Great feature set. Unfortunately, a bit at the expense of sound. But you can not have everything.

I know, inflation and all that, but it's crazy that this used to hit below $600 regularly in the past. Now at $849 it's considered a good bargain.

Have had these as TV speakers and unless you use them solely for that purpose I don’t really recommend.

The input switching is very frustrating as from 2-3m away it’s just a tiny led dot and if they’re on the floor you can’t even see it. Even on stands I can’t see it sitting down.

Plus no Spotify connect/streaming services built in so Bluetooth from phone is a bit ‘meh’. Third party offerings to resolve are expensive and there’s no automatic input switching on most.

As PC speakers they’re great. And now what I use them for. As TV speakers, I’d just buy a sound at personally…

Edit: they are very nice sounding speakers for the price. Pretty sure I only paid about $600ish for mine though?

I don't think they're good for TV, they're active speakers so if you already have an AVR then go for passive speakers.

I have no complaints as the only source I use is the balanced. I have put 2 subwoofers with these using a DAC. The sound is phenomenal.

The YouTubers are using them as TV audio, without a subwoofer. These definitely can be used as TV audio if you're not fussy about inputs selections lol

I also paid a little less than you so no compliments.

Secondary take on using them as TV speakers -

I love mine. They're fine for our purpose and we've kind of … memorised the location of the little LED symbol to determine what source it's on ha. Actually replaced my 3.1 setup (granted, mismatched, budget setup) with this and much prefer it.

We get past the streaming issue by using a Chromecast Audio hooked into RCA

Use it for movies/music/TV shows and love em.

The separation of voice isn't perfect and the loud sections definitely don't quite balance with the volume needed to hear voice just right, but I will say you DO need to sit centred for them to sound best.

      I think I paid the 699~? price.

      Would buy again.

Though for PC speakers I'd probably look at the S2000MKIII instead as they're a bit smaller/not quite as huge hehe.

Alternatively there's the S350/S360s too if you want to deal with a sub (I didn't).

Not sure how much better than the S1000DB these are, but those were great value at $350aud. I'm guessing the jump in price is not equal to the jump in performance. The features are nice though.
As others have said, not great as TV speakers due to the fact they are powered and are annoying to control volume on (if dealing with both TV volume and speaker volume).

  • Do they hum like the lower end models do?

    • +1

KRK monitors hiss, these are dead quiet, and that's what I love about S3000pro. I don't hear a thing, perfect silence and hum is not even any question.

      • I've had 2 lower end sets of Edifiers and both hiss or hum at higher volumes.

real cheap ones (R30s or something) and 27280DB or whatever they are.

kind of sound better than my AudioEngine A5s they replaced but the manual input switching and the noise is a drag.

        • If I put my ears next to the tweeter, there's nothing there.

Maybe the issue is there on edifier lower end models but you really have to put your ear next to the speaker. Could be audible in a treated room when there is no other noise.

I told you, reviewers say that krk hiss, so I returned them to buy s3000pro. I never ended up setting krk G7.

Agree to this. Zero hum, no problems here at all.

Quite a big difference between 599$ at last lowest sale and $849

Great speakers, I've had them for a few years as PC speakers, and would really I recommend them if they fit on your desk.

    give us the real deal

  • Meh, the reason to buy these back in the day when they were highly touted was the price they were available at, now that they are hundreds of dollars dearer it isn't as worthy as a deal

    • same as everything else, it is much more expensive now

    • Back then you were not paying attention lol I was sold when someone said, people are selling their AVRs and HiFi to jump on this :D I took the leap of faith at 550$.

I bought the s2000 mkiii for <$400 a couple of years ago so i have done my research about the lineup

  • How do these compare to the Q Acoustics M20 HD? They're at $835 atm.

    • +1

I think these are going to sound louder due to big driver, better due to planner tweeter. Cabinet is very well built. There is no auto tuning for room correction though.

Louder always wins. Trust me lol
