrabber Thanks for the quick reply. It worked as described, referral section was on the bottom of the following page.

          • +1

@Khaosprinz: this was not the case on an Android, need to fully register and then go to Rewards on the left tab and enter the referral code there, it allowed me to stack both

  • Thanks OP

  • charges GST on overseas transactions. Is this even legal?

    • Why are you using Sniip from your yacht in the Caymans?

    • Username checks out

  • Thanks!!!

  • Thanks OP.

  • +2

Thanks OP. Signed up via referral button, got $10 and then added the code. Free $20 for not much effort!!! Another lucky chap got $10 too then I guess.

    • I used a random referral code from here and it didn't work :(
Oh well at least I got $10 from this code.

      • Not sure why it didn’t. I also referred my wife and she used my referral link and this code.

        • Oh once I had an account I referred by brother and that worked. He got $10 straight away and I just have to wait for him to pay a $50 bill to get $10.
Maybe the person who code I got put it in wrong or cancelled their account?

      • Probably a closed / disabled account.

      • How do I know if the referral works? Is it under rewards? I signed up twice with different referral codes and both times it shows $0 in rewards section.

        • It shows the amount in rewards. I have 2 times $10 there plus 1 pending when a person pays a $50 bill I will get another $10.

  • +1

    Akhil got $10 from me!

  • Thanks OP. Car rego coming up, so this will come in handy.

  • +5

Can someone tell me why Sniip is good? Their transaction charges seem to make bills more expensive?

    • +32

It gives us $10. Then we pretend it doesn't exist until the next $10 deal.

    • +5

You can pay off your credit card with your credit card, until you reach your credit limit. Then apply for a credit limit increase. Basically it’s free money until the music stops playing

      • +4

        Sounds like the government.

    • +1

Good for the churners to meet the minimum spend to get bonus points.

      • But you lose 1.5% on Sniip fees for bills paid with credit card? Am I missing something?

        • True but it's only for the first 3k-5k that might net you 100-150k points so it's worth the fee.

Personally I use sniip for my business bills so I can claim the fee as a deduction and I can claim the GST back too

    • +3

I was wondering this as well. Checked the website and it appears I can use my money to pay off bills, but with the added hassle of using a third party app?

Edit: I love this bit from their website:

      How it works
Sign up, scan or import your first bill and make your payment. It's that simple.

So instead of paying a bill, I can sign up and scan it first? Wow I'm sold.

      • You just scan the payment method section so the BPay code and reference number for example if you want

  • Thanks op!

Just signed up and got both referral bonus (Huy scored $10) and this $10 bonus

But how do I find my referral code so I can refer my wife? It's not showing in "rewards". Is there something I have to do first?

    • Just keep scrolling down the Home page on the app. There should be a separate section called Offers

      • +1

Thanks - thought that might be it but it says "oops something went wrong". Tapping to refresh doesn't help.

Perhaps account too new (less than 1hr)?

        • +2

Same problem here since last night

        • I've had my account for over a year, shows the same thing!

  • Thanks OP!

  • +4

I really don’t like how they push you to provide your driver licence or passport.

There is no need for that to pay my bills.

    • +5

You'll hate it even more when they ask you for a photo of your credit card.

      • Yep, no way I am giving these pricks a scan of my drivers licence

        • Can you make payment and then ask them to close account. I am hoping then they should be deleting your details.

          • +4

@amsaini15: Hope away - remember the Optus data breach recently? They leaked personal details from closed accounts year ago
These guys are way too curious with personal details

            • +5

@King Tightarse: I’m perfectly OK with receiving a $10 commission to get my details posted on the dark web

  • Works. Thanks op!

  • +1

I've never heard of sniip before. I don't really get what it's for… So you use them as a middle man to pay your bills instead of just going into your bank and paying the bill? How does this help? What value do you get for paying them to act as an intermediary?

    • +2

Is a way to funnel money to the LNP and they aggressively pursue businesses to sign up with them.

    • +1

The 2 reasons I used them was when they had bonuses like today and when wanting to use Amex with companies that don’t accept Amex.

      • You can still do Auspost online billpay with PayPal to use Amex where it's not accepted.

  • Do you need to verify your account to start paing bills?

  • How do i find my referer code?

    • +1

They have removed it from the app. We don't know if it's temporary or permanent.

      • Yeah.. I couldn't find it either and they have not updated their help page.

      • I still have it on my app (IOS). Under Home -scroll to bottom - offers

      • I can't see the Offers section in the iOS app for me and I just created an account.

  • Worked for me.

Can I pay my Optus and Medibank bills with this?

    • I think if your bill can be paid using bpay, you should be able to pay through snip. Some bills like Rates/utilities also support Sniip inherently that include a QR code specifically for Sniip which can be scanned to pay using credit card

Just found that to use the $10 credit, we have to use bpay as the payment method… :/

      • +1

Paid $30 + $20 (Free) into my electricity supplier as a credit.

  • great deal!

  • Code worked, thanks!

  • Ooh thanks OP for the $20 off!

  • +3

ATO doesn't work with CDC Visa card but I discovered ApplePay option and fees are little cheaper and it worked. Recieved 3% back back in CRO.

    • Was hoping someone was on here with CDC card. Thanks!

  • $10 valid to 30 Jan 2024.Worked for me for $10 off rates :)

    • +1

I found most rates can be paid via Auspost billpay and AP accepts Amex via PayPal with no surcharge.

  • Does it take only a business day to confirm my account? It says pending at the moment.

  • Has anyone successfully paid their rego for QLD transport using Sniip? The barcode doesn't seem to scan?

    • You can always manually enter the bill into the app

  • +1

anyone pay their bill without a surcharge? seems the only option is Bank Account method, how does that work in terms of linking your bank account?

    • They wanted a photo of my driver licence when selecting paying with my bank account. Not worth the extra risk imo to save 60cents (1.5% of $40)

  • Does the toggle ‘Use Sniip Rewards’ appear after you have chosen a payment method ? Ans: Yes, it appears after a payment method is selected

Is there a surcharge if using google pay ? Ans: Yes, same surcharge rates

  • Joel got $10 from me. Thanks.

  • +1

Got a $5 retention reward for attempting to delete my account!

Edit: How do I enter a referral code? I didn't see it when signing up.

    • Enter in the same place as rewards

      • I get 'Offer is no longer available' when I do so. Thanks anyway!

        • Same here also got 'offer no longer available'

      • Cheers, Nicholas got $10.

How long does the referral credit last?

    • Did you press the 2nd delete account?

    • How far through the process do you actually have to go to get the $5 for potentially deleting the account? Do you have to click the red 'delete account' button at the bottom of the screen or does it prompt before that?

  • Just clarifying if I pay 10K worth of bills in the year using Visa Credit Card, I get charged $150 in fee?

    • +1

My calculation aligns with yours. Most bills that accept credit card payments wil be cheaper than 1.5% though

It would probably be more worthwhile if you use your amex (which is a general statement and may not be true in your situation). But if the bill doesn't accept cc, this is an option for a price of $150

  • Was thinking of using this service to pay with Amex platinum card, but will pay more in fees than getting points!
    Any thoughts?

  • Just searched over 50 threads re sniip on various social media / forum posts, and not a single one had a single person clearly articulate an advantage or 'success story" of using this service.

Lots of confusion and questions though.

    Weird. Very weird.

    • +1

I’ve put significant amounts of money through Sniip over the past year or two and will continue to do so.

For me it’s a way to earn points on certain transactions that I otherwise couldn’t. e.g. where the only payment option is BPay.

Or, more commonly, to optimise points earn on certain transactions - ATO payments being the big / obvious one. Sniip charges are regular merchant charges, so they earn full points with Amex rather than a reduced rate.

Everyone’s mileage will vary, but with an Amex card that earns 1 FF point - 1 non-Qantas point specifically - per $1 spent, I’m happy paying the Sniip fee and effectively buying points for 1.65c each.

    • Works for me. Water, gas, electricity, rates and others don't accept Amex, so I miss out on points. I only get half a point on my useless Woolies Visa card and Amex pays me 1.25 points per dollar. So even with the 1.5% surcharge I am way ahead as far as I am concerned. I earned way more Amex QFF points last year than any other year since I started using Sniip.

Instead of reading reams of stuff posted by others, do a spreadsheet of your own bill payments, and if you have decent points earning Amex card, you can work out how it benefits YOU. Forget about what everyone else thinks or says. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH BASED ON YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES.

      • Yeah theres been a bit of this, and zero proof. Whats the dollar value of the points you earn this way? Or the ratio of fee to value, at least?

  • Where do i enter the referral code?

    • It's weird. It's supposed to be on the first pages when you click sign up (where you choose email and password). But I found the promotion code field doesn't appear when you first install the app. Instead, you need to create an account, delete it, then sign up again and the field will appear.

Note, I haven't been able to get the referral credit even after signing up at least 10 times with the same user and mobile. You might want to try a spare email/number first.

      • Instead, you need to create an account, delete it, then sign up again and the field will appear.

You don't need to delete the account…

Just enter the referral code in the rewards section.

But yes on Android on signup, it doesn't have anywhere to enter the code until you get into your account.

        • Yes, im using Android. So do i enter the referral code after signup? Will i still get the $10 bouns? Thanks

          • @tongheitai: Yes after. Log into the account and press the menu button then select rewards. Enter referral code in there as well the as January promo code.
