I know it's not the most popular storage option, but it is what it is unfortunately. Very simple to use, have one myself. Convenient if moving between consoles too.

20% off the $730 price, however I believe the actual RRP is $700.

Lol, paid $240 for a 2TB for my PS5. I have an XSX for some reason, but won't be upgrading the storage for a long while by the look of it

    • I got the XSX recently too, but mostly only for Goldeneye multiplayer/Halo offline multiplayer.

I've been hoping for a further price drop on these for a long time. It's close to the 20% off that applies to the Microsoft AU eBay store when they have stock. Probably won't see it much cheaper. 🫤

Yeah there seems to be a stock problem around atm.

      • More like a competition problem.

Oof - Nearly the price of the Series X itself!

It was not long before Sony's strategy for memory expansion revealed its superiority. Hopefully the proprietary memory problem will be meaningfully hacked soon.

Yeah I think MS took the risk thinking that ma & pop would be confused with the NVME route, though maybe they aren't really passing on SSD savings too…. Hopefully MS does revise it one day, they are pretty pro consumer, relatively speaking, since the One launch debacle.

Rumour is that seagate have an exclusivity contract for now and when that expires we might see alternatives that bring the price down.

    • The company that is quick to point out Sony's hypocrisy with gaming exclusives doesn't see an issue with having an exclusive contract for storage expansions.

      • eh. I am not hurting for storage on my series X. I have a 1TB external (ozbarg fave crucial MX500) for old games and cold storage of new games I go back to frequently. I keep the X/S compatible games on the internal storage.

Im not exactly a gamer in the RGB, play all the games all the time sense of the word since I mostly play racing games and shooters and not much else, but Im not really feeling the pinch on storage. would it be nice to throw in an NVMe like on sony? Sure. but it isnt a killer feature that would make me throw away gamepass ultimate for 3yrs that cost me a dollar.

Consider the Samsung 980 Pro 2TB is only $256.08 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/757390), this one is still too expensive for what you get.

Definitely reassures me that I went down the right path, lol. I paid ~$300 for mine but it had the heatsink included (and still a much better deal than the expansion card).

  • Must be a joke

    Ridiculous price.

I'd recommend connecting an External Platter drive and just keep a copy of all your games on it, when you need space on the internal, erase from it and copy back locally if you need it (This is much less of a pain on Xbox compared to PS5)

These prices are just insane, the above is a workable solution for a lot of people if you're running out of room.

    • This is what I do, copy the games I don't play onto my external SSD.

      • +1

Aye, the transfer from ext to internal is swift enough. And with 4TB on my external drive; it's good as an archive

Just buy a second Series X…

  • What a scam, even with the discount!
