I think if he returns it he will get the amount on his Apple Balance. However Cheddar is considering payment with Apple Balance as Payment with gift cards -> no cashback will be tracked as it's written in their T&C.
Not able to use my Apple Account Balance is the deal breaker for me

Last time I checked with their Customer support and this is the answer I got:

We have confirmed with the sales team and they have advised us that if your Apple account balance is used to complete the purchase cashback would be ineligible at this time."

I always use apple balance collected from gift cards bought from woolies on their sale, so if you can't use apple balance then cash rewards still a little better.
although.. if you are using your own credit card, then this is a much better deal than CR.
Mods, you might want to add this detail under the post otherwise there will be lots of irate customers when they find out!
If you return, you get the balance back how you paid.
@nightelves: If you paid by credit card yeah. I've returned plenty of stuff with Apple, their 14 day no questions asked return policy is great.
@theguyrules: So therefore we can't rule out the fact that if they purchased with either a credit card or cash then refunding and purchasing again via Cheddar would entitled them to cashback.

Nope - M2+ 14" and 16" Macbook Pro's no dealio sadly. Anyone know how long usually it takes after a launch before new products become eligible for cashback?
The 14" & 16" MacBook Pro were eligible for cashback last week, though it was only 2% cashback then. They probably just added it to the exclusion list with this boosted 12% rate.
Dunno when new products get removed from the exclusions once they're added. This is probably set by Apple, but I get the feeling it's anywhere from 6-12 months depending on the popularity of the product.

Based on the first bullet point the "MacBook Pro (M2)" is eligible, but based on the third one they are not "MacBook 14-inch & 16-inch".
I found this a bit misleading
so only macbook pro m2 13 inch included.

Remember a couple of years ago I used a cashback website named "Plastiq.it" AKA Jamjar. The business closed down and many people including me were never paid the APPROVED cashback. This makes me reluctant to use any new cashback website.

I have enquired with the sales team and they have advised that the Macbook Pro 14 and 16 inches will be eligible for cashback as they contain the M2. I further clarified with them that the M2 Pro is in these and they have confirmed that this should still be eligible.

Total goes from $2,199 to $1,490. Cheddar support confirmed on email that using Apple account balance still qualifies for cashback.

If cashback is ineligible for giftcard payments, and then the actual cash reward rate which is 10.8% after taking into account of GST wont be outcompeting the use of discounted giftcards from Coles/WWS promotion too much (which is 10% or 15% sometimes).

Does anyone know how tracking is done on the MacBook pros with free AirPods? I got a tracking email for $20 for the value (minus tax) of $200 which I assume is for the AirPods but nothing yet for the laptop. Is tracking for the laptop done separately?
