No dark, no deal (although I'm sure they'll be included, just not listed LOL).

    • +3

You have to be careful, I've been suck in a few times when I thought it was on special but it was not.

    • +2

      Once you go dark…

  • +1

Hopefully the Protein+ "Smunchy" one will be included also, it usually is with the Woolies 1/2 price sales.

  • +4

    .+1 for dark roast 🔥

    • +1

      -1 for Smooth
(Sorry Smooth lovers, you are the first ones on the the wall when I take over <insert maniacal laugh here>)

      • +1

You don't want lumps in your nut butter

  • +6

    Come on Amazon price match

  • +1

Are these any good? I only go by bega peanut butter (crunchy)

    • +9

IMO Mayver’s Dark Roasted is the best!

    • +3

At the risk of being cancelled, I prefer Bega Simply Nuts

I find the texture of the Mayvers a bit weird.

      • +1

This is the best one!!! Plus, i'm pretty sure it's one of the only Peanut butters that use Aussie nuts. Even pics has gone to argentina

        • I forgot to mention the 100% Aussie owned, made and grown. (Mayver's is upward of 50% local ingredients.)
I've been trying to stick to Local (Australian) products over the last few years.

    • the "Extra Crunchy" is very good too. Dark is good as well, but I prefer the regular (lighter) for a good PBJ sandwich.

    • +1

It feels a bit less processed, for example after a while some of the oil separates and it needs a stir. Feels more nutty and less buttery, taste is relatively similar.

    • +1

Depends on what you like. This is "proper" peanut butter, with just a bit of salt added. If you prefer American style food with a million additives, fillers and a tonne of sugar it's probably not for you.

  • Thank God for this, just about out from my previous stock..

  • +4

    Surely Amazon will pricematch?

  • Can these be eaten after its due past date? I have a couple of them in the pantry past the due date.

    • +6

I bought dozens in 2019 that I'm still devouring, taste's fine and I'm still alive.

    • +3

Not a peanut butter expert but I do work at a chocolate company that has products with nuts. The product managers tell me they don't eat any nut products past BBD since there's a chance of the oil in the nuts going rancid, so look and taste carefully and dispose if it tastes funny

      • -1

Don't put rancid oily nuts in your mouth.
That's a life lesson my Gran lived by.
Though if she didn't then maybe I wouldn't be here.

      • +1

Depends on whether it's been opened. If it's hermetically sealed you'll be fine well past the best before date.

  • +4

3 months without peanut butter waiting for this. Thanks.

  • Dark Roast Extra Crunchy is the only option.

Still haven't finished off me haul from last time.

  • Do you think this is better than Pic's?

    • +3

      Nope, Pics is the goat

  • I tried a variety of this once, and is was sloppy goo that had almost no taste, is that what it is supposed to be like?

    • Sometimes.

    • Just add some salt, sugar and butter. Sorted.

    • I agree, I had to put salt on it to give it some flavour. Then I just threw it out, waste of money.

  • Time to load up!

  • I bought a smooth type from the last sale and it tasted like it was made from stale peanuts. It had a weird taste. I have been buying Bega natural peanut butter and it taste so much better and more consistent.

    • Agreed. This stuff is nasty. Trying to mix in a small amount of good nuts can't fix the bad taste.

    • Bega "Simply Nuts"? Or Sanitarium "Natural"?
Asking, because I haven't tried the latter.

EDIT: Oh never mind, the sanitarium uses imported nuts.

      • Bega Simply Nuts

  • +2

Hands up if your pantry is full of empty mayver jars!

    • Got over 40 of them

      • Why?

        • +1

I washed and sold them on FB for $1 each. I had about 50

          • @thriftee: People pay for these??? Sheesh, here's me been giving them away…

            • +1

@zzyss: Hehe, if you have a lot it’s easier to sell. People making jams, pickling. Once it was for a wedding organiser. She needed many for whatever she was using it for

  • -2

Okay I liked these but after I tried Biscoff there was no going back.

  • Excellent! Need a few jars of the unsalted 👐

  • ? This product was $5 a year ago. How's that for 16% food inflation(!)

  • +1

Nice, time to grab a few.

I usually get the ALDI Oh So Natural dark Pb when mayvers isn't on spesh. Very similar for ~$3.30

  • Come on Amazon… I need more dark crunchy

    • Yessss crossing fingers!

      • They are really holding out on us it seems

        • I have been waiting but might give in and get it from local coles….

    • Amazon have price matched Dark Crunchy: https://www.amazon.com.au/Mayvers-Crunchy-Roast-Peanut-Butte…

It looks like they haven't yet matched other varieties.

Edit: Dark Crunchy now OOS at Amazon

      • Gee that was fast. Glad I gave up on Amazon and went to Coles instead! Gotta remember this for next time.
