There’s also the:

  • Samsung Galaxy S23+ 512GB $299
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 512GB $599

If terminating the plan immediately, your Samsung Galaxy S23 essentially costs (($69 x 24)/2) + $69 (prorated) = $828-$897

anyone else not charged yet bill still says $0

    • got billed $897 :( ported out 5min from leaving shouldn't I only pay for the 1 day not whole month?

      • Definitely call up and argue you shouldn't be charged the extra $69.

        The calculation is 69x24 months = 828.

        • no luck with online chat might have to call they even ask why I cancel lol even says in T&Cs have to pay since cancelling mobile plan which is $69 so have to pay first month.

          • @Kingaz: Look at the itemised charges on your bill. For the additional $69, it will have been charged for x period, say for example, Feb 10 - Mar 10.

Chat to them again, say you cannot be charged for that as the service was disconnected on the same day you activated it (give them the dates the $69 was charged for and the date you disconnected). That's what I did and had no push back whatsoever.

            • @BW296: They waived it for me phew $1400 all up. I had to have a go at them saying I left within 10minutes lmao. I'll look for those details next year :) thank you.

  • @farque
Any chance this deal, or similar, can still be accessed? (Melb, VIC).
I'm out of contract (with Optus) and looking to get a S23+512 and all Optus will offer me is "go see our website".
    Thanks.

    • It has been available since this promotion ended, with half the storage until 20 March. As with the pre-order deal, the S23+ isn't listed but should be available.

  • How long after cancelling the contract did Optus issue a bill for the ETC? It's been 3 weeks and still nothing on my wife's account!

    • you might get lucky and not even be charged an ETC

    • Took about a month for me on a similar deal - that included about 2 weeks of hoping I'd grabbed 2 phones for free

  • To share an update, I received the ETC bill from Optus one month after I signed up for the plan. They did include an additional $69 to the $828 for the plan, but spoke with them online to remove it (cancelled on the first day).

  • Unfortunately, I've had push-back from Online Chat insisting on the $69 charge ($828 Termination Fee + $69 Plan Fee - Total $897 Bill), even though I ported out within the first 2 hours on same day - Anyone else manage to overcome this? What did you say to the rep?

i called them up and they had no trouble removing that extra $69

    • Does the Early Termination Charge need to be paid in one lump sum or does Optus break it into 'three monthly instalment' amounts - like when you upgrade contracts early with a few months' payments remaining on your old handset?

  • Does the termination fee count as an invoice for the device? Just thinking how it works from an accounting/deduction perspective

    • Don't think so, the $828 fee is the standard Early Termination Charge for this Optus $69 24 month contract. The Harvey Norman receipt pertains to the device.

    • One lump sum.
