2050

Officeworks has dropped prices on the iPad Pro 11. $947 for 128gb M1 Wifi is the lowest price I can see for new stock. Same price on Amazon but appears out of stock. I'm happy with my deal, hope it helps you!

256gb for $100 more is the real deal here

    • Idk. That’s getting close to what I paid for my 256gb M2 11incher. (1253 iirc)

    • +5

1tb for $400 more and extra 8Gb memory is pretty good

  • good price

  • +1

Thanks OP. The 12.9” Wi-Fi + Cellular 512gb for $1647 was too good to resist

    • Just curious what do you use this for? It seems ipados is pretty limited so can't see how you could use the hardware potential of this

      • I definitely would not be using this to it’s potential. I use it almost entirely for note taking at work (with pencil). I mainly wanted this model for the larger screen and (near?) full-size keyboard. Given it’s for work and hopefully a tax deduction, price is a little bit more acceptable.

ugh i don't need 256GB for 12.9 inch , only need 128gb, just gonna be a media consumption device and uni.

    • -1

For just media consumption, normally I would say get the regular iPad. The iPad Air at most. The extra cost isn’t worth it. The IPP has a nicer screen and four speakers, to be sure, but that isn’t necessary. The IPP suits those who use the iPads apps and IPP power for considerably more complex tasks than watching Netflix.

For this deal however, it is below the RRP of an iPad Air.

      • -1

What "considerably more complex tasks" are you talking about? The regular iPad can do just about anything the iPad Pro can do. The iPad Pro is better in pretty much every way. We use my partner's Pro 12.9 regularly for media consumption and the kids use their regular iPads. If I had to purchase one of those devices for myself solely for media consumption I'd go the Pro. If I couldn't afford the Pro I wouldn't get an Air. If I couldn't afford an Air I'd just keep watching things on my phone.

        • +3

It’s nothing to do with affordability. I think he’s trying to say that iPad Pro processing power is overkill given how limited the OS is, to truly do anything beyond what the regular iPad can do.

Don’t get me wrong, I always get the good stuff where I can (expensive version) but as I get older and have chances to objectively compare things I buy, you quickly realise you have been forced onto the marketing ladder by the manufacturer.

Don’t worry man I’m probably going to get a pro too but don’t get it twisted, real world difference shouldn’t cost more than $50.

          • @BusMan247: To me the difference in processing power is one of the least important differences. The screen is way nicer, not even comparable really, and the speakers are way better. Apple Pencil 2 is nicer to use, charge, and store than the first gen with regular iPad. FaceID vs fingerprint scanner. Smaller bezels. Overall it feels way more premium and is a giant step up if using it for things like Procreate.

I'm not an Apple fan at all and don't personally own any Apple devices. I agree that they are overpriced. I'm just saying that unless it is a cheaper option for your kid, I can't see why anybody would want a basic iPad. For media consumption, the Pro is a very nice premium device if you can justify the high price. If you are looking for something for creating digital art, iPad Pros are excellent value.

  • Thanks OP! got one!

  • +2

Thanks OP! Grabbed the 12.9” Wi-Fi 1TB for $1697; about half what Apple are charging , and $1000 less then at JB Hi Fi.

    • I bought one as well. Let’s see if they dispatch it or just cancel the order.

      • Just curious what do you use this for? It seems ipados is pretty limited so can't see how you could use the hardware potential of this

        • +2

I travel for work and normally use it to watch movies. Internet is limited and expensive where I work. Also good for note taking, planning. Mainly buying 12.9 for media consumption because of better screen and don’t mind paying bit extra for convenience of not carrying external ssd. Just load bunch of movies and shows to keep me entertained for 2-3 weeks at a time.

      • did you get yours or they cancelled it?

        • +1

It’s ready to be picked up at officeworks. Will pick it up tomorrow.

Coles has 2000 Flybuys points bonus when you buy Officeworks gift card with at least $100 in it.

Not sure if there's a limit on how many times you can get the bonus (ie when you buy multiple $100 GCs).

  • This or iPad Air 5th gen?

    • +11

This, 120Hz display, better cameras, Thunderbolt port.

      • +1

Yep. I had been looking for the air - 256gb was overkill but 64 just worried me. Then this popped up cheaper..

  • Very tempting, but don't think I 'need' it!

  • Ordered one, it's strange that despite having flypay as an option, it did not let me redeem existing flybuys points during checkout.

  • +1

Damn this is a good price. Nice deal OP!

  • Daymn wish i waited got the bloody surface

    • Which Surface? You're not happy with it?

      • -1

The one on ozbargin at the moment from the ebay microsoft store

    • As an iPad m1 owner I often think damn I shoulda got a surface pro (upgraded from spro 3)

      • Any reasons for that or just preference?

        • Relatively little things but for example:

ios still got a joke of a system for multi tasking
          - and external monitor support is still ridiculous (afaik) - just mirroring main screen.

Pc apps like Adobe software only have simplified versions (AND THERE IS STILL NO INDESIGN APP)

iOS safari still got certain quirks like no support for the amex security portal (just flat out gives you error checking out) - example: annoying problem for booking amex travel credit that I didn’t realise the issue until I retried checkout on my Pc…

I mean.. I make do, eg indesign I can rdp into my work pc and do it that way…

Media consumption wise, and general other tasks it’s great. Love note taking on it, which is something that never gelled with me using surface pro 3 and the pen.

to put this in perspective, 70 bucks cheaper than 1.5yrs ago
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/629811

    • Okay now i feel better for buying the surface two days ago

      • Same.

        • yea, anyway I bought using price protection in case it drops more

    • Inflation

  • Thanks OP, can't decide which one to get 11 or 12.9 haha. After something portable & light for note taking/drawing/reading study material such as PDFs, power point slides.

~$350 price difference just comparing base model.

    • +3

Go with the 11, 12.9 feels way too big

    • +3

If you're wanting portable to use on transport or while walking around the 11 is generally gonna be the answer.. if by portable you mean have in a bag and go from desk to desk the 12.9 is gonna feel satisfying but it's definitely a step up in size.

I say this after trying to make the same decision..

      • I agree. My boss has the 12.9, I have the 11. She doesn’t catch public transport, I do.

    • I ordered the 12.9 last night. I have a 11 which is a bit too small

  • If I have 1.3k in apple gift cards but not in office works. Can apple price match lol

    • +1

      Nope

      • -1

But keep an eye on refurb store or get edu offer on current model and flog the free airpods

    • Apple do price match

  • -1

    Wow!
HN affiliate freaks would call this piss poor planning?

  • Seeing the limited stock availability in store, what are the chances these orders will be fulfilled?

  • What's the normal price?

    • -1

I believe this one is one of those if you know it, you know it. And if you don't and actually needed one, you miss out big time.

  • Marvelous, will be upgrading from a 3rd gen Air. Was going to buy a 10gen ipad today, this is perfect timing

  • Website now shows 128GB OOS

  • Same price on Amazon but Temporarily OOS. Just placed an order to see if they can fulfil.

    • +1

Same here. Placed an order for 11 256GB

  • No stock everywhere.

  • -2

I thought I had successfully purchased (shows as pending on my CC account) but turns out payment didn't fully go through because I mistyped the CVC!

By the time I re-entered the correct details it was oos!

In frustration, I ended up purchasing an iPad Air (gen5) instead for $854.05 at Officeworks with price matching from David Jones.

    See: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/751170

Was also able to Ends up about slightly less than $100 cheaper than what the Pro would have cost. So for those who missed out (especially if you have the return to school vouchers) maybe that is an option for you.
The NSW 'back to school' vouchers to bring the price down to $704.05.

    • you could have got free airpods

      • Can't use return to school vouchers on the apple store. So this still ends up better for my circumstance. Especially as I don't want airpods and save the need to sell them to get a similar price point. Also had no other need for the vouchers as we have everything else required.

      • cool, I didn't neg you btw

    • That prompted a check on card, does not show pending yet even though I did use a saved card and had to enter 2FA sms code. Payment shows up on flypay page and Officeworks sent order confirmation so perhaps some delay at bank end.

  • Any reason for this? Seems a bit out of the blue and significant in price drop?

    • Release of new IPad Pro with M2 chip

      • Also a lot of people circulating leaked info on iPad pro next gen due 2024. Will reportedly finally be getting the OLED screens on both the 11.1 and 13" models.

Not a huge upgrade for the 12.9 that already had a nice screen, but significant for the 11, which didn't do blacks very well.

So better to clear stock now than wait until later in the year, when people might find it easier to wait a few more months for the next iteration.

        • Sigh still sucks while they lock it out of some sort of macOS

  • Is it cheaper than free airpods?

    • +3

I think it really depends on what you're after in the iPad.

You either get a refurb iPad Air 4 which gives you a good 4-5 years of use but only offers the basics, if that's enough, it's an excellent bundle with the free AirPods.

The Pro offers longevity with the 120Hz screen, 5G, ultrawide lens, FaceID, better 12MP front camera, LiDAR, Thunderbolt, M1 chip. I'd say for most people you'll only really use half those features daily. but things like the LiDAR, thunderbolt, M1 are nice to haves.

I ended up grabbing the Pro 11 3rd gen with cellular @ $1097. Yes it's still available at this point in time but base model is gone.

      • +3

Thanks I've come back to this deal and $1,297 for iPad Pro 11 3rd gen 512gb with cellular seems good.

        • +1

Nps. The 512GB seems like the best value, i didn't notice before, it's only a $50 difference between the 256 and 512. Though now it's entering the base M2 price.

The ipad can be ordered at the discounted price on Amazon but you will need to wait for amazon to have stock.

          • +2

@nicolascage: Nah this is pretty good. I’m happy with the choice. The % on 512gb with cellular is good if that’s the spec you need. There isn’t much difference between M1 and M2 iPad pros unless you are particularly after a certain feature.

      • FWIW I have LiDAR on a few apple devices. I have no idea what it does. It certainly does nothing for my photos. Apparently it supposed to but I benched it against my non pro devices. Lot of hyperbole. I love having features. Kind of weird when you can’t see a benefit of this apparent game changer.
