Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Avanti 2.5kw Reverse Cycle Split System SRK25ZSA-W for $884 at wholesaleaircon.com.au with pick up available in Sydney and Melbourne warehouse. Seems to be free shipping in Sydney.

10% price beat at Bunnings brings it to $795.60 (+ applicable delivery, if any)
$100 cashback via redemption from MHIA current promo brings it down to $695.60.

The Bunnings clerk said they don't match wholesale prices, but the website clearly says "Direct To The Public At Wholesale Prices" in the bright red banner at the top of the website.

If you're like me and aren't in either Sydney or Melbourne, you can try what I did at my local Bunnings. Pull up the item on your phone, select New South Wales as your state and Sydney postcode 2000 to generate free shipping estimate.

Go back and change the state to the one you're in and clear the postcode or type in your own, tap somewhere empty on the screen so the postcode box isn't highlighted, then show the clerk the $0 shipping on the bottom.

YMMV, but it worked for me.

    Well done. How about installation? Do you using Bunnings air conditioning installation service and how much for the quote if back to back single storey?

    It is quite tough to have Bunnings beat price. They have lots of exclusive Terms when they say No.

      My quote for install was $865 from Bunnings directly. Local AC installers advertising on FB marketplace wanted around $750. I posted an ad on airtasker, managed to get someone to install and connect to electrical supply, fully licensed and insured for $500.

      Our install is single storey, brick veneer, back to back, floor mounted, straightforward install.

          They haven't come yet, but its going to be tapped off the closest power I'm going to assume. Now I think I should research this more. How bad is tapping off closest power?

            @NoApostrophePlurals: In most circumstances it's fine to tap off the power circuit, however, the AS3000 wiring rules says that manufactures specifications must be followed. I am yet to see a installation manual from any of the major brands that don't ask for a dedicated circuit.

            Worst case is that a manufacturer may refuse a warranty claim, it may also cause nuisance tripping.

            In short the risk is low and ultimately would fall back on the licenced contractor as latent conditions if problems arose.

      Yeah same. I have a normal avanti at the moment but gonna buy plus version for next 2 rooms. Worth the small premium i think.

          More energy efficient, slightly better looking, i think it might be a tad quieter and a motion sensor to make the auto modes work better. Not massive things id argue already owning a base model Avanti in our main bedroom but enough for me to bite.

      We have the Avanti Plus in our bedroom and are looking to go back a model to Avanti for other rooms.

      It has a lot more plastic moving parts and is quite noisy moving louvres and the front panel turning off and on - the plastic creaking would wake our kids.

      We have a Bronte in the living area with the same louvre design as the Avanti and it's night and day difference in terms of noise between the models (Bronte vs Avanti Plus). Just seems to be a simpler mechanism.

      Buy another one, refund the one you first bought no questions asked. They won't do a price beat refund. You're creating too much confusion for most of the staff. Why risk it.

    Clowns at Bunnings refused to price match because pickup "is USUALLY within 24 hours" and not always within 24 hours.

    Their policy is to only match same-day delivery or collection.

    This is the Kingsgrove branch.

    Ordered from WholesaleAircon, 2 x 2Kw units delivered 3 days later (ordered Friday evening arrived Tuesday morning) …organising install now that was ordered with them …..out of interest Bunnings came back a few days later to say they would Price Match WholesAircon price minus 10%……see below.
