How do you still not have online ordering in 2023?

having a quote pending doesn't mean you have one secured.

Why? What is this backwards order quotation system. You can setup Shopify in less than 30 mins.

        • +2

They probably don't want to pay the merchant fees.

          • +9

@Charmoffensive: The money lost on lost orders from not having one setup will be higher than the fees.

            • +2

@Postal Dude: I'm not saying it's a good idea, just giving the other guy a reason why they might not do it.

            • +5

@Postal Dude: There is no money lost if all stock sells. Given they are selling 2nd hand premium products, it's likely that supply is not high in the first place, so it is difficult to expand even if they got more potential customers.

        • +2

Lose 3-5% to online portal. Then have to subscribe to all the addons to get full functionality.

Then try to workout postage to to each suburb then have to deal with the complaints.

Not worth it for most businesses.

Freight costs are literally 300-400% more than 3 years ago.

        • Doing it manually probably means each order actually gets allocated, whereas a system may fail. At least thats some old school thinking.

  • What price would delivery be to 3143?

    • +6

Their response via the online enquiry

Unfortunately you are out of our delivery range, your welcome to organise a courier to pick up from our showroom.

I'm not even 30 and I've known this reference since I was 10… live a little.

    • I'm keen to know this as well.

Not sure why OP didn't bother responding

  • How much is shipping to the CBD? Last time I looked it was a rip of 100$

  • +15

We still have over 100 in stock and want them gone before the year is done.

    No rush then ;)

  • +50

If you had an online store, I'd be interested.

Instead they have some sort of "add to enquiry" system, where you choose what you want and then they call you up and perform some sort of wallet and ethics biopsy before determining whether you meet their standards for being permitted to purchase from them.

    • +26

      "wallet and ethics biopsy" 😂😂

      • +3

is that where they remove a small amount of ethics, its not like i have a lot to spare

    • they sell all of them anyway. Why would they bother?!

      • -1

Cause they would get more money for their goods if they made items more accessible.

        • +2

If they sell all goods in the current system, they don’t have to pay Shopify merchant fees, for example, which can run as high as 3.75%.

    • +6

This is an insane take. You aren't owed an online store.

  • +39

I've been scared of these chairs for while, so it's great to hear this one's 'armless

  • +13

    Dammit. I have arms

    • +3

      • +1

Juggling running chainsaws ought to do the trick.

    • Dammit. I have a head, and no head rest.

  • +1

Why do you need a mod to add Pre-owned to the title?

    • +11

      No 'arm done.

    • They had to add the store in the title also. Might as well yeah?

  • +6

    Chairs don't include arms.

  • +3

Picked one up last time these guys were selling them. Highly recommend. Such a damn comfy and supportive chair! Was worth the long drive out there to pick one up at this price.

    • Thanks for the positive feedback much appreciated.

I picked one up late last year. On a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is brand new and 10 is "well used", the batch available for $275 were at about a 12 - I ended up buying a $500 one from a separate batch that to me looked a lot cleaner and better, about a 4 on my arbitrary 1-10 scale. I sat on about 40 of them prior to making that decision and am very happy with the one I purchased.

I transported it home upside down in the front passenger seat of my Mazda 3 which is not a huge car, so it should fit in most 'bigger than tiny' sedans. Lots of other people were loading them into their cars the same way.

Also some lady reversed her white van into the car next to mine. It was all going on that day.

Edit: just looked through the post history and was reminded that they put the batch I bought from on sale a few days later for $200 less. That kinda sucked :/ But I had honestly forgotten and my back is thanking me for looking after it.

    • +2

thanks for the detailed info.. exactly what i wanted to know as i was concerned with the level of 'usedness'

    • Domingo is on it, you need to go out and sit in them. My wife went and picked up two (can't remember if it was this vendor) and they are fine for her but i weight 83kg and there is too much stretch in the base for it to be comfortable. I ended up giving mine away and purchsed a new chair.

Keep in mind depending on your wfh and tax method you might be able to claim a chair on tax.

Again, right there in the post.

  • Why do we never have those sales in NSW?

    • +5

Maybe all the lockdowns in Melbourne resulted in more companies embracing WFH and closing offices?

    • +2

Because people in Sydney go into the office.

This is from NAB reducing their office space, 500 Collins was their building. Melbourne CBD is pretty dead during the day these days (especially Monday and Friday)

      • 500 Bourke*
It was very dated inside and they consolidated space. They had 500,700,800 Bourke pre covid

      • +2

They moved from 500 to a new building at 395 Bourke Street. 500 Bourke was by all accounts a well outdated dump. NAB have left their former flagship at 800 Bourke now and as below they have 700 and the new 395 buildings. Source SO works for NAB and I work near 800 Bourke.

SO also says they are "really old"

Is it possible to grab a low fart-count chair?

Oh wait, pickup only… ( Even at 0-farts it would cost more in petrol for me to drive down and then back… what a shame :(

    • +7

One wet one and it’s all over

      • +1

Wait for the next sale on the BIssell SpotClean from SuperCheap!

    • +1

First place I ever sat on a Mirra!

  • +2

where can we buy the armrests?

  • +1

500 Bourke Street means removed from the NAB's previous headquarters.

  • +5

i dont understand the process. So we put in an enquiry and wait for someone to call us?

    • -1

Yes all will be responded within 30 mins, or your welcome to come and collect instore.

    • +8

i dont understand the process. So we put in an enquiry and wait for someone to call us?

Think of it as a little trip down memory lane of how the world used to work before the Internet 🤣

  • +4

I was pretty underwhelmed with my Mirra. Went back to my standard office chair. I found these extremely heavy and bulky and I prefer my standard chair. Horses for courses.

Also, a word of warning. Make sure the foam insert under the thighs is in good condition. Definelty check this piece if looking in person. Without this the chair cuts into the thighs. The foam deteriates and crumbles away with time and the chair is extremely uncomfortable if this piece isn't doing its job. Pretty expensive to replace as well.

    • +5

You can buy replacements off AliExpress for super cheap. I replaced the foam in my Aeron for $10 and it’s as good as new. No different from the ‘original’.

      • +3

Dang. I hadn't checked AliExpress before on-selling the chair. Good for others to know.

        • -1

Sounds like your mesh was also a problem. Was probably a fatty’s chair.

  • +24

No online ordering, no photo of what I'm getting, no actual delivery service. This is basically a glorified garage sale with extra steps.

  • 150kg average user weight

    How did you verify that?

    • -1

Dave from IT tried it out

    • +15

      They weighed jv.

      • +1

HAHA ahahahahahaha - that made me laugh tbh!

Best investment I did in my life health, Secretlab.

    • +1

A better investment, a Herman Miller.

  • Organise the courier for us to another state, happy to pay the price.

Organise the courier for us to another state, happy to pay the price.

You need to do this yourself, as per the post. They will sell out to locals so don't need the hassle arranging for postage interstate.

  • Have bought 2 chairs, a solid wood office cabinet and a underdesk pedestal from them worth $600+. One was a Humanscale Freedom Task Chair and 2nd was Ergohuman v1
Both of them are great chairs. Recommend their store!

    • Thanks very much for your positive feedback much appreciated.

  • +5

    On the website:

“All items are sold as seen - once the item has been picked up no returns will be accepted (inspection is recommended).”

But a few lines down, it also says:

“All chairs are second-hand, they may have marks, scratches present, if you are not happy with the quality of your purchase in the first 48 hours, we can organize a collection and refund.”

    Could you please clarify?

  • Getting car roadworthied Wednesday next week. If there's any left, I'll grab one a week or two after that.. 😅

  • the stuff on the website is hardly a bargain "Silver Tall Tambour - no keys provided" $400!!

    • Please note we are not promoting Tambours in this ad, only Mirra1. Our prices are always at least 50% off new prices.

  • +2

A similar model is extremely dangerous. Don't worry bout this one though, it's 'armless.

    • +2

      Wheely good

    • It used to be, but then it had a good look at itself in the mirra and changed its ways.

  • Can't believe people are buying these. Think of all the office butt-juice from Greg in accounting that's on this chair.

  • Any suggestions for courier companies that'll get an unpackaged chair from Melbourne to Sydney?
