[Pre Order] Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 512GB + Bud2 Pro + 24 Months Samsung Care+ $1958 Delivered @ Samsung (via WBC CC)

980
BONUSCARE

Ok, so here is what I just did…

  1. Clicked through via Shopback (current 8% offer announced today I believe).
  2. Ordered S23 Ultra 512 (Graphite Grey - Online Exclusive).
  3. Added Galaxy Buds2 Pro (Graphite Grey).
  4. Added Samsung Care+, 24 months.
  5. Added promo code "BONUSCARE".

The Pre order gave a $250 e-voucher like so many other places have. The took the Bud2 Pro's from $299 to $49.
Pre order offer also included 50% on samsung care for 24 months.
Using the "BONUSCARE" code - this took the remaining 50% charge of the Samsung Device care to $0.
Placed the order using a CC with screen cover included (not that its needed due to device card, but hell… why not, right?)

All items in the order will ship on the pre-order shipping date: 15 Feb 2023

"Total savings:$724.50"
Not including the cashback from Shopback.

Calculating (rounded):
Total cost of : $1998 order
- GST: $181
Ex GST: $1816
- 8% (expired) confirmed as tracked (just hope its approved) Shopback: $144

$1998 - $144 = $1854

Roll the dice and see how you go.

Should work the same way with all the other models too. S23, S23U, and variation on the storage sizing etc (excluding those without the double storage offer).

I also used some of my Samsung Rewards Points, so its actually a bit cheaper.
You can also use the trade in offer also, if you have an old phone lying around, or buy something from ebay or gumtree for under $300 and want the bonus trade in credit (min $300 for eligable devices. I keep all mine, and cant be stuffed going out to pick something up from anyone else…) So if you want and find something on your way home from the office or the likes… Grab one a 2nd hand one and take off another $300. Just make sure it in the list.

Oh, and if you subscribe to it - best add in some flowers for your partner, or chocolate, or beers, whatever it is that work and whatever way you play it!

I'll just buy myself something else today. ha!

Happy OzB'ing…!

Update - 15/02/24: Cash Back values updated…
SB has revised the cash back to 5% today (normally 2.8% was 8% yesterday)
CR is at 6% today.

*** WBC CC CUSTOMERS: ***
Just logged into Westpac, looks like the WBC Sammy portal is listed again.
Shopping carted the same order and same code (bonuscare) - comes out at $40 cheaper than yesterday.
Total: $1958

Looks like the phone is $40 less by way of WBC discount. No big deal. I'll keep my previous order in the system. Too myc stuffing around for a $40 saving.

Wait 9 months for 75% off

      • +15

        75% huh?
Straight out discount on the device you think?

        I'd say not…

If so - $50 says it wont be 75% straight up discount on the new device (current value)…

        Today + 9 months….
        "Tuesday, 14 November 2023"

        RRP today $2249
        - 75% = $562.25 selling price in 9 months for a new device… interesting call!

        $50… keen? :)

Otherwise, clarify… Keen to see where people think this will go. ha!

        • +3

          Hey @mickyb80 I'll bet you $50 that you're right

          • @indianregulator: Now that doesn't work! hahaha
But you can throw down too if @easternculture accepts the bet! :)

        • -5

Bet you $50 that I’ll never own a Samsung Galaxy 😝

          • +1

@Shaquille Oatmeal: They are affordable second hand especially a year or 2 old.

            • +1

              @Spendmore: I’m in

              • +1

@Shaquille Oatmeal: They are very good phones, the OS has been fine tuned over the years to a point where it is pretty refined now.

                • +2

@Spendmore: Oh really. That's nice. Would consider a Samsung again. I was put off by the bloatware and my screen broke when I dropped a screw on it from like 20cm away.

                • +1

@Spendmore: Have to disagree. The lack of choice regarding Samsung apps sucks. They are there and you can't get rid of them, want to use the Google phone app? Gotta keep the Samsung one..
Also I get galaxy store notifications which can't be disabled, I've never used the galaxy store and don't plan to.

Basically if you like using Google apps and you have previously had a pixel phone, moving to Samsung feels like you're paying $$$ for Samsung force their apps on you.

                  • @DeToxin: You can always use Tasker/Autonotification to immediately remove the Galaxy store notifications if they bother you.

                  • +1

@DeToxin: I just installed google phone and was given the option to set as default, i cant hide the samsung app though but thats a minor inconvenience.
I had a huawei previously and i git pop ups from their own app store a lot more than samsung.

                    • +2

@Spendmore: I've already done that a couple of times and sporadically get requests to set my default phone app again.
I understand there are other manufacturers who have even worse software, but those are considerably cheaper.
Samsung have gotten a bit better by reducing the amount of bloatware they preinstall but it's still garbage having a suite of apps forced on you when you're paying a premium for an android device.
I'm not sure what the pixel 6 & 7 are like because my last pixel device was a 3xl, maybe everyone's forcing their apps nowdays.
I just figure that for $1k+ I shouldn't have to keep a bunch of garbage apps that Samsung install for the sake of it

                      • @DeToxin: Yeah it would be good to have no ads at all, i haven't used IOS i wonder what the deal is there, they are comparable in price.

          • @Shaquille Oatmeal: Missing out!
Like great gelato… You can also just head to coles and get 'average icecream'… but for double the price, you can get oh so much less (qty), but the extras and flavour is… oh… so… worth it!!!

(Anita's over Messina… Just saying!) lol

Sydney folk and visitors will understand, as will Brisbane foodies.. Melb's only has Messina… Missing out!

        • It's possible they do a triple discount by 'mistake' that's kind of how i got my note10, s21 ultra, s22 ultra.
Bassically all over 70% off within 6 months of coming out

      • +1

or live the ozbargain life and get 80% off the week before release

      • Of course!… with a cracked screen.

      • i got Ultra 512gb for like $1500 with, 4 cases, 45W charger, and 24 month Care

    • meh…

    • +7

Where?? I'm still seeing the S22 ultra 512gb for around $1300!

        • +10

          you traded in a flip…

          • +1

@sktzr: That's how Samsung work. they don't want to ever reduce the retail price or have a sale without a catch because then people who bought it outright and paid full price get annoyed. But effectively do reduce the price buy huge amounts very quickly. Sometimes that might require having or even buying an old samsung phones like an S8 or S9 for the trade in bonus.

            • @bobvegas: Idk if there's other perks to trade-ins, but they'll give you a whopping $5 for an S8 and $15 for an S9. If you want a cheap Samsung device, buy refurbished from an authorized ebay seller during a good 20% off sale (22% with eBay Plus!)

              edit
Just noticed Trade-in Value and Trade-in Bonus are different things. They'll offer like $2-300 trade-in bonus which is pretty good. Still, refurb is way cheaper lol

          • @sktzr: No, I didn't. See my comment below.

        • You traded in a flip, and you bought the 128gb, it's not a fair comparison

          • @indianregulator: No, I traded the iphone xs, but I didn't used the $230 gift card for the phone value and only applied $500 trading bonus. Check out here.

    • +3

Look at the price of the S22U.

    • +3

Telco getting 50% off rrp.. s23 Ultra 12gb/1tb is $1324

    • +1

I've never paid full price for an Android phone, but 30-40% off is usually the sweet spot buying most Android phone which usually happen within 3 to 9 months after release. Half price Android phones used to be possible when Grey Market phone haven't incur any GST.

      • Do you get special code sent or automatically the 50% discount is applied if you are Telco employee such as Optus.

Can you share direct link to sign up if you are Telco employee?

  • Can you use device trade in for this deal?

    • I would assume so. I think base samsung store is $300 bonus trade in.

    • Yep! Just updating the post actually.

  • +7

Chances are the cashback won't track since the coupon isn't listed on Shopback.

    • Possible… One could argue this point as its referenced in the pre-order deal though… Either way… See how it goes I guess…

    • +1

Yes if you use a coupon code then it’s likely the cashback won’t track as the bonus Care is sort of like the cashback that would be going to Cashrewards.

    $2000 for a Samsung phone……..for $2000 I can get midrange gaming computer with change ……or a C2 65inch……hmmmmm

But you can't carry your gaming computer or C2 65inch EVERYWHERE

    • Just got my second 49sexxy last week… No need for another monitor at the moment… Too busy searching for a damn dual 49" stand… :(

Thanks, but they are only singles… Need double… "just not my second…"

Want to have them vertically mounted on the same stand. Glass desk, so trying to find a floor standing device. However, looks like ill end up with a desk mounted and just cross my fingers its holds the 8@57@rds, likewise for the desk.

      • Bad monitor embarrassing to own

    • You would look good on the train with that.

      • Is that a dare?
The Sammy phones are DeX without the dock now, and the 49sexxy is DeX compatible… All i'll need to some volts and current to turn the screen on! Have a few K&M's here…
If there is enough in the kitty to warrant the task, i'll do it! :) Might need you to come hold the screen for me!

        • That would be awesome to see, i think we could rig up a sandwich board type mount for the screen on me.

    • $2k for a 65c2 lol what did I miss?

  • only if you cant get edu or epp offer I suppose

    • +1

Westpac doesnt seem to have the Samsung 15% +/- link in the CC requards this week… So see how it goes I guess..

  • +1

Yes for shopback cashback we can only hope that the cashback will be confirmed almost most of them are rejected so I always assume its zero and if it gets confirmed its a lottery.

  • what is the GST rate these days?

    • Yeah, you are correct.
I'd been using a excel sheet and when revising the above post a few moments ago, noticed id had the cell reference wrong.
Must have been updating at the time you posted. lol…

To many sheets and emails open at the same time.

      Net result is the same though - $1998 - $144 = $1854 odd…

  • +1

I just want to point out the GST calculation mistake.
If the total GST included cost is $1998, the excluded GST cost would be $1998 / 1.1 = $1818.36. The GST will be $1998 - $1818.36 = $179.64.
It's very easy to think of 10% of GST of cost, then calculate the 10% of the total cost for GST.

    So:

    Calculating (rounded):
Total cost of : $1998 order
    - GST: $179.64.
    Ex GST: $1818.36
    - 8% confirmed as tracked (just hope its approved) Shopback: $145.47

    $1998 - $145.47 = $1852.53

    • Correct - as per update. Must have been at the same time as your calc.
Had *0.1 in the cell. ha!
      Should have been /1.1
      100% correct.

End result is the same. :)

I went the JBHifi route since Samsung wanted to pay only $150 for my pixel 7 but JBHifi paid $450 + $300 bonus

    • what prompted to change from the pixel 7? I have a pixel 7 and even if i traded it in for the base S23 i'll still be out of pocket $700.

      • i believe its the battery life gains. its whats tempting me move from my S22+

        • Yes. The battery has been insanely good on my S23U. Almost as good as the iphone pro max.

          • @trantonz: How much SOT are you getting?

            • +1

@Pursue4: This was my achievement on S23 Ultra on Tuesday, I was pretty much watching the superbowl for most of the day. Nothing unusual about the day, Wifi, bluetooth on, WQHD+ Resolution and normal brightness. Over 9 hours screen on time is insanely good. It has been pretty consistent.

              • @SuperC: Yeah that's pretty amazing, keen to get mine!

              • @SuperC: Did you setup s23u as new phone or transferred data from old phone during setup? Its really good sot

            • @Pursue4: I'm on 37% battery with a 9h12m SOT.
This is iphone pro max battery level. The battery performance alone is worth the upgrade.

              • @trantonz: Did you setup s23u as new phone or transferred data from old phone during setup?

      • Also the crappy autorotate is so broken on pixel 7 pro.

      • +2

nothing wrong with the pixel 7. I was a note 8 - 9 user so I always wanted to have a note device.
There are a lot of smart features on pixel device such as live transcribe and call screen. I thought I would miss them so much until I found out that the S23U has the same feature, only under different names.

  • +1

I got the Samsung 23u 256gb for $1333 with the buds2 pro and samsung care. I used samsung edu and used the $200 bonus trade in for my s10 and the $250 voucher for the buds.

    • Trade in should be a $300 bonus at the moment? No?
Is it less on the EDU portal?

      • +1

        $200 on the edu store

    • Then im on same boat 😁. S23 ultra 256gb + tab 8 wifi and bonus care for 1k411, + $31 admin fees for not sending the traded phone.

      • Oh nice, so if I don't send my s10 (which was valued at $56 on the app) will I just be charged $31?

        • From my exp, the value must be under $50, it means old model phones, then the admin fees is $30 + value of the phone for not sending the phone back. Then other cases are $60 + value. I tested on my note 9 ($1) S10+ ($1, cracked screen) $30 admin, but fold4 $60.

So your case would be $56 + admin fees $30 or $60 (was $65 last year)

      • Can u share link? that's really good deal.

    • I have a smashed s10+ would that be worth much?

  • +1

Will wait for 50% off code in Classified section.

    • +1

ha! unlikely, unless one wants to wait a longggggggg time…
I'm waiting for @eastnercluture to accept my wager above! lol

  • $2000 for Samsung hmmmmm….
Samsung after service is pure if wiyhout SamsungCare

    • +4

Hard disagree. My galaxy watch malfunctioned after warranty had expired, and they still replaced it (and upgraded to the latest model) for free.

      • +1

I've got nothing but good things to say about Samsung support too.

    • I agree. I have had two warranty claims on Samsung phones. Last year on my S10+ it took more than 4 weeks after them telling me it would be 2-3 business days. To be fair, they eventually gave me a replacement S21+ given the delay. The screen just failed on that S21+, and again, it took 3 weeks to get the replacement after them telling me 1-2 business days. Absurdly poor service.

      • If Samsung only offers repacement after we need to jump thru hoops or go to the Fair Trading, it is not a genuine service and just imagine the time and trouble we have to go thru and witbout phone for a while.

        Avoid Samsung phone. Buyer beware.

  • +2

    Anyways - enough from me…
Couple of edits, but fixed up…

Over to you all. Seemed like a decent deal for today and OzB worthy… Worked out cheaper than anything else i could find in 30 mins.
As always - agree and take it, or dont agree and leave it (or get it somewhere else…)

  • -3

Even with this extra stuff, still way to close to Apple pricing. Need to take at least $500 off and keep all the goodies. Pixel 7 pro, even though it has a lessor processor, really beats this with its excellent software and cameras and for almost half the price (on special)

    • +4

Your opinion i guess, the myriad of reviews put this as the best phone overall at the moment.

    • According to initial reviews, the Pixel 7 Pro simply doesn't beat this in terms of performance, battery life, camera (incl video, portrait, zoom, etc).

      • Remember this hasn't been released to the general public yet (Release is 17th of February). All the units available would have been distributed through Samsung and with the amount of stories out in public with the byline, this trip was provided by Samsung, you need a pinch of salt added to these initial reports as there is also possible pressure from reviewers not to bad mouth Samsung too much or they could be left of the Demo list later.

        • a lot of people have received it early. i've been tracking user reports on Samsung reddit pages and its quite promising

  • Also a trade-in bonus up to $300 I think.

    • Yes, noted above. :)

    • How do I know which phone is eligible for trade In

  • Do you get cash back if you use the BONUSCARE code?

    • Trusting so. If not, discounts are similar (bouns code v 8%) give or take.

  • check in samsung website

  • Does this go with the 10 points per $1 Samsung Rewards as well ?
