30 Days eSIM Free Trial on Any Mobile Plans @ Gomo Communications (App Required, New Customers Only)

220

UPDATE: E-sim issuance is broken. No-longer works

Has been advertised on Ozbargain previously. Seems to be still valid.
e-sim setup requires gomo app and creating a new account.
Takes under 10 mins.

Requires e-sim capable phone.

I have used this deal consecutively for the past 5 months.
Just need a unique email each time. I use the "+" hack in my email to get unlimited unique addresses that all go to the same location.

Up to 60GB data free for first 30 days.

I seem to get errors when I try validate my VIC licence but passport works fine.

Does it have auto-recharge/payment or can you just let it lapse after 30 days?

    • +1

I cancelled immediately after I signed up. Esim still active. But always best to use a card with $0 balance, even better if you have a spare one of those 10% off Coles Mastercards with no funds left

  • Do they provide qr code for esim

    • No it just "Downloads" through the app

    • This’s my question too. Their app download feature doesn’t work for me, they sent the email 3 times and support took so long to identify the problem I canceled the order.

  • CC details required :(

    • +5

      Revolut disposable card with $0
Zip disposable card which expires after auth check

  • Further details on the crucial email hack.

Say [email protected] is my Email.
New unique email for each month is. [email protected].

You can cancel right after signup and still get the full month worry free.

    • So it doesn't define new customer by ID…? What… hahaha

  • "a system error has occurred…"
I have received this error a number of times since first attempting to sign up a couple of months ago. Tried again today and same error. Seems to be other people in the app store complaining of same issue. It happens after credit card and then license details have been entered.

    • Tried to sign up since last night. Similar issue. Chat to them this morning and got their "help". They thought they helped, but I ran in a vicious cycle that ended with system error. Just chat with them again and they told me to wait 24-48 hours before trying again. Hopeless.

  • Will the esim work for a Galaxy Watch?

    • Has to be a qr code.
There is a hack to make it work

    • Most likely not, eSim on watch need use service like Telstra 'One Number', Optus 'Number Share' or Vodafone 'NumberSync, more info in here:https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/esim_wearables

      • As i said, there is a hack, but you need the code line in QR code

  • will try to see if it works,

  • Once registered, can you transfer to another phone? - its handy to be able to pass around esims….

    • One of the pain points of eSIM's for me at present. It's a pain when you switch phones often. Unless I'm missing something and there's an easier way to transfer without contacting the provider each time?

      • One of the benefits of Esim is meant to be the ease of transfer, something I suspect telcos have made difficult by design. They want people stuck on the $$$ contracts

  • Keep getting “Sorry, encountered unexpected issue” at cc page. Unable to activate. Anyone having the same problem?

    • Yep, me.

      • Me too.

Tried to sign up since last night. Similar issue. Chat to them this morning and got their "help". They thought they helped, but I ran in a vicious cycle that ended with system error. Just chat with them again and they told me to wait 24-48 hours before trying again. Hopeless.

        • Any luck yet?

          • @Krazyy: I gave up. Signed up with Filex. $35/month but with the code for $35 off so it is like free for the first month. Unlimited data but CAPPED at 20mbps! Ironically, I have trouble with connecting to the internet through this service. Troubleshoot with them - They tried to reset it but the issue persists. Will chat with them again tomorrow.

BTW, when I requested GOMO to cancel my request to port my number from Boost to them they offered to give me a physical sim then I can change to an esim later. When I complained about the "system error" they said that they fixed it today. Wonder it it is true.

            • @hluu0111: GOMO uses Optus Network, when I activate Optus esim, I get the same error. I think this is an issue with Optus esim system. GOMO as a reseller cannot do anything about it.

  • Like above. Came across their site and hadn't seen this post.
Errored out after credit card and ID check. Never received a sim. Now to get them to delete my information.

  • Try to sign up with eSim, but got errors. So I chat their staff to cancel my order. Confirming by their staff that "we are experiencing issue with the issuance of Esim link."

Yeah I got the same, Huge bummer.

  • Got an email saying my eSim had expired, despite never receiving it. Had to provide 2 forms of ID (more than I needed to sign up, I believe) to livechat to cancel my account and they said they couldn't close my account and remove my stored identification online and I had to visit an Optus store?

In the process I got 3x emails from Optus saying my account had been accessed too.

  • Yeah, eSIMs have been broken for like a month straight. Their IT department still doesn't have an ETA on when they'll be fixed. Don't buy this, it literally doesn't work.

  • Is this still working, I am asked to pay at checkout.

    • +1

It says pay but it wont charge you until the next month. You can just cancel immediately in the app without losing access to the data you signed up for.

I seemed to not be successful this month. some technical issue with setting up the E-sim.

    • You mean you were successful last month? Is it not for new customers only, so your failure this month should be because you're not a new customer anymore?

      • +1

As I said I have used this deal repeadedly over the past 6 months. But not this month as the sim "download" process is broken. Backed up my many other commments

        • As I said I have used this deal repeadedly over the past 6 months

          Sorry, missed you saying that

        • thx, was just abt to signup and u saved me, time to hunt for a esim deal i guess

  • Still not working?

  • Tried today downloading esim on pixel 6, worked - new number not port in

  • Attempted to get free trial on my iPhone 11. Would not show the promo/discount

  • can anybody else confirm that the eSims are working again? thanks

edit: not working for me.. I kept getting an error after entering CC details - I messaged help chat (via their webpage using a web browser cos the help chat inside the app just stick on "connecting..". they manually set an account up for me, however when I click the link they sent to my email to download esim to my phone, I just get an error page saying

"An error occurred while processing your request.
    Reference #30.xxxxxxx.xxxxxxxx.xxxxxxxx"

apparently help chat can't do anything to fix this

    • A bit late but their eSim issuance is broken again. Just tried to transfer my eSim to a new phone and they can't issue a new eSim. Told me to go and buy a physical sim.

  • How long do Gomo services last after service expiry?

Found the following on Whistleout by googling, so I assume it might be 6 months. Can anyone confirm?

What happens to my number if I cancel?

If you cancel your gomo service without first porting your number to a new telco, your number will stay active for 186 days from when you cancelled your service. You can keep your number if you re-establish a gomo service or port your number during a provider during the allotted time frame.

    • According to customer support, 186 days after plan expiry (not plan activation)

  • Just went through the activation process (for a port-in) and I had no issues with the eSIM issuance via app. Worked fine. First time having a eSIM "pushed" directly through a third-party app straight into my phone. Was expecting to need to scan a QR code like you do with Kogan, but pretty seamless and straightforward.

I was speaking to customer service who also gave me a heads up that there might be some issues with eSIM, but by the time they gave me that heads up, I had already submitted my activation and the eSIM was already successfully on my phone.

Also - the first month free totally didn't work for me.I got charged - and I even asked customer service before I paid, who confirmed that it will be free. So I asked for a refund since I got charged (and nothing in the process on the app implies the first month would be free, tbh)

    • lol crap. I'm overseas. and they don't support roaming… oops.

edit: wait a sec - they DO support roaming. But according to their website, they don't, but I have now successfully picked up reception from overseas.

      The exact wording is:

Non-standard national calls or SMS/MMS, international calls or SMS/MMS and roaming are not included in the gomo plan.

However, this could be interpreted as "roaming charges are not included in the gomo plan" as opposed to "roaming functionality is not enabled"

I initially interpreted it as the latter because I wasn't getting any reception, but I now believe it is the former. Looks like this customer service rep who was assisting me had no idea roaming was actually enabled on gomo either because she said it wasn't available, and when I asked for a timeframe as to when this was enabled, she said "haven't heard anything from higher up so far but it's something we're working on" lol

  • Seems like "replacement" eSIM issuance is broken, but the initial eSIM which gets pushed via the app works. That's why I was able to get it activated successfully via the app. However, I asked them to give me a new QR code because I wanted to change device. That's when I started experiencing the exact same issues you guys have been describing about eSIM issuance:

An error occurred while processing your request.
    Reference #30.xxxxxxx.xxxxxxxx.xxxxxxxx

    • I was able to get it activated via the app but the free promo doesnt show anymore
