So getting one free makes this is a decent deal

  • So these can turn lights on/off and dim them? If so, can they also be controlled by hand at the switch?

    • Yes, on/off and dimming. They can be controlled at the switch. For dimming control you need a momentary button rather than a toggle switch.

Think of them as making a dumb switch smart (though you need one dimmer per switch)

  • Not all new tech bulbs are dimmer compatible. And this is related to bulbs too.

  • Dang, just bought five of these a fortnight ago. Good deal for these.

  • My current traditional dimmer switches are all mechanical rotary ones. To use a Shelly dimmer I would need a momentary button. I don’t believe there is a decent rotary smart dimmer switch on the market for Australia?

I see there are some momentary buttons that also negate the need for the shelly as well - https://www.ikuu.com.au/product/switch-mechanism-2/

Just trying to get my head around the choices out there for dimmer capability and pros/cons

      • That looks great. Thanks for making me aware of them. Any limitations? Zigbee version?

Anyone have these and can vouch for them or compare them to a shelly dimmer approach?

        • A video review from an independent, smart home blogger is on the product page. Both have pros and cons. Generally, most people use shelly, but many people like the rotary dimmer's look and feel, which is why they choose these.

      • Not needing a neutral do they cause any LED flicker when off?

        • Only if the load is less than 20w

      • Do you know if this can be installed in Clipsal Iconic wall plates?

        • Yes, shelly will work with Clipsal iconic. If you want to dim at the switch, you must replace the mechanism with the "control link" slave mech. Press once for on/off, press and hold to dim. Otherwise, you can use the standard toggle switches and just dim through the app, voice or automation.

          • @Oz Smart Things: Thanks for your reply - I was actually referring to the rotary dial option; I've since discovered that it is not compatible with Iconic. The rotary dimmer that you linked to will only work with the 'Classic' plates.

      • Could I use 2 of these within a standard 4 gang switch plate?

  • Iv been testing these and not real happy with them, firmware is buggy and had one fail after 2 months i use.
