Spotify Premium: Individual TRY₺30 Per Month (~$2.40), Family TRY₺50 Per Month (~$4.00) (Android and VPN Required) @ Spotify

2781

I will start by apologising for the awful title and description - it's been a while hahah.

ANDROID WORKS - took me 1 to 2 minutes total to sign up.
Apple I don't know if there's a method - could android vm or use someone elses phone as a one off?

Roughly a year ago Spotify and Google play store made a press release stating that they were going to be trialing Google Pay and Merchant Pay. I checked it regularly and within the last week or two it has finally been added!

METHOD:

Pre-existing spotify account:
I Smell Pennies @OB

New/ Free Accounts

Blue Stacks (PC) - IOS alternative/ android back up method:
Iangh @OB
Android:

  1. Set up a Google Play account with a Turkish payment profile - after looking to save myself some effort this deal by alcheron's comment explains it pretty well - thanks SuBw00FeR for helping me find the correct one
  2. Download and/or open Spotify
  3. Go to the get premium tab on the bottom right of the home screen
  4. Select any plan
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the payment where it says your country
  6. Change country to Türkiye
  7. Click the change plan key (had one account have issues signing up which this solved)
  8. Select the plan you want
  9. Click Google Pay
  10. Select your Turkish payment profile
  11. Select/ enter the card you want to use

To add family members:

  1. On the head account go to: https://www.spotify.com/tr-tr/account/family/ and get the link
  2. Follow that link on the child account, enter in the same address as is on the head account (I used an NZ one and it worked, just make sure they are the same)
  3. I experienced issues adding one account, it was saying it was from a different account to the head - if you get this issue on their account go to: https://www.spotify.com/tr-tr/account/profile/ and check what country is listed. If it is New Zealand/Aus/anywhere other than turkey get them to connect via turkish VPN (I used PIA) and it'll give them the option to change it to Turkey
  4. They can then follow the same family link and use the same address as the head account and it should work now

And you're now sorted with what I believe is the cheapest Spotify Premium price currently available.

This method is imo less effort, cheaper, and doesn't need to be renewed, like the previously available cheap Spotify option posted on OzBargain

Any issues feel free to comment and hopefully we can troubleshoot it.

Thanks to Wakrak for formating help

      • Tried that as well.

        • Charge your turkey address on spotify, find the easy one then copy paste to family member. I had the same problem too b4.

          • @Kooratz: Tried 4 different addresses including the real address. Just can't get it working somehow.

            • @hotwinter: It worked with any address now after stopped trying for 4 days. Strange.

              • @hotwinter: @hotwinter So you used your real home address when Spotify asked you to confirm that for the Family Plan? Was that with the VPN turned on or off?

                • @jollster101: I've tried all the combinations at the time. Somehow it just worked after I lefted for a few days.

  • @Rowjo - could you add the tag "Geo-Pricing" to this post too? That way it'll help when we search for geo-pricing deals

or mods if you read this and can help? (maybe it's just me but I check that geo-pricing tag every so often for great deals like these etc.)

Got it to work with this advise https://www.cheapies.nz/node/39233#comment-169212 - (check last comment) google play account had to note "cannot change unless changing country". I used vpn.lat and it recognised the change of country. I had no issue with google pay than.

    • +1 manage to get work with this vpn thank you

  • Hi all,

I was getting this error message over and over again "Your transaction cannot be completed. To continue this transaction use a different payment instrument or contact us. Learn more"

I contacted google support, and they verified my credit card and asked me to wait 48 hours before trying again. I did and the payment went through.

Hope it works for you all. Good luck!!

    • -1

I've followed what you mentioned and inquired through chat aswell. Advised they'll get back to me via email within 24-48 hours, was this the case with you aswell?

    • -1

Why contact Google? You want them to crackdown on people utilising this loophole?

      • +1

its not a Google Loophole, one is paying Spotify hence a Spotify loophole.

        • Nevertheless. It might spoil it for everyone because some people use it for Google One and YouTube.

    • Hey mate - how did you go about setting up your Turkey Account? i.e. did you use Turkey or Australian address when you entered in your CC details? I created a Turkey payment profile with fake address and used my actual address when providing CC details. Google asks me to verify with a photo of the CC and Government ID which I have done multiple occasions, but they keep coming back saying cannot verify…

      • has to be Turkey address for both

        • Thanks mate - how do I get around them asking me for proof of address then when I’m requested to verify my payment information? They’ll require a photo of the CC + Government Issued Photo Id which will be my license which has my NsW address :(

  • -1

I don't think you should be contacting support as what your doing violating terms and conditions, you will wreck it for everyone. Your not even meant to do what your trying to do..the fact your even try to msg Google support is crazy…….

  • +4

Guys, I understand your concerns however what @cheaplah did was quite smart. All Google did was verify the bank card. They don’t know what your account is about to do or whether you’re about to sub to Spotify etc.

The error message is not Spotify specific, it’s a generic Google error message. You could genuinely be subscribing legitimately to ANYTHING via Google Pay and the same error could pop up, and Google just wants to help.

  • Just thought I'd share, after trying and failing to setup my account the past couple of days.. I sent over my details to a friend in India and was able to sign up for a FULL 12mth subscription for Rs299 lol :) . If you have friends or family - try it and hope the promo works for you too.

  • I am trying to click on Google Play in the payment section and then Spotify says subscription not available in this google play country

    • Change your vpn if you haven't that is what all the comments came to as the solution

    • Also remove from family account if any Google accounts are tied to Australia

  • Once we got this set up and listening without VPN, will we get the message that Spotify can be used only for 14 days while abroad? Or that doesn't apply to Premium?

    • +1

Haven't personally had any issues and noone has mentioned yet either :)

  • I'm stuck! I have:
    * Android phone signed-in with my Google account that has a Turkey profile (same one I used for Disney+)
    * Confirmed Spotify subscription has lapsed, and country is set to Turkey
    * I then connect to Turkey VPN on my phone using NordVPN (also tried VPN.lat)
    * When I select "Google Play" from the Premium tab, it prompts me to verify my password to confirm the transaction, but then errors with "Your transaction can't be completed. To continue the transaction, secure your account"

Any ideas? I've confirmed everything is set to Turkey and it's the only payment profile on the account and phone.

Edit: rebooting the phone fixed it!

  • Tried everything but still not working, keep getting the error "Google Play purchases are not supported in your country". I have (on Android phone):

    • New google account with Turkish payment profile
    • New Spotify account with location set to Turkey
    • Google Play location set to Turkey
    • Tried a different VPN such as those suggested above?

      • I've just tried with a different VPN and I can get to the payment page but when I hit subscribe I get 'Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction, use a different payment instrument or contact us.'. Tried Visa debit, Mastercard debit and 28 degrees.

        • Which VPN are you using? This may sound silly but i think the others solution to this was trying different vpns as it's spotify picking up you aren't turkish ans therefore shouldnt have spotify premium :)

          • @Rowjo: I used PIA and confirmed that it was in Istanbul, I'll try another when I have time today

            • @dlhng: Also i see above you didnt mention this, so just checking, is spotify installed on your turkey google play account (if you had it already installed will need to uninstall and reinstall)

              • @Rowjo: Yes I did, uninstalled and installed multiple times

  • Thanks, must choose the Google Turkey account in Google Play, after clicking Premium on the bottom of the app, click on the first "try Premium" of the next page as only this will lead to you the Google Pay page, all other Premium links will lead you to a credit card payment page. Hope this is clear.

Thanks @Rowjo,I managed to get this to work over the weekend. It did help that I already had an existing Google Turkey account by following @I Smell Pennies detailed instructions here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/751330

For iOS & macOS (intel)/PC users, these are the steps that I followed:
    1. Set up a Google account with a Turkish payment profile (as mentioned, I followed the steps in the Google One deal in the link above. I'm using a Bankwest Zero Platinum CC to pay for the Google One deal).
    2. Installed Bluestacks on my Macbook. I wasn’t able to install Bluestacks on my M1 Macbook so I used an old intel Macbook. Alternatively, install Bluestacks on your PC.
    3. Once Bluestacks is installed, run Bluestacks and login using your Google Turkey account.
    4. In Bluestacks, download Spotify from the Google Play store.
    5. Open Spotify and click on “Continue with Google”. Create a new Spotify account using your Google Turkey profile. I had my Surfshark (Turkey) VPN turned on however Spotify wouldn’t let me create a new account while running the VPN so I had to switch it off before I could create a new Spotify account.
    6. You’ll be sent a verification email from Spotify to confirm your account.
    7. Once you’ve clicked on the “Confirm your account” button in the Spotify email, turn on your VPN (Turkey location) and double check that you’re in Turkey (e.g google search “what is my IP location”)
    8. Go back to the Spotify app that you’re running in Bluestacks and login to your new Spotify account.
    9. Go to the Get Premium tab.
    10. Click on the Spotify plan that you want to purchase.
    11. The next page that it takes you will be in Turkish, however there should be a hyperlinked text all the way at the very bottom of the page that allows you to change your country to Turkey.
    12. Click on Google Pay
    13. As I already had a Google Pay Turkish profile setup from the Google One deal (see step 1 above) my saved credit card details was able to be selected as the payment option for this Spotify deal.
    14. Proceed to payment.
    15. Once you’ve received the "Google Play Order Receipt" email which outlines your Spotify Turkey subscription, turn off your VPN, close the Spotify tab in Bluestacks etc.
    16. And that’s it. I logged into my new Spotify (Turkey) account on my iPhone, iPad, MBA as normal without any issues.

Long time lurker and rarely post but I hope the above instructions helps someone else in the future. Big thanks to @Rowjo and @I Smell Pennies for finding these types of deals.

  • Cheap way to get Deezer from Turkey, https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/deezer-12-months-subscripti…. Annual $16.5 for single. Haven't tried it myself.

  • I need some advice and help. Im trying to do this with a new spotify account. I have deleted my australian gmail acxount from my phone. But when i create a new spotify account and go to premium, there is no google pay option. No vpn is turned on. I am assuming i am logged into my turkey google account. Please can someone provide some guidance

  • Ok, so I've managed to login with Turkish location.
I've managed to find pay with google play.
But when I press 'Google p=Play ile devam et',
it keeps on saying 'subscription not available - update your country in google play settings or go back and choose spotify as your billing option'
I checked multiple times before proceeding that my google play account was in fact in Turkiye..
How do I bypass this situation?
    HELP anyone??? Cheers..

    • It will be your VPN. What worked for me was using VPN.lat as per the comments by Harebrainedkiwi at cheapies.nz

      • I'm using Nord VPN locations set as Turkey #51.

      • And I also tried to reboot multiple times and erasing Spotify and re installing the app twice..

        • as the link says, check your ip by going to https://browserleaks.com/ip and verify that it is connected to Turkey. When I changed to VPN.lat as per the link it finally worked.

          • @gambino: yes I did went into browserleaks and checked everything that I was connected to Turkey even using NordVPN.. i followed every step but still didn't work…..

  • ACCOUNT DELETED - BE CAREFUL. I have a problem with the family account. I subscribed to it fine, but had issues putting my sister on it as it kept saying she doesn't have the same address. I logged into her account through my phone, vpned, changed her country to turkey and then went to the link listed and it finally joined the family premium. About 6 hours later, her music stopped (she listens to music to help her sleep) and her account auto deleted… Anyone had this issue? She's on iphone.

  • Is there an android app that has free Spotify?

  • Ok so after much to and fro, I have managed to get what I think is a successful outcome having added a brand new Wise card to a spare Google account that I had. Initially I got the Transaction Declined error from within Spotify but I did what someone else mentioned and turned my VPN off just before hitting submit and I think it went through.

From what I gather I am now on the Family Plan and expect that the Wise card will be billed 49.95 TL once the first month is done.

So, the question I have now is how do I add my kids accounts to the family plan? I know the process from when I set them up originally with a full paying Australian subscription, but I don't know if I need to do anything different this time around. The plan is to use their existing accounts but I don't know if that will work. Will Spotify recognise that these accounts have been used previously with a different payment option?

Creating new accounts could be a bit of a pain for the sole reason of the teenage daughter's playlists and who she shares her current profile with.

    Any pointers gratefully received.

    • Rowjo posted the steps in the original post.

      • Will Spotify recognise that these existing child accounts are already part of an Australian Premium plan? I cancelled the existing plan but it's still within the month that I paid for.

I would have thought that their systems would pick up on that.

        • What happened after you followed the steps Rowjo posted in the original post?

          • @Typical16-bitEnjoyer: Nothing as I haven't done it. I wanted to see if others had actually experienced an issue from a similar use case. It's great that you say follow the steps that Rowjo posted but as you have experienced, you followed that method but didn't manage to get it to work as expected.

You did manage to get your 12 month family plan which is a result.

On the other hand I did manage to get it working after some messing around but there are a lot of others who have been unsuccessful.

So before I (potentially) feel the wrath of the family in the event that accounts got blocked, terminated, I thought I would gather some detail.

  • Man this method is as painful as everyone is saying. I've done practically everything and gone from the errors everyone above has mentioned, to Google asking me for CVC code and then an error message. Giving up for tonight.

EDIT: Ok it finally worked. I could only subscribe to the 12 month prepaid family plan. All the month to month individual/family plan options give me transaction unsuccessful or google pay error. Maybe this might help others.

    • hey mate - how do u sign up to 12 month prepaid family plan? I can't see it as an option in Spotify

    • 12 month family plan where?

  • Ok, I've had hell of a time trying to get this going,

Initially setup a Turkish Gmail account #1 with VPN Unlimited (found that this VPN is blocked by spotify)
Added my 28 Degress mastercard, and removed, re-add then it was blocked.
Spotify no go under bluestacks as VPN was blocked

Setup Turkish Gmail account #2 - this time with NordVPN
Added Payment profiles of different credit cards, including Wise credit cards which is latest
Looked for Turkey addresses and added
Clean bluestacks build with VPN enabled
Setup Google Play with turkish account
    Spotify with Turkish region set
Selected premium account in Spotify went to payment selected Google Play
And that is when it throws up an error and payment does not go through. (I'll find the error and paste it).

  • +1

OK I finally got it working. These were my steps

    1. Set up Turkish Gmail account with country and address using VPN. I added my CBA credit card as payment profile.
    2. Log into Spotify with VPN and change country to Turkey
    3. Turn on VPN and open Spotify and go through the premium and sign up.
    4. Select Google Pay and don't press the button.
    5. Disconnect VPN.
    6. Press the button and then go through the steps to verify account etc
    7. Profit
    • Did you sign up to individual or family? Sounds like only family account work…

      • Individual

    • FINALLY, this worked for me. Cheers!

  • After numerous tries over the course of the last month, I've finally succeeded. Here's what I did. I'm not sure whether the use/non-use of VPN at the various steps helped, but it's what worked for me anyway.

    • Set up a new Turkish Google account and just used a Turkish address generator to input my address (Used VPN - this was done end Feb)
    • Added AU Mastercard to it (Used VPN)
    • Changed Spotify country to Turkey (using VPN)
    • Downloaded Spotify from using the Turkish Google Play account (not on VPN)
    • Signed in with regular Spotify account on mobile (not on VPN)
    • Clicked "Premium" on the bottom bar in mobile, and selected my plan (not on VPN)
    • Clicked the Google Play icon for payment (not on VPN)

The final step was where I usually got stuck, as Google Play option simply was not appearing. No idea why it finally appeared today.

VPNs used: I switched between Windscribe and CyberGhost.

  • +1

Took some effort but got there in the end, Thanks Op!

  • I've added a Turkish payment profile onto a spare google account and now will create a new Spotify account.
But does it matter if I "Sign up with Google" or "Sign up with your email address"? Will the GPay option appear in the Spotify app for both methods?

  • Doesn't seem to work for me, and honestly the hassle is not worth the money at this point.

    1. Created a Google Account through a VPN, with a Turkish payment profile linked to my Australian debit card.
    2. Waited for Spotify premium account to lapse back to free. Logged into Spotify through a VPN, change location to Turkey.
    3. Download and installed Bluestacks. Installed VPN on Bluestacks.
    4. Open Spotify on Bluestacks, payment currency in Turkish Lira, and language options all in Turkish.
    5. Attempt to click pay with Google Play, but returns error "Google Play purchases are not supported in your country. Unfortunately you will not be able to complete purchases.

Error possibly fromGoogle cracking down on new payment profiles or Bluestack/Bluestack's Spotify connected to Australian network prior to VPN installation.

    • +1

hey @BruvMeister - I have been battling this for a couple weeks now and finally got it working for me today.
Your steps look OK and similar to mine… I don't have an Android phone so am just using Bluestacks..
      Key items to note:
      1. only 1 account logged in to phone/bluestacks. I initially used a brand new google account, but when I saw it working I changed everything back to using my old/existing google account. I note that my personal info is all real - Australian address and AU payments (I have both a citibank debit and citibank credit card linked - both with AU addresses).
      2. Google profile needs to have a turkey payment profile
      3. Spotify account needs country set to 'turkey' - use VPN to change country
      4. Now - the critical part that messed me up for so long… connect VPN and check that its working. Do this by going in to phone/bluestacks - open Play store, settings, general, account, and scroll down to see the 'country and profile'. right under this, you need to see the message "You should change your Play country only when you move to a new country". IF YOU DON'T SEE THIS MESSAGE, THEN YOUR VPN ISN'T WORKING.

Note: the alternate message may indicate to change country to Australia, United Kingdom, or Russia etc. I saw this constantly - even though my VPN (Ivacy) said I was in turkey and looking up whatsmyip showed that I was in Turkey, it still didn't work - it was clarly a virtual server and google knew that the physical server was not in Turkey.
I ended up downloading a free app 'VPN Turkey' (red logo with the turkey flag) and tried the 3 different servers - and one of these worked (I think Istanbul 2) - the other 2 also didn't work.

Once you have Google Play store 'confirm' that you're in Turkey - it was straight forward. go through the normal rest of the steps
      5. open spotify, click on premium, and select the google Play payment.

I now subscribed to family plan and added the rest of my family. again, their country needs to be 'turkey' (step 3), but the address needs to match the same as the organisor (which I've used my normal AU address)

      hope that helps

  • I've gotten so close but am now stuck on the 'Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction, use a different payment instrument or contact us.'

    • Have tried using Bluestacks on my PC, NoxPlayer on my Macbook.
    • I'm an iOS user so my Google Play account was made brand new with VPN, payment profile set to Turkey. Currently don't have an address on the account however.
    • I switched VPN to make sure it recognized me as in Turkey. (no message about switching to x country instead)
    • Made sure to install Spotify through Google Play account while on VPN and VPN was on when accessing it
    • I have tried with two new Spotify accounts - one made via 'login with Google' and a brand new one with no association - both profiles are set to Turkey. My main Spotify account still has premium until the end of this month so I can't change my country on that account until that lapses.
    • Have used both a Wise card (with Turkish currency in my Wise account) and an Up Zap digital card
    • Have tried turning off the VPN before continuing with Google Pay payment - this results in either a connection error or the same transaction error message.

Few questions if somebody could clarify:

    • Do I need a Turkish address on my Google Play account profile? Or is the profile being set to Turkish enough?
    • When I add a credit card payment method to Google Pay, do the card details need to be with a Turkish address or can this be with my actual billing address for the card?
    • Does it matter what currency I have on the Wise account when attempting this? I noticed that on the Wise card I have a number of cancelled Temporary Hold transactions from Google. There is a single successful one for 2 TRY and this was when I changed the billing details for the card to my actual details which prompted Google to want to 'verify' the card with photos. This went through successfully.
    • Is there anything I may be missing here? If someone has been successful with this I would love to get in touch with some assistance.

Finally, I know someone who has used a similar method for Discord Nitro, though when I check my subscription settings I get a message about nitro subscription settings being unavailable in the Discord app and that these need to be done on the web. I have a year plan expiring in November so I wonder if it has anything to do with that?

    Thanks

    • Have tried again with a freshly factory reset Samsung phone I was able to get my hands on. Brand new Google account with new Spotify account - all done under VPN - same transaction issue occurs.

I couldn't edit the previous post but I did make a small purchase to confirm the card was working etc with the previous Turkish account, it's really just Spotify causing the issue at this point. Only time I've had to turn off the VPN was when first creating the Spotify account with Google as it noticed I was using a 'proxy service'. Wonder if that has any bearing on it.

Have tried multiple reboots, cache clears, VPNS (Windscribe, VPN.Lat, random 'VPN Turkey' app as suggested by someone else here. Basically everything short of getting a 'trial' for something like NordVPN.) Absolutely no luck getting that payment to go through for Spotify.

  • I'm having the same issues as some have suggested here, initially it was spotify that had blocked certain VPN addresses. Fresh google account with turkish payment profile, had different credit cards I've tried with Australian Addresses. Went to google pay all within VPN, tried NordVPN no go, and also the VPN Turkey app that someone suggested.

You can see on the Google Pay activity logs that it says declined for payment attempts, checked with the credit card companies and they're saying there not seeing anything on their end, but funnily enough on Wise you can see a holding amount to check the credit card legitimacy, but no declined payment come through thereafter.

Pretty sure that google are either blocking a whole bunch of credit cards or they are preventing a whole lot of VPN addresses from proceeding through with the transaction. While you can add them, you will not be able to proceed through with the use of them. There maybe some VPNs which are blocked from processing the payments, eg. NordVPN doesn't work so don't bother signing up for this VPN.

As I know previously when I did do this with 28 degress mastercard and another VPN service for Turkey Disney+ subscription on a spare google account and it was successful, google banned my google account. Just a warning for those that are thinking of using your main google account.
