Heck, why not. One less job for my insurance manager.
CE approval just means it approved my the manufacturer as conforming to expectations of quality - there is no actual guarantee.
CE Approval = nothing
I recently had a similar lighter plug fall apart leaving pieces from the end floating around in the bottom of the socket. Cheap but durable quality…?
So many promises for 99 cents.
To clarify/add to what people have said:
CE stamp means NOTHING unless you are selling the product in europe. Even if you are, you can sell a different version there which actually conforms or remove the logo.
This is assuming the distributors even follow the regulations, but selling a non CE conformant product with the CE logo is completely OK in australia.
As far as I know, a CE compliant (documented that is) item can be given a C-Tick in Australia (our CE equivalent) without retesting. However, CE and C-Tick is more about ensuring a given item doesn't cause interference with other devices.
I don't think there is any law that a device must be C-ticked to operate here, though I think it must be C-ticked to be sold here.
I bought a 4 port mains USB charger from meritline that says it can supply 2 amps but can't even supply 0.5amps (I tested it) and the USB ports were so sloppy the cable just falls out. I also bought a microSD card reader that is hugely unreliable so totally unusable. I don't care what they advertise I will never buy from them again. From my experience they are just a clearing house for Chinese junk that is too bad to sell on eBay.
