[NSW] Gorilla Carts 226L Dump Kart - Galvanized Steel Bed $100 @ Bunnings, Wallsend

1030

These are on clearance at Bunnings, and no longer on their site or the local Gorilla Carts site, though you may find a cached version if you want to see details or can't convert imperial to metric :)

GCSD-8-AU

Marked down at my local so possibly at others also. Was at least a dozen stacked up there when I grabbed mine earlier today, at the exit near the garden section.

Poly tray likely a better option for many but mine will live out of the weather in a shed anyway.

…although it seems other stores don’t have this price, and are $230+

      • +1

        How do you see that?

    • +3

My word, how did you do that?

    • Wow that’s awesome how did you do that stock chart and is that live tracking?

  • Looks tiny.

    • +7

      It's about 70cm * 99cm for the tray bit, weighs about 30kg.
It's only just fits through my shed door .

      Not "tiny"

    • A large wheely bin is 240 litres as a guide

      Not "tiny"

Might be able to tow behind ride on mower (slowly)
      .

      • +1

Might be able to tow behind ride on mower

It's handle is designed for that also.

        • Would the box fit in a Magna boot?
I can't see a box size on that webpage
We're all or most the bits inside the tray?
          .

          • @Nugs: Yes, all the bits were in the tray, inside the box.

            • @SBOB: Thanks. I'm looking around at a store that supposedly has one but no-one knows where
              .

    • I paid 150 for one about 2 years ago, it is a gem.

      • +1

What do you use it for?

        • +1

moving pavers, tiles, sand, palm trees and leaves, etc. it is pretty tough.

  • +9

Great price. Ive got the poly tray version, they are bloody fantastic. Much better than a wheel barrow. Well worth it even at full price.

    • +4

Much better than a wheel barrow.

I've got a similar product of another brand.

Have to agree these things are better than a wheel barrow.

    • +3

Agree, bloody brilliant thing the poly tray model

  • op, do you know what's the Bunnings product code #? so I can ring to check if they actually have the stock

  • +1

Are these an alternative to wheelbarrows?

    • +1

      Yes

    • +1

And lots of fun for young kids around the back yard.

  • +1

Hi OP, Do you know the original price, before marked down?

    • second this. would like to know too.

    • Around $230 I think

    • +1

$279.. clearance price at other stores is $230.

  • +5

It says $230 in other store, no clearance.
    Item no; 238618

  • Why is this better than wheelbarrow? Better for off road

    • +5

much more stable, mostly. Also you dont have to lift it to move it (not an issue for some but is for others). You dont have the problem of tossing a spade full of dirt into the wheelbarrow and have it tip over because you threw it in the wrong place. At times it can be easier to pull things up a slope than to push it up a slope, especially if the slope is uneven. Some people find them much easier to steer.

Downsides are that you have to pull instead of pushing, which can be more difficult on occasions.

    • +2

Can carry more than most comparably priced. You only have to control the weight rather than lift+control it which makes a big difference if you're doing many / heavy loads. I use mine mostly when getting soil or sand delivered to get it around the back of the house that has a somewhat steep driveway/pathway. If only doing a load or 2 sure you wouldn't care much, but when you're doing many loads… it makes a big difference. Have lent it to my neighbours and they said the same thing. I was using a wheel barrow before but since getting the poly gorilla cart im sold hook line and sinker, wish i bought it years ago.

    • +5

Mine also has a "dump" function. You just pull the release lever, the back wheels retract under the tray, and the tray tilts and dumps its contents without you having to lift the weight of the barrow and the load in it. Much easier.

      • Ah yes, thanks, i forgot to mention that nifty feature too.

    • Better for off road

Yes as you can see it's 4 wheel drive. While a normal wheelbarrow is 1 wheel drive 😂.

  • +1

Any thoughts of cheap solid tyres for these?
1 normal wheelbarrow going flat is annoying but 4….

    • +2

buy a bottle of slime has directions on back for wheelbarrow

    • I use the ozito pxc air pump for mine nabbed on another ozb deal, all done in probably a minute. Any similar battery/rechargeable air pump would do. I haven't had to inflate the tyres as regularly as i did the wheel barrow before i got it fwiw.

  • Hi does any one have the “barcode” they could share please.

  • +4

    Full price at Malaga, WA

  • -1

The description says steel cart but the picture is of a poly cart. Is the poly also clearance price of $100?

    • +3

I think that is a steel tray painted yellow. The poly carts have black trays. They do have a steel mesh cart for $110 (120kg capacity) but that's not a bargain like the one in the OP.

    • +2

that pic from their site is the steel tray. Its galvanized and its painted yellow.

  • Can someone please post a receipt or a pic of the $100 price tag so I can try to price match at a different bunnings - thanks

      • Thanks mate

        • I rang two stores to get the price match arguing Wallsend store has it at $100, but no luck. Let us know how you go.

          • @Unacceptable: Isn't Bunnings policy is to beat any price by 5%? So why cant they beat their own price?

            • +1

              @amsaini15: From their website: https://www.bunnings.com.au/policies/price-policy

"Our lowest prices policy means that if you find a competitor's lower price (including GST and delivery charges) on the same in-stock item that's available for same-day delivery or collection, we'll beat it by 10%. This excludes trade quotes, stock liquidations, commercial quantities and Marketplace products."

Applies to their competitors - doubt they view other Bunnings as competition.

Also exclides stock liquidations (sales, clearance, etc.).

      • +1

Thanks OP. I was able to price match this at my local bunnings.

        • +1

          Well done.
          Glad it could help.

      • I hope you remembered to scan your Flybuys card :-)

        • I did not.
Occassially I just don't think the tracking is worth the 2c of flybuy points ;)

  • I just tried at Mentone and was advised they couldn't price match another store.

  • +3

230 reduced from 279 at Bayswater WA

    • Thanks for heads up. Was gonna head here.

  • Happy with mine only negative is no brakes so have to be careful where you leave it if you have kids…and yes kids will use it as a ride on toy :)

    • +2

yes kids will use it as a ride on toy

That was actually how it got tested after building :)

    • +3

Not sure if you only need to be worried about kids… Me and my partner jumped in as soon as we finished assembling it. lol

  • Do these carts have braking functionality for downhill/uphill use?

    • +1

      Nope.
Wheels are just free wheeling on posts held on with split pins.

    • +2

You have use your feet like Fred Flinstone style

    • Turn it sideways to the grade.

  • +1

    Still $230 at Port Macquarie

    • I negotiated down to $125 this afternoon from $230 as it was 'box damaged'

  • +3

Had my eye on one of these for a while.
Bunnings Tarniet had 3, still labeled as $279.
I showed a staff member the $100 receipt and they marked it down to $100 strait away as it was a discontinued line.
    Happy with that deal.

    • Which aisle if you may share. Thx

      • +1

        Garden section.
There are 2 doors to the garden section - go to the door furtherest from the registers, and you should see them in a stack.

  • +1

Noarlunga now have 2 left at $115
    .

    • I bought the other one! 😀

      Damn good price.

  • +6

5 left in toowoomba west somehow walked away with it for 90$ https://ibb.co/GcmZ8CR. Think they price beat it instead of price match

    • +2

I’m jelly! That’s fantastic considering they price matched themselves. How does one have such skills of persuasion? I can barely string two mumbled sentences together when talking to people I don’t know.

      • +1

Try harder , just keep going , talking , until you get a result .

    • +1

Cheers for sharing reciept. Will see if I can get this price matched at acacia ridge and will report back

      • +1

So acacia ridge gave some BS excuse that they need to be under a certain stock level (apparently 5 is too many). I tried springfield central but they are OOS

        • +1

          Try underwood maybe

          • +1

@EchoNoob: Underwood also says they have too many in stock. Maybe I should buy all but one full price. Get the last on clearance. Then return the rest? Thoughts?

            • @moleski: Haha good idea. I would buy one but I don't need it…

          • @EchoNoob: Or Beenleigh

    • Got two for $99 each. Will be very useful when mulching, mowing etc. Showed service desk the receipt from zzchatom and the OP.

      • Which store?

        • Toowoomba West

      • two

        You don't trust its reliability?

    • Thanks mate, Bunnings Coffs Harbour price matched your receipt for me

  • +1

Just a PSA for others in Melbourne - nrby states they're still in stock in Box Hill, but just spoke with them on the phone and they're not discounting them. They're full price.

I think they're getting deluged with calls too, as the person who answered the phone had all of the information already, and didn't need to forward my call to Garding (or whatever department these are in).

It's not the first time I've seen this with Box Hill. They seem to have their own policy; they did the exact same thing with the worm farms that Bunnings dicontinued.

    • +1

I rang them when this was posted and spoke to a guy in gardening who said they might be able to do it for $150 or so, then when I went in, spoke to a girl who then went and spoke to a guy who actually worked in gardening who basically gave her a 5 minute lecture on how they're not allowed to discount deleted lines.
Too much, I just left, I cbf listening to his bs.
Apparently, they're getting another 14 delivered, so they'll have 20, no idea how they'll sell them 🤷

  • +1

Bunnings Melton East and Coburg will not price match

    • I called Bunnings Metone, they dont dp price match via phone.

      Anyone try in store?

      • +1

Visited the Mentone store again this morning. Spoke to the manager and she advised that they don't match other store prices unless there were only a few items remaining.
The stock level was showing 12 items according to the manager. https://nrby.in/bunnings/0238618 was showing 8 at the time.
        It is currently showing 7.
Has someone managed to purchase the item for $100. If so could you upload the receipt?

  • Rang both Kingsgrove and Bankstown airport stores they all said they cannot match the price. Dang.

  • +2

No luck on the gold coast but bunnies Bethania ( Beenleigh )
Has two left and will do $90 when you show receipt from West Toowoomba,
be quick and cool about it

  • Belambi NSW has 3 in stock. All boxes are crushed and with sun-damage, but they refuse to reduce the price. Seems they're strict on keeping it at the $230 price despite acknowledging it's discontinued. Tried both the garden section and the info desk. Super strict store.

    • Try asking for a manager from the upstairs office
or show the click n collect desk the receipt
I just keep ringing around different stores until someone falls for my tale of woe..
      "Pleesse I must have'ses it , it's my Precious" garden whatever ..

      Now Avengers Assemble my cart

  • Is there still stock left in Wallsend?

  • +1

Tried at Northmead, Rydalmere and castle Hill bunnings but they won't budge.

  • Tried local Bunnings, no dice, $230.

  • +1

Yep just tried Bunnings Brendale and Carseldine. They spoke to a manager whose manager said don’t match (coming from head office). They’ve already had 4 people ask today. Looks like the deal is not going to work now.

  • +1

Looked like more than 10 left @ Bunnings Coffs Harbour. Got one for $90 thanks Ozbargainers!
(Price matched with screen shot of receipt from Toowoomba West)
