          • @SickDmith: I found an old $30 iTunes card at the back of a cupboard recently—must’ve received it as a promo from somewhere before I was invested in the Apple ecosystem, so had never used it.

It was old enough to have a 2-year expiry so now long past it, but being a rebel I still tried to redeem it to my Apple account balance just in case. It worked—score!

  • why do people love these Apple gift cards so much?

    • +9

      The stickers are awesome

      • +2

How many Apple gift card stickers do you have, out of curiosity? I’m assuming you got at least 72 from the first Woolworths / Apple gift card deal…

        • +1

You know, I did add them all up, but I didn’t keep a record of that statistic! I think they have five different designs at any particular time, so it’s not too hard to collect a set. They seem to refresh the designs occasionally. I wish I could say that I was able to get mostly variable cards, for the environment’s sake, but alas, it was a very mixed bunch of denominations. I actually couldn’t care less for the stickers, but I suppose presentation is important since it is a “gift” card after all

    • +2

I use them for my apple music subscription. So getting them with a discount helps.

    • Also I like how easy it is to scratch protective layer of to. ;)

    • Because they come with great stickers (which my kid loves).

  • -2

Oh nice, does this mean I get to save 15% on the ATO fines for my grandson who lost his phone?

  • +1

Any idea why it's not showing in the catalog? I don't want to wind up buying a bunch without the discount…

    • If there's a sign in the store, what does it matter?

Further, if the discount isn't applied, then don't proceed with payment.

      • I was gonna drop by first thing in the morning, maybe before the signage, but yes, you're right, I forgot that this is a discount instead of the usual Flybuy points.

  • +4

Grab it go to counter and system checks out 15% off

    • Thanks for the update

  • +2

Can confirm works in VIC. No signs at the store but scans 15% off.

  • +3

Confirmed in NSW. As above, no signs but scanned with the 15% discount

    • yup, and the staff didnt even know about it too haha.

  • As described, there is a limit of five $20 gift cards per transaction. Nobody complains when I run them through successively in batches of five, but they should — this is tedious!

    • +1

They probably dont have a clue about this promotion

      • yup none of the staff knew about the promotion in the store i went

        • +1

You must have friends in high places.

“Why do you want so many $20 Apple Gift Cards?”

“The $20 ones is all they have. Annoying, hey?”

“I have an awful lot of friends, but I don’t like them to think I have too much money.”

“To annoy the shit out of you. Sorry — I’m a sadist, you see.”

  • Can anybody from QLD confirm that the discount works ?

    • +3

      Yep from Brisbane

  • Well Melb Central Coles is sold out already. Will Officeworks price match?

    • +2

      Will Officeworks price match?

Think logically. How can they p/m if the promo is not on the catalogue nor advertised on the Coles website?
I guess you could point to this OzBargain thread. :)

      • +1

        Think logically

        Think different

        • That’s apple’s slogan. That should work

      • My local officeworks said no. Because she couldn’t verify the offer online despite having the receipt in front of her.

    • That's what I did last time round when it was 10% off Google Play.

In this deal's case, ozbargain pro's will be grabbing 5 at Coles then heading straight to OW to get another 5 with 5% price beat.

  • How are people finding the stock? is it quite limited?

  • North Brighton Coles (Vic) had no signage and heaps of $20 cards (interestingly no other denominations).

  • Has anyone had any luck paying for service/repair costs with Apple gift cards?

    • +2

Just got off the phone with live chat, and they confirmed that Apple gift cards can go towards service/repair costs. However, Apple account balance cannot.

  • -6

Only let me buy 5 even though I said it’s not on the catalogue and there is no fine print

    • The $15 savings isn’t worth the multitude of trips

    • +1

Who or what restricted your purchase? A staff member, the point-of-sale system, or someone/thing else?

      • Staff. She said something about 5 per person per transaction because it was on the catalogue or promotion fine print. But I said there were none and if she could check then she said a bullshit answer that one person can only buy 1

        • +1

It must be tough in the customer service business. I think I might start out optimistically with a smile on my face, the will to go that extra mile, and a heart of gold. But, soon enough, the customer would grind me down and I’d settle for the bullshit answer every time

          • +1

@tharlow: I think some people are just rule sticklers. If it's sold out, nobodys going to ask about how many one can buy.

    • +4

Dude it's literally in the post description, and in BOLD if you bothered to read the flyer.

Limit 5 gift cards per customer.

      • -4

If you read what i wrote, I was trying to push for as many as there were no flyers or catalogue prints that state that in the coles i went to.

        • +3

So you're trying to game the system and is pissed off cause you got called out?

          • -6

@djlee: I didn’t get called out. They lied flat out and I played by their rules. They said there was fine print on the flyer when there was no flyer and no fine print on the catalogue because the sale didn’t exist on the catalogue.

Looks like you’re one of those people. Why are you on this site anyways? If you love the system so much, feel free to pay full price for everything.

            • +1

@sunnyc: let me get this straight: you think that because there's "no flyer and no fine print on the catalogue because the sale didn't exist on the catalogue", that you should get access to a sale that, by your logic, doesn't exist? that's wild.

    • My two local Coles’ have signs stating limit of 5 giftcards per customer (or is that transaction?), seems to be generic.

  • There are at least fifty of the $20 gift cards left at Coles Bayswater (VIC).

  • 30 odd cards at Coles @ The Well (Camberwell, VIC). The checkout protested when I reached 5 but it got cleared by the staffer on duty.
    No signage anywhere.

  • Probably 50 at Coles Balaclava (VIC)

    • +2

      more useful info:

      • I went to a staffed checkout with 5, staff member sent me to the customer service desk after showing me the "ARE YOU FALLING FOR A SCAM" flyer and telling me a manager had to process because it was more than 5. ok sure, whatever, not everyone's good at maths.
      • the manager there processed all 5 - system took a minute to digest it all but it went through.
      • 15% off at the checkout, so $85 for 5 x $20
      • didn't try activating until I got home about 45 minutes later, they were all scanned and on my apple account balance within 3 minutes

I can't remember (and cbf'd searching to check) but I think this might be the first 15% off since 2021. that's a few months of cheaper apple music/subscriptions/applecare, and more tangible than flybuys/everyday rewards.

      • +3

I think this might be the first 15% off since 2021

App Store & iTunes gift cards were regularly 15% off up until May 2021. Apple Gift Cards were then introduced and there were four 30x points promotions (roughly equivalent to 15% off depending on who you ask) at Coles, Woolworths and Big W from August to October 2021. Since then it's just been a steady stream of 20x points offers so it's nice to see something different.

        • +1

Aha, brilliant - thank you for doing the research I couldn't be bothered with myself!

  • wouldnt let me check out 5 at a time :(

  • +1

    That’s good

  • Self checkout at coles failed for me and the cards declined activation…. Then the stock ran out. Zzzz

  • Went in did the 5 cards and put on account in 10 minutes. easy.

Couldn't imagine doing multiple runs to get a larger amount.

  • Plenty at Knox Coles. Bought 2

  • Not advertised anywhere in store but got the discount at checkout. thanks.

  • My local Coles had a printed A4 page near the entrance of the store, and another small banner on the gift cards wall. That being said there wasn't a huge amount of stock of the $20 cards (vs all the other denominations… no surprise).

  • +1

Smashed out 5x4 trips so far. Easy money! Seemed to be like 60+ of them left at 2 different stores.

  • +1

Will my apple account be blocked if I redeem more than 40 cards :3

  • So I could buy as many gift cards as possible to redeem onto my Apple account and buy a Macbook Pro online?

Sorry new to Apple and gift card stuff. Thanks.

    • Yes exactly

      • Is it possible to go into physical Apple store and buy Macbook Pro say with 6x$500 gift cards and the reminder on apple account credits?

        Thanks.

    • +1

Until you are marched out of Coles for breaching the 5-card rule.

(I managed to get 10 today in two lots by going to a different checkout.)

  • Haizzz collected 1k for 2 days already
Need more 2k for my macbook

    • Hello. So get as much as possible then redeem to Apple account and buy online?

    • +1

Won't it be a cheaper price if you buy 10% off JB Hifi gift cards and by Macbook when it's 10% off ?

  • I haven’t been scanning my flybuys for these cards apart from the first one to get an extra $5 off. Not sure if you keep scanning it could flag you?

I’m up to 6 times now. Prob get another 2 lots this arvo.

    • +1

I'm scanning. It hasn't had any adverse effect with past promotions.

      • +1

Cheers for the advice. Might get it a whirl then!!

        • Also, I'm paying with a Coles Mastercard, giving me an additional 2 points per dollar spent.

    • +1

Some say it'll reduce the Flybuys offers you would otherwise get. I don't see that as an issue as I never receive any Flybuys offers of note.

Woolworths, on the other hand, is prolific with its offers even though I purchase copious amounts of discounted gift cards.

  • You do get a Flybuys point per dollar spent on the gift cards, so that’s slightly better than nothing. I got 6k Flybuys points from yesterday’s effort, but I am exhausted. Today’s reduced haul will be make me seriously question my sanity

    • +4

FFS! Leave some cards for the rest of us.

  • I purchased today at Coles. There was no sign up in store, but did scan at 15% off. The register does stop you buying more than 5 cards. I only purchased 5, but a “reached limit” message came up.

    • Reached limit with just 5? That's dumb.

  • Officeworks price matched. Got 5 of these for $16.15 each, but they wouldn't do any more than 5.

    • "but they wouldn't do any more than 5."

Of course not. For me they will ask to look at the promo flyer and zoom in on the dates and terms every time.

    • Lucky you! My local claimed it needed to be an online accessible special, as did the call centre who then hung up on me when I pointed out that no where in their guarantee did it say that.

    • +1

There's two likely reasons for you being limited to five.

      • The pricebeat guarantee clearly states that Officeworks reserves the right to limit the pricebeat to "reasonable retail quantities". Considering the Coles deal is limited to 5 gift cards per customer, it would be reasonable for Officeworks to stick to that limit.

      • Officeworks limits gift card sales to a maximum of 5 per customer as well. It says this much on the Officeworks website. If you were purchasing instore, there should have been signs at the gift card shelf mentioning this limit too.

  • +2

99 gift cards, 12 Coles visits, 2.5 days, 2 hours work to save over $450 (15% gift cards, 5% cashback, 3% C/C cashback). Well worth the effort to buy an iPad Pro 11 inch 256GB, airpods, case and pen all with edu discount.

    • I think you didn't mention something important. You got the M2 model iPad Pro 11 right? Because that's all Apple sells at their store now.

Because Officeworks had a recent great deal for the M1 model 11 inch for $1050. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/752376

      • Because Officeworks had a recent great deal for the M1 model 11 inch for $1050. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/752376

That is by far the best bargain, but you also forgot to mention something important.
        Stock availability was piss poor.

        • Didn't know that actually I didn't follow the comments.

      • My bad, I assumed people would've understood that the gift cards were to be only used at Apple ie: only M2 iPad is available.

I like the feeling of having the newest and latest for it to last me 5-8 years

    • Where do you get 5% cashback?

      • Cashrewards

        • Cashrewards only has a 1.5% cashback. How do you get 5?

          • -1

@absolutec: It ended yesterday. It also was only available on education store , normal Apple Store is always 1.5%.
A weeks ago it was 10% for most of education store purchase (you can search on ozbargain history)then it dropped to 5.5 % after it, and 5% 3 days ago. Now it ended.

    • Good job! That's dedication to visit that many Coles over 2.5 days.

    • Whats the 3% C/C cashback?
