Bought this a couple of months ago, great shave, never going back to cartridges. One thing to consider with this model is that if you are left handed, it kind of tends to slip from your hand as the design on the handle is at an angle best suited for right handed people.

great shave, never going back to cartridges.

I have one too. Doesn't shave as close as good quality cartridges.

        What cartridges do you recommend?

I use the Aldi Prince Calibre 6 system/cartridges - best shave I have ever experienced. I still haven't forgiven Gillette for attempting to shame me for being a man & haven't spent a dollar with them since.

@Drewbo: Agreed, also still nothing spent on them since here.

@Drewbo: Yeah, never buying Gillette again.

      • Look like 8ppls aren't hairy as jv.

Need to get a a left handed cutlery and left handed ruler as well.

  • Never tried these, really need some genuine opinions.

    • +2

Switched to one of these from electric a few months ago and I've got to say it's been a good experience. Takes longer sure but I get a much closer shave and no in-growns. I can shave the night before and be fine all the next day.

For the full experience you'll want to get a shaving brush and a shaving soap (Proraso is good). But tbh when pressed for time I do use Gillette shaving foam and it works well enough.

Best advice I can give is check out some YouTube vids from Geofatboy and don't use pressure against the skin! Just let it glide, it will cut as it goes.

      • Thanks for the input, how often do you have to change the blade and is there anything to sharpen the blade ? Thx 😊

        • +2

As they say, your mileage may vary, it depends on your hair etc. Personally I change the blade every 4 shaves, I could get more but it's not worth it. Blades are about 10-15 cents each when bought in bulk; sharpening just isn't worth your time, also you'd take off all of the coating and probably make it rougher.

    • I use it to shave my neckbeard and it works wonders. Bought it a few weeks ago with the Woolworths sale and I can never go back to the old cartridge style razors for the neck.

    • I bought this a few weeks ago from the $15 woolies special using the included blades feels a lot nicer than cartridges with shaving cream.

I used a shaving soap with this and quite happy

  • Modern gel is shit with double edges. I find the best shaves with creams, even the Nivea one in the can gives excellent results.

The best a ma'am can get.

  • Does it work on those with fine hairs and only have much of a stub than a beard?
