    These are crap!

Had a store refuse the voucher and the response from entertainment book was ‘shrug’ at best

    • +3

Yep, after this i didnt renew it

    • OK. One store refused the voucher and you concluded that the EB is not worth it.
Yes, you may come across some dodgy stores. But do you realise that EB has no power over dodgy businesses?
Just don't buy from those stores any more and spread the word.
Have you tried any other stores, restaurants, fast food outlets, museums, activities, etc listed in the EB?
I am sure you will have pretty good experience most of the time.
It's amazingly easy to get the money you have paid for the membership back.

Don't buy it! Many restaurants don't honor or accept the voucher, especially after Covid.

    • How many? And where?

    • +1

Never had this issue. Where is this?

      • +1

Same, have not had any issues at a range of sydney restaurants.

  • +12

Most offers can only used once
Having 4 extra months just means you have more time to use those once-off offer
    It doesn't bring extra values

    • Great point. Most people wouldn’t think of that.

  • +4

Amazed they are still around - never the same after they got rid of the books. Having said that the last year with the book most wouldn't accept the vouchers, even early in the year.

  • +5

In SA I’ve had no trouble. And I’ve always made my money back after about 3 restaurants. Never been refused for the vouchers. Love the use, hate the app though. It’s such garbage

    • +1

Similar in WA. I've had a good experience. Like you, I think the app is junk. Better than it was but still not as good as the original app.

    • +2

Yeah I easily get the value out of it. Still has enough but one meal get one free in it

    • +2

Same. I've never encountered a store who hasn't accepted the voucher.

  • +1

Wa. They still list businesses that have been closed for years

  • +1

Not as much value as it used to be years ago
Full of McDonald’s deals now 😂
And the app seems to be written by a 5 year old
    AVOID

  • +1

Be cautious of buying it for particular restaurants as they can pull them out whenever…..or use the voucher you like the most asap!

  • +1

Since covid, entertainment hasn’t been worth it. No more ALH pubs (which was the main reason I purchased them), and kept having experience where restaurants didn’t accept their own vouchers. Have not renewed since. I’m surprised they are still around especially when considering the backlash they copped when they discontinued the physical book. The older version of their app was also more stable and easier to use compared to the current version.

  • +3

For all the complaints and negativity. You can still save a lot of money with EB, the app isn’t all that bad, and they donate to your nominated cause. It’s $11 a month people, not that expensive for the savings. Two meals out a year and you have saved the cost.

    • Fork it.

    • It's $4.37 per month for one city or $7.50 p/m multi-city

      • No idea where I pulled $11 from! :)

  • +1

If you like theatre, ballet or opera you get your money back straight away if you take someone with you.

Never had a refusal in WA.

Yes the books were brilliant but its still excellent value.

  • Deals not what they once were and a lot of franchises run by Asians refuse vouchers.

You can still get your money back and then some but not sure it's worth the hassle.

    • +1

If I'm ordering a meal for takeaway, I just show the voucher when I'm picking up and if they decline without clearly stating it on their website/FB, I'll just pretend to walk away and it so far has a 100% success rate.

      • +1

        This is a boss move

Gave up on these just prior to COVID-19. Too many places changed the offer/changed ownership and I didn't get much value out of it.

  • Clutching at straws now. They've regularly had 2 months bonus but it's still not enough to enough to entice people as there's less restaurants on it and they're all 25% rather than 2 for 1.

Better off getting a corporate membership or when they do a bonus $20 gift card if you really need a membership imo.

  • +1

Sushi Hub in Eastland VIC refuse to accept my voucher twice after redeeming. I only bought it so my Church can receive thiers $20

    • Why don’t u just give your church $70 instead lol

The free model apps like liven etc or even Groupon have killed the entertainment book. It’s like the blockbuster of the voucher scene

  • When is dodgy business going to go bankrupt?

    • +1

Sending some positivity to you, try not to be angry at the world.

  • I've just used the bogof at Harvest buffet. No complaints from me.
