Spotify Premium: Individual TRY₺30 Per Month (~$2.40), Family TRY₺50 Per Month (~$4.00) (Android and VPN Required) @ Spotify

2781

I will start by apologising for the awful title and description - it's been a while hahah.

ANDROID WORKS - took me 1 to 2 minutes total to sign up.
Apple I don't know if there's a method - could android vm or use someone elses phone as a one off?

Roughly a year ago Spotify and Google play store made a press release stating that they were going to be trialing Google Pay and Merchant Pay. I checked it regularly and within the last week or two it has finally been added!

METHOD:

Pre-existing spotify account:
I Smell Pennies @OB

New/ Free Accounts

Blue Stacks (PC) - IOS alternative/ android back up method:
Iangh @OB
Android:

  1. Set up a Google Play account with a Turkish payment profile - after looking to save myself some effort this deal by alcheron's comment explains it pretty well - thanks SuBw00FeR for helping me find the correct one
  2. Download and/or open Spotify
  3. Go to the get premium tab on the bottom right of the home screen
  4. Select any plan
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the payment where it says your country
  6. Change country to Türkiye
  7. Click the change plan key (had one account have issues signing up which this solved)
  8. Select the plan you want
  9. Click Google Pay
  10. Select your Turkish payment profile
  11. Select/ enter the card you want to use

To add family members:

  1. On the head account go to: https://www.spotify.com/tr-tr/account/family/ and get the link
  2. Follow that link on the child account, enter in the same address as is on the head account (I used an NZ one and it worked, just make sure they are the same)
  3. I experienced issues adding one account, it was saying it was from a different account to the head - if you get this issue on their account go to: https://www.spotify.com/tr-tr/account/profile/ and check what country is listed. If it is New Zealand/Aus/anywhere other than turkey get them to connect via turkish VPN (I used PIA) and it'll give them the option to change it to Turkey
  4. They can then follow the same family link and use the same address as the head account and it should work now

And you're now sorted with what I believe is the cheapest Spotify Premium price currently available.

This method is imo less effort, cheaper, and doesn't need to be renewed, like the previously available cheap Spotify option posted on OzBargain

Any issues feel free to comment and hopefully we can troubleshoot it.

Thanks to Wakrak for formating help

        • I did all for my kids, all new accounts with new email adresses and made a password for them.

  • +1

Thanks. Got a duo plan after trying for a while. I think you should have mentioned VPN is necessary to change your Google Play account country to Turkey before going to Spotify and paying it with Google Play.

That's the only step that cost me a while. Other than that it was all fine. I used NordVPN 7-day free trial. Just remember to cancel it right after you finish your Spotify subscription payment.

  • +1

Brilliant! Worked a charm. Now to get the fam signed up. YTP, Netflix, Disney+ now Spotify all sorted! Used an old Android phone without Spotify and downloaded the latest version, made sure only Turkish Google profile was loaded on phone and Google Play.

    • how can i ensure my other profiles not there~

      • +1

Go into settings on your android device. Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts > select Google account and click "Remove Account". Try clearing the cache on Google Play too. If you have a Google account with multiple payment profiles. That seems to be a no-go. Go with the advice of others here and have a fresh account setup based in Türkiye.

ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME !, I HAVE SPENT HOURS TRYNA WORK THIS OUT , JUST keeps saying google subs not in your country

  • +1

Still getting the subs not in your country once clicking Google Pay. I have done everything according to the instructions:
1)Google pay has only one user with only one payment profile - Turkey profile.
2)Changed Spotify user country to Turkey.
3)Nord VPN being used as Turkey.

What am I missing? appreciate any help guys.
    Thanks.

    • I am.getting the same. I have been scratching my head for the past few days. I have been using a new Android phone.

    • try make new spotify account with vpn turkey on

      • Thanks, already did it, twice. Created two new accounts with different emails but the result is the same - dont know why this happens

    • Do you have an Australian google account on Google play store as well as the Turkey account? I was getting the same message until I removed my other account and only had the Turkey account on Google Play.

      • No, this was my concern as well so instead of using my phone I used my old tablet. I have removed my main account and added the Turkish one but it is displaying the error. Did you remove/clean cache of Google store for the changes to stick?

        • +2

Did all that and force stopped it after removing my Aus account.

  • I do all steps using the VPN and it doesn't matter… When I get to the final Google pay payment screen it just says payment cannot let you complete it?
Tried my au ing card and amex NZ?

    • I’m having same issue. Tried multiple cards and each one gets declined when I click pay using google pay in the Spotify app… been trying on Samsung tablet not sure if that’s the issue or not..

  • -1

If you're getting the "Google Play purchases are not supported in your country", make sure the Google account you want to use only have the Turkish payment profile on it and not linked to any Google family group with Australian payment profile.

Easier to create a new Google account with Turkish payment profile as Spotify family doesn’t use Google family group.

    • and not linked to any Google family group with Australian payment profile.

My Google account is the main family manager (has Turkey profile) with 5 other people in it (all with Australian payment profiles) and the main account was able to sign up no problems

      • My main account is Aus profile

        • Last time I added a Turkey along with it and it worked

    • I’m not an android user but grabbed a friends android. When you say create a new Google account is that as in a brand new Google email address?

  • Anyone had any luck with Surfshark? Turkey comes up as Netherlands IP.

    • Was using Surfshark before and kept getting "Google Play purchases are not supported in your country" error. Switched to another VPN provider and I can get to the payment screen but will get these error messages instead:

"Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction, secure your account."

      or

'Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction, use a different payment instrument or contact us.'

I've tried with the 28 degrees card and a Wise card, all no go.

  • Thanks, OP!

What I did involved Bluestacks, https://www.bluestacks.com/download.html, not a phone. Install it on your PC.
As per OP instructions create Turkish Gmail account using VPN (I used Surfshark). When it asks for an address use a Macca's in Istambul - you can pick up your post later.
    Install Bluestacks.
    Check VPN is Turkey, https://browserleaks.com/ip.
In Google Play, login Turkey gmail, assign Aus credit card. Can't remember if I did the credit card with or without VPN on as I already have a Turkish gmail for other services.
Install Spotify. Use Google to make account - your account is the shiny, new Turkey gmail you have just created. Don't make an account not using the Turkey Gmail as it won't give you the option to pay by Google.
When you get to the pay by Google account page, turn off your VPN, then click to pay. If you try to pay with VPN on it doesn't like it. I used Surfshark VPN and a 28degrees card.

    • I tried everything you noted above via Bluestacks and also on a reformatted Android phone to no avail. i.e. Install Spotify. Use Google to make account.

For me (like some others here): I don't get the option to pay via "Google Pay" regardless of my Google account being new and set to Turkey (& Spotify in Turkish). I even went as far as testing an alternate VPN Turkish IP (checked in advance it was connected and showing Turkey) in case current was somehow blocked.

Very annoying indeed as others here get to see it the Google Pay option. I can't for the life of me see why mine would be any different when I followed instructions to the tee multiple times and on multiple new setup's which I created out of stubborn matter of interest!

Latest Test: In Spotify I changed the country to Australia and one the gets to see Paypal as a payment option. If changed back to Turkey, it still only offers credit card option (no Google Pay option)

      • I too had this issue. What resolved it was cancelling my existing premium on my Spotify account, waiting for it to revert to a free account, then trying the steps again. If you are currently on a free account and still don’t have the option ensure your google play store is signed into the account with your Turkish payment address and country set to Turkey in settings.

      • -1

        Im also VERY frustrated!

      • The key thing is it being a Turkish gmail account. Did you have the VPN on while making the account, did you input a Turkish address during set-up?

Next step is to add credit card to Google payment? Then do the Spotify install. I've used the same method for Disney+ and F1TV. Just cancelled DAZN as price is going from $1.50 to $15 - it's not called Ozbargain for no reason!

        • +1

you just need a Turkeh payment profile on the Google account, it doesn’t have to be a Turkish Google account.

        • More for confirmation that I covered the suggestions made here to no avail.

          @aromaticsnail Suggestion:
What resolved it was cancelling my existing premium on my Spotify account, waiting for it to revert to a free account
My Reply = I started off by creating a new freebie account so rules out any conflicts and didn't help.

          @Iangh Suggestions:
          - Did you have the VPN on while making the account My Reply = Yes.
          - Next step is to add credit card to Google payment? My Reply = Yes.
          Then
          - Do the Spotify install. My Reply = Correct and with a fresh account, VPN on and the result looked good with Spotify Turkey. TRY as currency.

All done in that order but no Google Payment.

          I Smell Pennies Suggestion:
          * - You just need a Turkeh payment profile on the Google account.

My Reply = I set up a fresh Google Account and set both Payment Profile and the Account to be Turkey to save possible issue.

I am happy to start from scratch "again" in any order as a test but don't see where I could have gone wrong. Happy to test other suggestions/ideas.

          • +1

@Borg: I was in the same boat. If you don't mind paying a bit more per month (~$2 extra for the family plan), the only thing that worked for me was doing everything via the Philippines instead of Turkey.

            • @Dismo: Thanks for the tip. TBH, am more curious as to why this works for some and not others like myself hence interested to try get to the bottom of it. Have tried 3 methods all following the recommended route but with subtle differences to see if it helped. All started from scratch on reformatted Android device and yet still no joy Very weird indeed!

  • OMFG i do everything asked, even go to pay with google, it says all the details yet the final step is : error your tranSACTIOn cannot be completed , use a different payment instement or contact us?

    • I got that way back when creating my account and the issue was the turkish address i was using from memory
      Try:
      Menderes, 369. Sk., 34225 Esenler/İstanbul, Türkiye

Random one i grabbed from google maps which seem to work better than generator addresses

Honestly just a matter of continuously trying to change things till it works then waiting some time to see if it sorts itself out

      • Did you change your address for the spotify account or the google play account or the payment card account? I am not sure if spotify has an option for inputting exact address

        • You change the address of the Google payment profile. If you don’t have one yet, make one. Set country to Turkey and enter address

  • I couldn't get this to work for the life of me. Tried everything. In the end I followed the steps but used a Philippines address, VPN, etc.

It works out a bit more expensive at ₱214/month for a family plan, so around $A1.75/month more than the Turkey route, but still way cheaper than in Oz!

    • What card worked for you?

I'm assuming you set a spotify account to Philippines, setup a payment profile with a Philippines address and then logged into spotify with VPN set to Philippines and got the premium option that way?

      • I used a Wise digital card with an Australian address.

        • Created a Google account using a VPN connected to the Philippines.
        • Added a payment profile with a fake Manila address.
        • Added the digital Wise card with my Australian address as the payment method.
        • Created a Spotify account with the same Manila address I used above.
        • Went through the Get Premium process, selected the plan I wanted.
        • Clicked "Mobile payment", which then took me to the Spotify or Google Pay screen, and GPay actually worked this time.

It was all in Filipino after the final step but was fairly straight forward (paste anything you're not sure about into Google Translate).

  • Hi guys - need som ehelp - tried all the steps above from creating new google pay and spotify account and even uninstalled/reinstalled spotify. So after I select the plan and use google pay to pay it keeps bouncing back to: "subscription not available" the subscription isn't available in your google play country. you can update your country by etc etc.

Yes this is all done while VPN is on set to Turkey and all google play/spotify accounts set to Turkey…

Would appreciate any type of help with thanks!!!

    • Couple easy things to try:
      Restart your phone
Make sure spotify is installed on the turkish google account if you have several accounts logged into the phone - second to this try make a guest account on your phone or use blue stacks (I am just about to link to a comment explaining this in the main post so refer to above if you wish) so you only have one google account on the play store
Lastly make sure to set your google play to turkish also (not just the payment profile) - this step requires a VPN as a one off - Under settings -> General - > Account and device preferences (Account, country, and history) -> Country and profiles
Try a different vpn (I personally didn't need a VPN at any stage except for adding family members)

      • thanks mate - so I removed the other google payment profiles in my google pay and now able to progress to the part where it confirms my subscription and payment details - now problem after I select the payment card comes as error: Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction use a different payment instrument or contact us.

        • that's actually an error I haven't seen anyone else mention, sounds like potentially the card doesn't have money? or maybe the bank has blocked the transaction? I can imagine if you dont do many online payments the bank would find a TRY payment suspicious?
Could you try a different payment or bank card?

          • @Rowjo: I’ve had the same issue. Tried with CBA, UP and Latitude Global cards and keep encountering the Error. Was able to successfully add and verify the cards on google account. Keen to hear if anyone has a fix for this? Thanks

        • I'm getting the same error, Factory reset Android phone, New Turkey google account/profile, new account spotify set to Turkey, verified working by buying YTP, tried with both Bendigo and Westpac mastercards.

        • ok, so looking above through your comments Ill make sure Im up to play with what you have tried:
https://www.spotify.com/tr-tr/account/profile/ - looking above you've set this to turkey
          Your payment profile is turkey
Your google play store is turkish
          You've tried VPN

          To confirm have you:
tried different debit/ credit cards on the payment profile?
Tried changing your payment profile address? (I've had issues in the past with the address being issues - but I dont think this is the issue in your case)
Have you tried a different VPN?
Are you using a new or your current spotify account? - If it is your current do you have a subscription currently running?

          • @Rowjo: I’ve tried all the above to no avail. Successfully get to the google play page but keep getting transaction declined error. I contacted google and they said account needs to be verified despite successfully verifying the cards on google pay. Must be something related to the turkey address that is triggering a block on googles end? Have tried NordVPN and Windscribe as well as both Visa and Mastercard.

            • @Crowing: Google said account needs to be verified despite successfully verifying the cards on google pay
Did you happen to ask Google how one does this i.e. as it already shows as verified?

              • @Borg: Even though I verified my card successfully, they requested additional documents including photo of card with name and government ID to be uploaded to them after a few hours. I suspect they do a check for the address etc I’m not sure how others have got around this? Must be something I’m doing wrong or differently that triggers these additional checks… can’t figure out what though

                • @Crowing: Try going on google maps, going isntanbul or somewhere in turkey and selecting a residential address rather than using one of the generator

                  • @Rowjo: Thanks mate - will give it a go. Might need to try with completely new card though - seems like verification is required as soon as I enter the same card details for the accounts that need verification

  • +2

Guys, if you already have an existing subscription with Google One or Youtube, this should be easy pezy. For those who are new to this, please read Rowjo’s (the OP) description carefully. Many of the times when people PM me for help, it always ends up in me pointing out they didn’t read the instructions correctly when we go to solve the problem.

Before making a comment about your problem, try to fix it first by mucking around with it, or read the comments on OzB. Many of the times I’ve gotten many of the problems and errors you guys get and by fiddling my way through I end up doing it. Never give up.

    • I've got an existing turkish google account which works fine for the google one sub. But no matter what I do with this account on a fresh android phone, I keep getting the 'subscription isn't available in your google play country' message when I click on google pay inside spotify. Despite google play settings saying Turkey, and only a Turkish payment profile on the account. Not sure what else is left to try? Bluestacks? Why would it be any different though.

          • +2

@B-Moose: I don't mean to be rude but none of us are paid, we are helping for the sake of it, if you have read all the comments and tried everything as said the comment he has linked is your best bet - everything else is guess work - we cant diagnose futher its not like we work at spotify - and they arent fobbing you off they are offering futher more one on one help

  • +2

Also, I’m offering to help those who can’t get it to work. Feel free to PM me your Google account and Spotify details and I’ll have a look at what’s wrong

    -ISP

    • thanks - just PMed you!

    • I am going to PM you.

    • +2

@I Smell Pennies: You will be sorry you made that offer. We will all be lining up…hahaha!
Just kidding (kind of) as am determined to try get it working myself so won't hassle you. Down the line (weeks) I may well send you a PM if all else fails. I don't need a Spotify account but interested in why it is failing for me!
Anyhow, very nice of you to offer to help people out like you did on Netflix. Good one.

      • Yeah I actually regret it lol. Netflix was so easy so I was happy to help with that, but with Google it's unpredictable. So far a few have PM'd me and I was unable to find out how to bypass the errors.

Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction use a different payment instrument or contact us.

I believe this error is caused by the debit/credit card, can't get it to work somehow (they're all on mastercard). Personally I use suncorp isa

        • Mine is a Visa card but as noted just no pay via Google Pay option.

At least with you looking at the failed accounts will help as you are across the big picture. Whatever you find out even if not successful will help others……..as for the most part you know what to look for. Enjoy yourself and the occasional head scratch :-)

    • +1

Thanks for being a legend - hows the pms going?? :-)

      • It stopped which is good 😂 I’m still mind boogled on how to solve these problems. I used to bypass ir but I can’t seem to do it anymore. I think it’s a card issue

        • +1

If one of the ones that pmd you are happy for you to pass on the details to me im happy to give it a shot also (have successfully done 4 accounts with only mild issues) - 1 visa, 2 x Mastercard, and 1x wise
I see above you mentioned all these ones are MC - a CC member had the opposite issue with visa not working and MC working for them

          • @Rowjo: For all those tagged feel free to PM the OP (@Rowjo). I only attempted two of the below.
@Hongkia83 - "Your transaction cannot be completed. To continue this transaction use a different payment instrument or contact us. Learn more"
@jamba - "Subscription not available in your Google Play Country"
@cheaplah - "Your transaction cannot be completed. To continue this transaction use a different payment instrument or contact us. Learn more"
@westtoucan - No Google Pay option
@Wi11iAmm - "Your transaction cannot be completed. To continue this transaction use a different payment instrument or contact us. Learn more"

            • @I Smell Pennies: I would be interested to know if there was any further thoughts for the above.

In my case, twice I used a factory reset phone with no SIM, set location services disabled, wifi AP to a glinet router using nordvpn to Turkey to create a Turkish Google account. Proved either an AU bank visa debit set with a Turkish address would pay for a $0.50 Google One subscription, but for Spotify still had “your transaction could not be completed … “.

An interesting observation is that the $0.50 payments in my bank account (debit card) are to “Google Australia”. In my case, the likely reason leading to the Spotify subscription failure.

Maybe once tagged as AU using a debit visa, subsequently attempting with a Cc visa instead was probably not going to work. Already tagged by Spotify as AU.

Both debit and Cc cards are from the same bank. A bank that at least one person in this thread has used (I assume Cc) successfully.

              • @M2: @M2 Thanks for your comment

An interesting observation is that the $0.50 payments in my bank account (debit card) are to “Google Australia”. In my case, the likely reason leading to the Spotify subscription failure.

Mine also says Google Australia, but spotify still worked. So I don’t believe that’s the reason…

                Hmmm

            • +1

@I Smell Pennies: Update: Instead of using Turkey as the location, I tried with Philippines and it worked. I followed the same steps but just used Philippines as my location (using PIA VPN). A tiny but more expensive but defiantly more cheaper than paying it normally.

            • @I Smell Pennies: @jamba did you get this resoloved? im having the same issue - "Subscription not available in your Google Play Country"

              • @sund00bie: Yes I resolved mine. My issue was I had a Google account in my family account with an Australian address. I just removed that account from family account and lo and behold it worked.

  • Hi all - I have subscribed to the premium family plan. Now in 'Finish setting up your plan' it wants a home address. Can I use my legit one or do I have to use a Turkish one? Thanks

    • your real home one

      • Thank you champion!

      • And does this need to be done via the following @I Smell Pennies

        1. Whilst connected via VPN to Turkey
        2. With new accounts for the family members or can it be done with existing accounts that are no longer Premium.
        • +1
          1. Yes (I think yes, can't remember)
          2. Existing is ok, as long as VPN is turned on (so you can change the location of each account to Turkey)
  • Will you still be a premium member when you use Spotify in iOS?

  • +1

Finally got this working, and it was just the bloody VPN. Surfshark and windscribe weren't working no matter what I tried got the google play error not available in your country message. Signed up for nordvpn and it immediately worked!
So a tip for others, it seems the VPN for the key payment step is critical, that it's traced to Turkey and not detected as a VPN by Google play.

    • Yeap and best to always go to the likes of Whatismyip when connected which will confirm your actual location. Never assume a VPN connects properly to country requested.

    • I am still getting the same error even with Nord set to Turkey

    • still getting the same error of 'subscription no available in your country' with Nord VPN. I think somehow Google Play is recognising Australia as the payment gateway from my other google account even though I've set everything to the profile set to Turkey. I give up lol

      • Is that account part of a Google family? My Turkish google one account didn't work maybe for that reason. Created a new google account and it did.

  • For those that are still getting Subscription not available in country the only thing that worked for me was to remove the Australian google account i had on my phone (via Manage Accounts on this Device). Despite Google Play being set to my Turkey profiled google account for whatever reason the fact i still had another google account on the phone and hence Play Store that wasnt Turkey was tripping it up.

I removed that and clicking Google Pay finally worked.

I readded it afterwards so no issue.

    • Thank you! This fixed my problem as well.

    • I only have one google account showing via Manage Accounts on this Device. Still getting same error

      • +1

I have to remove the email account from google family to get through the payment process.

        • @hotwinter. You are a life saver. i have been scratching my head for days. Removing the account from family did the trick

          • +1

@jamba: Now I am getting your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction please secure your account.

  • dosnt work google declined the payment

  • +1

Tried almost everything possible but cannot get it to work. Used 2 x visa 1 x mastercard and revolut with some had payment verification. Also created 3 new turkish accounts all done via Nordvp but still no go. No active australian google account on device either. I swear followed OP to the T

    Always get

    ''Error
Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction, use a different payment instrument or contact us.''

I'm tempted to create Wise account since i think most have it working with that? :/
My head is about to explode lol

    • Before clicking to pay did you turn off VPN as that's what I had to do to get the request for the 3 digit security code?

      • Yeah i tried that as well without any luck.
I'm curious to know which cards everyone using to get this to work and if they're using turkey address in payment

        • I used 28degrees and Surfshark on Bluestacks, using a gmail I had set-up previously for other services. I find Bluestacks easier to use and have Turkish, Indian and Brazil accounts. If you're turning off VPN and it's not working could be something to do with the cache. How about disable n/w adapter, enable without VPN and try payment stage. If that doesn't work, reboot and try opening app without VPN and try to pay.

I follow the guys on https://www.hotukdeals.com/discussions/s-sports-plus-via-tur… (read from June onwards if you want to see what people are using for sports), and on HUKD they have the usual threads about all our favourites, e.g., Netflix, Disney+, etc. Unfortunately, there's always people who don't get it working. Wander round to a mate's house and try with his rig and ISP?

    • I feel your pain mate! Have probably opened 10 new google accounts over the last few days, encountered exactly same error message. I’ve been using nord but tried Winscribe and still same issue. Tried CBA, ANZ, latitude and WBC cards too - all same error message. No idea what’s causing it!! lol

    • Same issue, did anyone get this fixed? I can’t get any of the cards to work

  • Thanks for the write up - successfully created new account under same google profile that has my Turk Disney+ subscription.

Took a min or 2, with NordVPN on at payment screen - successfully signed up now :)

  • Finally I've managed to sign up the family plan after a few days of struggle. The problem now is I can't add any family members to the plan. Spotify accounts have been all changed to Turkey with VPN. After verify the address it would say "There was a problem Please try again later." Have already tried at least 5 Spotify accounts, new and old, multiple addresses, with or without VPN… It is super frastrating. Anyone has any idea to get this last step done? Thanks.

    • Need to use Turkey VPN while adding family member.
