Secugard Tuya WiFi Smart Water Leak Sensor US$7.77 (~A$11.21) Delivered @ SECUGARD Official Store AliExpress

130
4SG4C1

On sale is another smart home water sensor and cheaper than my last deal, however this one is Tuya only and doesn't have Zigbee so it can work in standalone mode without a hub. When water makes contact with the probes this can be configured to send an alert to your phone, play a sound on a speaker and a number of other tasks with a smart home setup.

Useful places for using these would be behind the washing machine, under a sink, next to the hot water cylinder and other areas where you don't want water to be leaking.

It's powered by 2 AAA batteries and there's a 1m cable for the water probe allowing you to mount the sensor quite a distance away from the water. It supports Tuya, Smart Life and Home Assistant.

  • So what are people using for the other part of this system?

I bought some with an in-built siren so I didn't need all this e-stuff, but it was very hard to find a suitable product. I had to settle for something second best.

    • Use them with a Smart WiFi Water/Gas Valve, https://amzn.asia/d/5F61f4N to cut off the water to the house if a leak in your vanity, washing machine, dishwasher, water dispenser is detected

  • The fact it doesn't have zigabee is a big reason it's cheaper

    • -1

Correct. That's what the deal says.

Bonus of Tuya is you can operate it without a hub so it's not a complete deal-breaker for everyone.

Helps to read the second part of the sentence 😉

          • @Clear: I don't think you read my comments about wifi always being cheaper then ZigBee but guess you just want to be one of those people today.

            • @asa79: Tuya isn't always cheaper than Zigbee.

              • @Clear: Wifi is always cheaper. Didn't say tuya in top comment. Please get your facts right before commenting anymore. Thank you

                • @asa79: How many edits did it take to finish that comment? An example of Tuya being more expensive than Zigbee

I'm not the one who went on the attack first.

                  • @Clear: Clear. Where in my top comment did I say tuya? I think you might be on something today. You replied to my top comment with dribble

Correct. I said its cheaper than my last deal because it's Tuya. Tuya is WiFi. Zigbee is WiFi, albeit a different standard.

      • Wifi drains the battery compared to ZigBee my mi ZigBee water sensors would last nearly 2 yrs without a battery replacement. So a saving of $1 over ZigBee isn't a deal

  • Hey guys, how long does the battery last with this?

    • Will alot less then ZigBee version since it's wifi

    • I have bought a similar one to this (Tuya, Wifi)
1 last around 1 year before needing a battery replacement.
4 others still haven't been replaced yet.
They let off a periodic beep when they need to be replaced.

  • Are we talking like 1 month, 6months?

    • Up to 12 months.

  • Thanks. Got some of the temp sensors last week, now several leak sensors.

I'm thankful, but you may have to answer to my wife! HAHA.

  • What a good hub to buy?

    • it's WiFi so wouldn't need a hub as just connects to your WiFi router via app.

  • Not sure about the probe design on this one. Since it looks to be designed to be mounted vertically putting it under a washing machine or something would be tricky, so really it can only go against the wall behind the machine which may or may not be ideal. The water level looks like it would have to be pretty high before it's detected if left horizontal.
