Found this coupon code on Australian Frequent Flyer and should work for Economy Choice, Economy Flex and Business Class Fares on all domestic flights. I believe there is a 21-day advance purchase requirement (same as previous coupon code ITX13), and some blackout dates may apply. There is no listed end date for this code yet as far as I'm aware.

There is no option to enter a promo code at checkout so make sure you put it in when you're selecting the flight search settings (on the 3rd step).

Can confirm it works for NZ flights

  • Can you use your travel credit with these?

    • yes. Use the code at search, then at payment, use travel bank credit.

  • +1

Added code at search but 10% off not showing on checkout?

    • How far out are your flights?

      • -1

        next week

    • +2

Doesn't show as a discount at checkout, just gives you the reduced price as 'normal' price. Also as above discount doesn't apply to 'Lite' fares (in case that's what you were booking)

    • +3

The flight has to be at least 21 days out (from the searches I've just made).
It also doesn't apply to the budget, Lite (no checked in luggage) fares. The standard, Choice fares include luggage and seat selection with the discount, and business class.

        Updated post.

  • -4

Virgin is worse than many others as the luggage allowance can't be split in multiple bags.

    • +7

      You can't with Qantas either.
The only domestic airlines that let you split your weight allowance are Jetstar and Rex.

    • -2

An absolute joke of a policy.

    • +10

Virgin has never weighed my carry on. Jetstar are pricks about it.

  • Hope Virgin is better than Jetstar re: delay and cancellation. Price looks good for our flights.

    • +7
      • Better but not much. I flew jetstar pre covid n they were ok. 1st flight International last year 7+ hours delay.

        • Yeah they all have pretty poor reliability issues at the moment. I can't see that improving a lot on later in the year. Just something we'll all have to put up with occasionally for now.

          • @SimAus007: Thank you. Probably worth to pay a bit more for Singapore Airlines and the likes momentarily. Even though they're probably chaotic as well.

            • @Bargain-er: Yep, I think staffing issues are still playing a major factor, but things are slowly improving.

          • @SimAus007: *until later in the year.

They are from a stats point of view, they aren't in the sense that JQ will endorse over to QF and VA. But VA won't endorse over to anyone else if there's a cancellation.

      • +1

Yes they will, I've had a cancellation on VA and have been placed on Qantas before (I travel a lot for work). All Australian airlines have commercial arrangements with each other, common practice and it happens weekly to fortnightly.
I have a few friends that work in the industry locally (for QF & VA and all friends with each other). They don't do it in every situation,. obviously, only when they have to.
Do you know how many people get stuck on a cancelled JQ flight and they won't transfer them to QF? Happens all the time, not because they don't want to, but because they simply don't have the seats available to do so.
Qantas also place customers on VA, but only if they have to and provided there is availability (it's always considered as a last resort).
If you read AFF you'll read about plenty passengers this happens to.
But the chance of this happening to most travellers, is very rare, with any of them, as cancellations don't happen that often compared with the number of flights that take place and most airlines can resolve the issue without having to transfer passengers to another airline.

  • Maybe I am blind but I have been through the booking process twice now all the way to the credit card screen and cant see any option to enter a promo code…?

    • +2

It's there, directly after you enter the dates of travel, on the screen that asks how many passengers are travelling, it says "Add promo code", click this.

  • I tried Melb to Queenstown in October with the code and didn't get the discount.

  • The price on third-party websites is much lower for the same flights I am looking at - BNE-MEL in April.

  • I tried the promo code for economy choice option but I didn't get any 10% discount? I'm trying to book flights to NZ in October.

  • This didn't work for me for SYD to MELB flights that are 7 weeks away

    • I booked after finding the code(around $700 2people 21-23 April). Run search again using code and it took $70 off :(

  • Didn't work for me.

  • Also didn't work for me through the business portal (ADL-MEL return 23-24 Feb).

  • Works for flights within 21 days
    Example below is BNE-SYD 26/02/23
    https://imgur.com/a/eFfBNKx
10% off base fare (can be seen in fare breakdown), it's not a straight 10% discount because taxes and surcharges aren't discounted.
