I am thank you Muzeeb, hope you and yours are doing well!

    • +6

      I see what you did there ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • November?

    • +1

      Fixed 😊

      • -5

Did you use the force ?

    • +4

Hahah, sorry! November was the last Telstra Day and I haven't had my coffee yet.

      • No 6pro 😒

      • +1

        Haha all good.

Not bad deals at all. Bought some Pixel Buds Pro from JB last week, streets ahead of my Samsung buds live. I can actually hear podcasts walking down the street (and integration with Pixel 7 is great too)

      • +2

        Website also still mentions November:
"Telstra Day February 2023 kicks off at 1am AEDT on Thursday 9 November 2023. The sale will run until midnight AEDT on Thursday 9 November 2023. These deals are far too hot to keep around for longer than one day!"

  • +1

    No iPhone 13 models down?

    • HN has mod 12's left and will talk you into a data sieve….

      • -2

Yeah though the HN S23 plan seemed a possible good option…but mini 13 on the cards, was hoping T might have them this T day..

  • Do I need a Telstra plan for these phone deals?

    • +1

      I don't think so

    • I am super keen to grab a 7 Pro to replace my rubbish Moto G9 Play. I asked in a local Telstra shop what the minimum I need to meet the requirements of 'Available to new and existing customers with a Telstra account'. He said I just need to assign up for a Telstra ID. No need for a plan. However, there's a 2 hour wait. Ain't nobody got time for that. I might head to OW and see if they'll match.

  • +4

Pixel 6a is an awesome deal, will try and grab one, upvote.

  • If an existing Telstra customer, can I buy phone outright without plan at all so I can give it to a relative who already has a non-telstra plan? Thanks

    • +1

      Yes, you can.

    • +1

Yes, I recently did for the Pixel 7.

  • +3

Any deals on the Pixel 7?

  • +6

The Pixel 7 Pro mentioned is only the 128GB model. How about $250 off the 256 or 512GB models?

  • +2

    Locked to Telstra?

    • +2

The Pixels won't be. I needed to sort out an esim issue in the Telstra shop, and they confirmed (as an aside) the Pixel 7/7P and 6A were network unlocked.

      • Oh wish I saw this. Tried price match at Officeworks and they said no, as they'll be locked to Telstra

    • +2

      no you can buy outright

      • Do you have a link from Telstra stating that this phone is unlocked when purchased outright? Another retailer said they can't price match because it's locked to the Telstra network. I can't find anything on the site confirming either way.

    • +4

I don’t think the major carriers have locked phones to their networks in like, a decade?

Maybe the ultra low end handsets which are subsidised by the carriers.

      • Ah good to know. Haven't purchased a phone on a plan for ages.

  • Heavily considering the Pixel Buds Pro.. Any first-hand reviews here? (yes I can read online reviews, but who knows what is or isn't paid heh :P)

Coming from Edifier Neo Buds Pro - having constant issues with the IEMs just not activating without placing them back in/out of the case multiple times..

Also partner still has an iPhone 8 and swore not to go iPhone again (hates icloud and how everything gets managed there). Trying to get her to go for the Pixel 6a!

Funnily I paid 749 for my Pixel 7! Would be the same cost for a 6a + buds with this deal heh.

    • +1

Interesting to hear your problems with the Edifier Neo Buds Pro. I have a pair and they have been fine. Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the case and the buds?

I do occasionally have a similar problem but it is usually related to the case and headphone not connecting properly electrically.

      • Yeah I've cleaned them in the past but will try again.

i find the app randomly quits too though. And Have had some random ANC issues (high-pitched sounds getting through and sounding even worse than with ANC off lol)

I also really hated that I needed ANOTHER app to update the damn firmware.. Looks like this may still be the case too.

Look I'm totally not trying to find reasons to buy a new pair of earbuds ok :P.

Sigh but may keep trying with these for a bit more.. Maybe… :P

        • +1

I was waiting for a Pixel Bud deal before the Edifier deal came along, so I am also looking for reasons why I don't need another pair of headphones.

I do have to agree the Edifer app is trash and ANC struggles in a few scenarios. I find wind is twice as loud with ANC than without. I would be interested to know if that is also the case for other buds (e,g. the Pixel Buds).

          • +1

            @samyall: Month later update!

Features on the pixel buds alone are worth it and seemless app and phone integration..

However. Despite playing with the EQ and even trying Wavelet. I just prefer the dynamic EQ (pre set EQ) and sound of the edifiers! Kinda frustrating. Makes sense they sound better I guess. Edifier is a sound company. Google is a software company lol.

I did change the pixel buds tips to suit my ears better but even so. Edifiers are more full sounding without any frequency sounding overpowered. Pixel buds lose on clarity by default, and pumping the mid to high end doesn't necessarily fix this. Bass is sometimes muddy which is annoying as I like a solid bass, but I need to keep these mid or even slightly below mid for them to be balanced.

            • +1

@ReaperX22: Thanks for the update! Really appreciate the thorough review.

You have made me feel good about exercising restraint!

Maybe read the comments before asking your question lol

I bought a pair recently because people on here had a good experience. But I'll be returning mine.

I find the fit horrendous. I think this is a deeply personal thing because other people specifically noted the fit is great for them. I can't get them to stay in without jamming them in to the point it's uncomfortable. Have tried every tip supplied.

I'm also having an extremely annoying bug that the two earbuds are out of sync, so the sound is awful. The "fix" is to turn HDD audio off and on, but this is a bloody annoying thing to have to do every time you use your headphones. I have a pixel 7 Pro, so you would expect two Google products to work better together.

When I googled it, I found people complaining about this issue with pixel phones in September last year. Utterly pathetic that it's not been fixed in that long.

      • +3

I'm one of the people who they fit perfectly.

Coming from my Sennheiser TW1 they are night and day. Integration with my pixel 7 pro has been flawless.

out of sync would be a deal breaker for me, what a nightmare!

      • +1

Oh interesting.. I've not had a 'sync' issue for quite some time in wireless IEMs. Definitely something I'll keep in mind.

    • +1

super happy with my buds - fit is excellent and zero issues.

    • +2

Bought my buds late last year after much umm'n and ahh'n over the decision. There's too many options these days.

For me – they're the best wireless earbuds I've owned. I primarily use them for podcasts, and the audio is perfectly fine for that. The microphone for calls is great—and much better than my old Jabra Elite Active 75s. And the multi-point setup actually works flawlessly, which is the best for me. Many other earphones promise multi-device support, but the reality is a clunky, inconsistent experience.

Conclusion: strongly recommend these buds :)

    • Yup no issues for me too, extremely happy with the purchase.

      • I've just been given the greenlight by the boss for both. She'll be upgrading her iPhone 8 to a 6a and I'll be getting me some pixel buds. :D

  • I don't currently have a telstra service (but still have a telstra id and can log in). Am I eligible for these outright phone deals?

  • +1

Will wait for the 7a. Something tells me its going to be a banger from how good the 6a has been.

    • Likewise

    • How much will that likely retail for?

  • +3

Do JB Hifi have a good track record of price matching Telstra days?

  • -5

Hi Luke, Telstra is leading the way in the implementation of 5G communication.

Have there been any announcements regarding incentives to boost adoption of 5G over NBN?

    • Not sure this is an ama…

      • -4

Lol, why even associate yourself with a company when you can't/won't talk with the community?

        • That’s a forum thing. Can’t flood the deal with random chat.

  • +2

Hoping they can beat the current JB & Google price on the Pixel 7! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/754482

    • No luck. Still $999 at Telstra.

  • +1

Is any trade-in bonus promo planned in future?

  • +1

1AM Thursday is a strange time to start the sale haha

    • +1

Would be midnight in QLD, so maybe that's how they timed it?

  • +1

Hey Luke, can you please expand on the "save up to $80" on the Nest products? Thanks

    • +3

If you like your home smart, Telstra Day is also the day to stock up on Google Nest smart devices too! We have the Google Nest Hub Gen 2 for $79 (save $70), and the extra-large Nest Hub Max for $279 (save $70).

The Google Nest Mini smart speaker is just $49 (save $30), and the bigger Nest Audio is $119 (save $30). If smart security is more your thing, keep an eye on your front door and driveway with a Nest Cam or a Nest Doorbell, both $249 each (save $80).

    • Updated description with prices.

  • I need a battery day for my Telstra Samsung

  • +1

What do you do for the Telstra ID requirement? I thought previously they said that but never really enforced it, and other places pricematched too. It seems like this might not be the case though. Can you just sign up on a basic prepaid?

    • +3

Dont bother. Just get JB to match through online chat. Much easier

      • JB live chat generally don't price match it because of the telstra id requirement (I tried a couple times a month ago), better off trying Officeworks.

          Were matching last year

          • +1

@Kanjus: Didn't want to do it for me just then unfortunately. As always, YMMV…

            • @teereb: Did you try multiple agents?

              • @Kanjus: Nah, toddler running around, cbf

Yeah Telstra is bs to buy through too, asking way too many details for an out right phone, bought through Amazon cheaper, and in 20 seconds, not (profanity) around with Telstra site for over 20 minutes just trying to verify and re verify number email address, then wanted licence and passport details, yeah eff off, just so you can have days breaches and claim ignorance, no thanks.

  • +2

+1 for the Pixel 7 Pro - just took it on my honeymoon and it was exemplary at taking all kinds of photos
    😁

    • +3

Be kind and share some of those all kinds of photos!

      • +1

Haha maybe not the best choice of words 🤣

It handles zoomed in shots, wide angle landscapes, portrait shots… Etc really well.

  • When does the Telstra Day sale start?

Telstra Day February 2023 kicks off at 1am AEDT on Thursday 9 November 2023. The sale will run until midnight AEDT on Thursday 9 November 2023.

  • Does anyone know if one can use Telstra points to buy?

    • +2

Not on the main store but possibly worth checking the rewards store on the day to see if there are matching discounts on points/points plus pay.

      • Yes you can, just checked, for a whopping 250000 points :o

        • My rewards page still shows the regular pricing. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Would like to use the rest of my points with this discount.

(I'm not associated with Telstra, won't let me edit it)

        • Actually it's down to 166,000 points. By my reckoning of 10,000 points = $20, that's only $332!

  • +4

With the recent S23 pricing and the amount of hoop jumping to get the $$ down to a reasonable level, pixel 7 is increasingly looking like a more viable option.

  • -1

Will Officeworks price beat? I’m looking at getting a nest cam and prefer the single as opposed to the 3 or 4 pack (I understand the multi packs only come with 1 charging cable).

    • They are indoor charging cables / chargers so its best to not use them outdoors anyway unless you are putting them up indoors.

    • -1

      Nope. Need a Telstra service

    • -1

n=1 here worked for me on a P6P.

I was logged into my Telstra account, and showed the team member the "buy outright" link.

      5% price beat 😀

  • -6

    Spy phones lol

      Spy laptops lol

You are not that important in this huuuuuge universe. Dont worry too much.

    • Pretty sure you can turn most activity tracking off

  • No Nest Protect fire alarms?

  • +5

Bruh, Pixel Pro not at $999?

  • Does GrapheneOS work on Pixel 7/7Pro?

  • Can we do trade-ins?
