Ooh, they released a game based on the hit tv show!

    • +10

      Found the JBHifi staff

    • haha classic!

  • +3

Anyone else going back to project zomboid because of tlou?

    • I haven't played that in yonks, that was a creepy game.

      • it's recently seen quite a resurgence on steam stats charts.

planning to go back to it and see whats changed in 3-4 years since i last played after i finish sw: fallen order. Apparently plays well on steam deck.

    • +1

I'm still waiting for B42 because they are supposed to be massively fleshing out the game with more long term survival options outside of just scavenging things.

    • +2

thats unfortunate you out of the club and banished to xbox hell.

      • +1

I don't have that either. Funny i got downvoted for being poor.

        • +1

          That will teach you!

        • I can't afford golf stream jet aircraft……..

  • +5

I remember this was going at $12 at some point. Pretty good game when playing as Ellie….torturous when playing as Abby

    • Was the PS5 remake of the first game ever on sale?

      • +2

It's been $94 on PS store a couple of times. Physical would be your best bet.

      • I bought it for $69 from big w, so yes

    • +24

Loved all of it. Great story and some of the most immersive game design and setting ever.
Didn't understand the Abby backlash much myself, thought it all worked really well in understanding the perspectives. Each to their own though!

      • +14

I just finished this game on the weekend. Agreed.

        I absolutely loved it.

I can tell when a game truly blows me away. I kinda don’t feel like playing video games for a while because nothing can compare.

The only other games to do this for me were TLOUS and RDRII

      • +4

Yeah I had no idea of the backlash as I only started TLOU after TLOU2 had been released. Both stories and games were top-notch - the best gaming I've ever experienced.

    • Is Abby the Raiden of Last of Ys?

      • +8

That’s a decent analogy, and MGS2 was cited by the creator as being an inspiration for TLOU2. Mainly in that expectations are subverted and instead of what could have been a run of the mill sequel, you play as Abby who looks at the game world, and existing characters, from another perspective. Similar to how playing as Raiden makes you look at Snake differently, but in TLOU it pits the characters against each other.

When this fact was leaked before the game’s release, and got mixed up - very unfairly - with false information and culture wars propaganda, it blew up into something quite ridiculous. But for what it’s worth, the game achieves something quite special as far as what storytelling in this medium is capable of. And it really hits emotional notes that games don’t often do, mainly because it takes a lot of risks to get there and knows that the player will feel conflicted.

      • +1

Raiden is way more likeable than that living brick

        • Raiden’s hair also swishing around at his sudden but delicate momentum added that much likable softness to his persona - IMO

    • +1

Yeah back in November 2022 the PS4 version was $12 through Amazon. It's been in my pile of shame for a while now… think it's time I replay both games.

    • +5

Doggie style Abby, coming soon to your stream box!

      • +3

Yeah, I enjoyed the game, but really didn't need to see the bumming on the boat 😄

    • Why do you say that? Just weren't interested in progressing her story? I enjoyed the whole thing.

    • +1

$12 on Amazon and Big W, just 2 months ago - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/746328 and a month before that too.

I much prefer a cheaper 2 disc physical copy as it's a large download.

    • +2

Nah it was amazing playing as Abby, you get to fight Ellie and Ellie is such as bad ass boss. I died so many times on the hardest difficulty.

  • Spoilers!

  • -5

    Enjoy the unskippable pegging cutscene!

    • +6

Nice to know clotheslines still exist in a zombie apocalypse.

    • +2

There's no pegging scene in the game.

  • +3

Wish Part 1 would get around this price, been hanging out to experience the upgraded version but cannot really justify the ridiculous prices that Sony has been throwing on their PS5 first party releases.

  • +11

The physical disc version has been $12 multiple times. Probably better to wait for it to go on sale again.

  • +4

Please note it’s now called Türkiye.

  • +2

Pretty sure I bought it for around $10 a couple months ago, I'd wait it out for a better deal if you don't already have it.

  • +5

The game is a technical masterpiece, no doubt. Especially considering the fact how good it looks and runs even on base-level PS4 hardware. The gameplay loop is addictive as ever, graphics and animations are an absolute stunner. It’s best enjoyed on PS5 at a rock-solid 60 fps.

The story is somewhat contentious and may disappoint people that loved the first game. It’s essentially a very brutal revenge plot without an optimistic outlook, or any real purpose for that matter. I found it easy to sympathise with Joel in part one and found it interesting to think about the ethics of his actions. The same cannot be said of a bloodthirsty, uber-brutal Ellie in part two.

But frankly you can also just ignore the story and still enjoy the game. Just indulge in the oh-so satisfying mechanics of sneaking up on enemies and stealth-killing them, raiding eerie abandoned buildings, upgrading your gear etc.

    • +4

Where is the spoilers alert warning?

      • +1

        Where’s the spoiler?

        • Probably expected the game to be a 2D puzzle Tetris kind of game.

  • -1

Sad neither this nor part 1 ever made it to PC

    Maybe one day……

    • +7

Part 1 is coming to PC on March 3rd.

      • +1

Got pushed back a week or two ago, now the 28th of March

        • -1

          Nice.
I will finally get to play it after all these years

    • +2

Part 1 sort of did. You can play the PS3 version on PC with the RPCS3 emulator. Looks way worse than the PS5 remake though. And its probably not legal either.

  • +13

how in gods name did this get 50 upvotes, it has been $12 for disc version.

    • +1

Not needing to insert the disc is attractive to some people, but Sony's system is dumb. The digital version is technically a different version to the disc version so still need to download the whole game 1 more time and zap the physical disc version (for those who have/had the disc version).

      • +2

I won't argue that the disc physical system is not now redundant, but it does mean you can lend and trade games. The disc version should be valued higher, especially for collectors.

        • The digital version means you can have two people playing the game at the same time on two different consoles with one singular costs.

    • That digital tax and queue the fanbois who saved valuable seconds not having to change discs

    • Upvotes mean people like the product on ozbargain

Nothing to do with the quality of the deal

You're also not allowed to downvote unless it's a scam

      • You're also not allowed to downvote unless it's a scam

Lol. That’s not how it works at all.

  • Is the PS5 version worth it for the next gen graphics?

    • +2

Isn't PS5 "current gen". And that would make the PS4 version "last gen". No?

      • Depends on the contecxt. Relatively speaking, the ps5 graphics vs the ps4 graphics are indeed "next gen" graphics, and that's how the question was phrased.

    • There is no PS5 version of Part 2.

Do you mean the Part 1 remake? Still probably not while it's so expensive.

      • They patched PS5 support into the PS4 version of part 2. This will give you 60 fps support, but nothing else. The graphics don’t need it though - TLOU2 looks better than all PS5 titles to date.

  • -6

No deal. This was $12 before.

    • +1

Is it currently? Didn’t think so.

      • +2

        No deal is no deal.

If it makes you happy just neg and move on. I don't give a

        • -1

You didn’t answer my question. Enjoy the revoked neg vote :)

    • That was $12.00 for the physical disc version, as per OPs post with source, this is the cheapest the digital version has been.

As for disc version, I guess you have the ability to travel back in time to save $2.37.

      • ** … to save $25.16

        • +2

To save $2.37 with PS Plus, snuke is correct. Some only have a digital PS5 console so will find value in this deal. The deal posted is for the digital version not a physical, so not a like-for-like price comparison.

  • +3

    PSVR 2 in 3 days!!! :D
wish this game was in VR :D

    • -1

To play what games? The PSVR2 launch lineup is very sparse.

      • +3

GT7, RE Village & No Mans Sky are all free upgrades which by themselves should more than see me through the first half of the year. Plenty of other games also announced for the launch window, a quick Google would show you as much.

        • don't for get job simulator!!

    • Any way to buy that cheap?

  • -6

Too bad the game story is an utter disappointment and a disgrace compared to the first game.

  • +2

it's been as low as $12 and regularly $20 physical

    https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B07Y9ZSV1G?context=se…

    • +4

When has it been $12 for a digital copy which is what OP is saying and showing through their link and title.

Physical yes for $12, but OPs link is for the digital copy. They aren't lying.

      • -1

Then say it's digital in the header. It's misleading

        • +2

It’s really not misleading in the slightest. The title/header says PlayStation Store, which is a digital store. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out a digital store only sells digital copies of games.

  • -3

As mentioned in 10000x comments it's definitely not a deal

    • +2

Disagree - I was waiting for this and pounced - by far the cheapest I've seen it since the show became popular.

  • So is there a way to pay for games on Turkish accs now that Sony have wised up to the Wise ccs?

  • +1

I sold my old copy and re-purchased TLOU2 for $12 @ JB, but $10 was from a JB Perks voucher, so $2 out of pocket.
Unless Sony announced people will get free upgrade to the PS5 version when Factions is released, it is best not to overspend on this game now.

  • +1

I know there's a lot of conjecture with this game and people will pretend there's no issues with it but there's some very real issues. This game caters to the crowd who like long games. If you're into long games then that's your decision. But this game is really long. Not Assassin's Creed long, but still long.

    • +1

Yeah I found it dragged on, probably could have been a couple hours shorter

    • +5

But unlike Assassins Creed, you play through a single story which doesn’t really drop the ball. So I don’t think it’s fair to equate it to some dragged out open world game with boring side quests.

  • +2

    Anyone for golf?

    • +1

Rumour says in season 2 of the tv series they would change a tiny detail abit, that involves cricket bat instead….

      • It was a very silly decision for the storyline in the game, it'll be just as silly in the TV show.

Retconning the man to be an out and out nasty white male villain is absolutely crazy and I'm absolutely positive a 3rd game will not sell as many copies as the second due to this baffling choice

        • So the last two games were smash hits and critically acclaimed as two of the greatest games of all time, and then the first one became a TV series that's also garnered rave reviews, but you're confident - nay, absolutely positive - the next one won't be a similar hit because you're "baffled"

          OK

    • FOUR!!!

  • +1

    Part 1 is great
I wasn’t able to play through part 2, I stopped rather early. If you get invested in the characters and storyline in part 1 then you’ll possibly be the same. Rather pretend this doesn’t exist and story ended after part 1. Very unfortunate

    • Incredibly strange design decision, the game in iitself is almost just a troll really. It's a good one though.

      • Whichever goon downvoted, come back in 8 weeks and see what happens. They'll be $190 AUD shipped.
